Thank you for inspiring and teaching me I am working now on an xs1100 1978 58,000 miles on it. True basket case!!! But your videos initially and continuous manual references are helping me get there one step at a time. Thank you man!! - USA Sacramento, CA

can’t tell you how much i appreciate these videos. i’m rather intimidated by the thought of the electric system on the xs i’m trying to rebuild/modify but your videos are inspiring and educational. thanks

That turned out rather well, nice job! I'm planning the layout out of my electronics currently, and I'm trying to figure out how concerned I should be with vibration dampening. Most of the new components I'm using are vibration resistant, but the old components(ECU and some relays) were mounted using vibration isolation mounts originally. Are you concerned at all about vibration taking it's toll on your electrical components in the future?
@ANDY58 жыл бұрын
+furnimaker good question. The XS1100 TCI was solid mounted so I haven't worried about it. The battery of course sits on rubber.

Well, I guess it will probably be better to err on the side of caution in my case. I'll plan to include some vibration dampening for my build, thanks for the quick reply

+furnimaker no worries mate, yes that would be my advice too. I fitted dampening when I mounted the speedometer kzbin.info/www/bejne/moqVgpqkid2Sgqc

+Motovlog France thanks for the comments. I can't remember what music I used mate, sorry, it was over a year ago. I would have selected it from the KZbin Creator Studio royalty free music list. Andy

Hi Andy great job on the xs , i am doing a 80 xs 1100 I have cut the frame and welded a rear loop in , now that I have welded the loop in I am worried that the loop welded in might touch the frame when the suspension bottoms ? , it looks sim alar to the distance on yours how much distance have you from the frame and the rear tyre ? Thank's very much if you can give some info Cheers CHRIS

+chris elliott G'day Chris. I am using a lower profile tyre, 130x70x17. I have about 80mm (3 1/8") from the top of the tyre to the bottom of the seat. Have not had any interference issues...yet

spoke to a battery supplier today in relation to my 78 cb400t and he said you can't use a lithium battery with these older bikes because the charging system will blow uo the battery? that can't be right?
@ANDY57 жыл бұрын
G'day Andrew, lithium batteries will charge fine from a standard vehicle charging system. What they don't like is over charging, they can catch fire (just ask Samsung) That is why I have a stepper motor volt meter on my dash, in the event that my reg/rec fails I will be able to catch it quickly. You will also need to buy a Lithium specific portable charger should you wish to charge from you home supply. Standard battery chargers have a cleaning function as part of the charging cycle to de-scour the battery plates, Lithium batteries don't like this. I have a C-Tech unit at home. Thanks for watching, Andy
