That´s true about when you try to change neutral, I have this bike and this model and the same happens to me, I hope only at the begining, but the bike is amazing, I love it. Safe rides Pao!

What a great video! Good grief, I could listen to you all day... I'm an old f*rt who's lucky enough to be shortly taking early retirement, so looking at doing CBT and getting a bike (yes, the brain must be softening!). The YBR Custom has really caught my fancy and is certainly a lovely looking machine. Thanks so much for posting your vid - it's really helped (saved to favourites!) Enjoy your riding and stay safe...

Barry! Just do it;) go for CBT first it will def help you to see if you are really into biking (l know some people decided not to ride after all cause it was harder than they imagined) tip - watch some youtube videos about basics of riding a bike (gears, start and and all that) it really helps on a CBT day!:) and then enjoy! I love me YBR custom. Just did 280 miles on a ride in essex this sunday! It was amazing :)

Pao Reno I am doin it, Pao! Should be early September with a bit of luck. Had a bike late teens early twenties (this was the seventies so flared jeans, big lapels and long hair!) and car ever since so am quietly confident. I think I'll love the YBR Custom as much as you - it's a gorgeous looking thing (and I'm only an inch taller than you so your comments re seat height were good!). Definitely will not be rockin' the aged biker vibe, though! Well done on the Essex ride - that's a long way on a 125! Thank you so much for the encouragement. It's really appreciated. Ride safe :o)

Nice. Yeah I have the same problems on my yamaha ybr 125 from very late 2013 with the gearbox. A enginer from the service told me If you don't come in neutral you pull the clutch and give a little bit of rpm than it goes in to neutral again. cheers

From the mature rider point of view.... Great little commuter. It is extremely cheap on fuel (2.34l/60miles, 119MPG so circa 4 liters/100miles ). Data was obtained during the breaking in period, so I expect these to be even lower after the first 1000 miles and when my riding skills improve. Road Tax (VED) £17 pa, insurance (that depends.., with provisional DL and no previous experience: 18quid a month). Very good acceleration in the city, absolutely no problems with keeping up with the traffic up to 40mph. So it is much safer than the bicycles. Loaded bike with heavy geared person (100kg) will reach 55mph, maybe more, but it becomes wind dependent. (I haven't check the top speed yet, as it a new engine, and I cannot fully open the throttle yet. Besides I am not really interested in that parameter, in a 'need for speed mode' I will use my car :-) 5000 RPM when doing 40mph, which is pleasant for your ears.. Easy to lift with one hand (well, I mean the back wheel only). Helpful, if you have to keep your bike in the garden shed. I also had a little problem with the neutral gear at the beginning: N-light was on, but the bike was still geared: slow, half-release of the clutch and a bit of a wiggle with the gear lever (1-N) was enough to sort it out. Problem has occurred only several times so it is nothing to worry. bad bits: Very short mirrors: if you are a well build lad, you will see only your biceps. Bloody toolbox is so small,that after removing the tools from the pouch, I had to spend circa 10 minutes on solving the jigsaw how to pack them back inside :-D No proper oil filter; it is just a crappy, metal net, it does not help to build my confidence in terms of 100k lasting engines :-) Factory tyres are made by tsingtiantong....Oh gosh... these are a complete, utter rubbish. Go for a Pirelli or Metzeler. I cannot understand why such a reputable manufacturer has completely failed on these. Lack of factory suitable panniers. Yama top box is quite fine (bit cheeky to open/close), but its only 30 liters, which is sufficient for a pair gloves and packet of handkerchiefs. Also, I have feeling that topbox restricts the view of the stop light, just do not let the big lorries to tailgate you, of fit a dummy rear camera :-) Overall? Perfect for the city, easy to ride and control ( I started filtering on my 4th ride ;-), very cheap in maintenance (gearbox holds exactly 1l of oil, so it is circa 9.99 per the oil change and it takes less than 3 minutes), electronic fuel injection (since 2007??), which means zero problems with RPM, hot/cold starts and the performance. Very easy access to the spark plug, so if you like tinkering you can check the cylinder pressure in about 2 minutes :-)))

+Pao Reno Just for my curiosity, how about the insurance, tax and servicing?
@PaoReno
@PaoReno 8 жыл бұрын
+Martin oh its similar really. Tax is more because of engine size. But my insurance its the same.

Marty_Ventura You are welcome! Yesterday I did my first 1000 miles in it. I still like it very much. And I have found the matching panniers (GIVI E21)

Hey Pao Reno bike looks lovely. Do you know how to lift the seat up? I have saddle bags on my ybr and i need to remove the seat as the saddle bags sit across the bike under my seat. Any help would be great?
@PaoReno
@PaoReno 10 жыл бұрын
Hi Phil, l haven't done it myself but l found advice online - "You take off the left hand battery panel using your key, then unscrew the right hand side (Screw is located at the base of the panel). There are then two bolts that retain the seat to remove. Slide the seat forward and lift." let me know if that worked :) what panniers did you get? l was looking for some as well but nothing specific for ybr on a market :(

i've been looking into getting one for myself and as a complete noob i just wondered does it have any sort of indication for what gear you're in? from what i've seen it only tells you if it's in neutral or not, nothing to say if you're in 1st, 2nd or 3rd
@PaoReno
@PaoReno 10 жыл бұрын
hey Matt, no this one doesn't show you what gear are you on, but its quite easy to learn that. you can totally feel that after few rides. l wouldn't like to many indicators - you are supposed to look at the road not screens on your bike ;)) you will feel that your bike is going slow and quiet - means you have to drop one gear down. & when its "screaming" means you need to go one up;) l only use 1,2 &3 in a city. mainly 2&3 really. 4&5 is only useful when you go 40mph and up.

thanks for the reply. since posting my question i have been to see a second hand one at a dealer and have a sit on it, felt so perfect! like it was built for me i saw it only had the N indicator but thinking about it since i feel like i don't need to see what gear i'm in i know where first is and that's the main thing to get going lol i'm going to search around some more see what else fits my budget but i have already fallen in love with this machine

I had a chance to test in on a day trip in oxfordshire. It goes 55mph max which is disappointing..not sure of its restricted.

Different make engine oil can affect the gear changes. Castrol power 1 usually gives a slicker feel than the low end Silkolene oils but Silkolene comp 4 has been good in my motorbikes. If ur struggling finding neutral at standstill have u tried lifting lever into 2nd gear them pressing down lightly to go from 2nd into neutral instead of the normal 1st into neutral?
