I wish if Yamaha added some dyno EPs to their CP/YC lines.

You can tweak the 73Rd Studio patch into the Dyno direction.

Excellent performance and very authentic Rhodes piano sounds.

The first example reminds me of the Dawn Discovery music from the Dirty Harry soundtrack, beautiful, thanks for sharing, I think the YC88 has killer Rhodes tones, but the panning effect isn't spot on ( but this can be said for all the other manufactures , Nord are the only outfit that have nailed the panning effect, but I'm not keen on Nords for other reasons.

Yes, panning is little artificial. I allways replace it with tremolo.

Thanks for taking the time to record these. Great pieces of playing and a clear demo of the sounds. I haven't checked your other videos yet but I'd like to hear without the panning tremolo effects.

Hi Pete - thanks for this, what a great run through. I own a YC 61 but still found this really useful to get the feel for the gamut of sounds - maybe because you play better than I do :)

Hey, great playing and sounds! I like the 78RD and the 73Rd Studio the most. The Studio has great natural overtones. What do you think about it in comparison to the Nord Rhodes samples?
@PeteCalandra
@PeteCalandra 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. What I would say is that, for me, the action and connection to the sound this keyboard has is better than the electro 6HP I used to own. While I think the sounds are comparable and in a band or track it would be hard to tell the difference, the feel of this helps me to play better.

Very nice, I wonder if you can find out if those same voices are installed on Yamaha PSR SX keyboards? like psr sx900

Hi Bernard, I can’t say for certain but I think these sounds were specifically made for the current YC and CP keyboards. They also might have some crossover with the Montage and MoDX
@1970piano
@1970piano 2 жыл бұрын
@@PeteCalandra The Rhodes on the Montage are not bad but they are miles away from the quality of those in the YC/CP, at least for me.

The "73Rd Patch" reminds me of the classic "R&B Soft" it sounds so smooth. I should ask though, since you have a real Rhodes at the back, how do the YC and the Rhodes compare? I know Rhodes are like luxury watches, the only thing the share is the name but they are all different.
@PeteCalandra
@PeteCalandra 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. My rhodes sounds great but the action is not as detailed as the Yamaha. The other benefit of the YC is that it has multiple rhodes samples and not just one instrument. Thanks for watching and the comments!

@@PeteCalandra Brilliant playing. Its gonna take one helluva lot of practice for me to get to one tenth of your immense level... Very interesting to hear your take on the YC's Rhodes sounds, as the owner of a real one.

I get distracted by the improvisations and the fine playing, but to my ear I prefer the 78Rd Patch and the 73Rd Studio Patch most. Their base notes are cleaner, less distorted. But driving the base to distortion might be a style element for some of the other patches. Regardless, I’m watching it a few times in a row, because I really enjoy the improvs. Thanks!

Def good sample sets. Do wonder though why they couldn’t combine them with the CP1 modeling tech?
@PeteCalandra
@PeteCalandra 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Christine. Thanks for watching. Good question. Not sure the answer but given that the CP1 sells for 5300 dollars i would imagine price is part of the equation.

Wow :-) I was so impressed, that I bought the YC61. Maybe you have me a hint: If I play, my YC61 sounds like a toy, very little bass or middle. Do you change the velocity curve and depth? What do u change to become that wonderful sound that I hear in your video? Thank you very much, Tom
@PeteCalandra
@PeteCalandra 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom. The keyboard is different on the YC61 from the YC88 so you may have to play around with that. I use the built in EQ on the front panel to shape the sounds. You can do quite a bit of work with the EQ to fill out the sounds

Sorry for the off topic question, is that a desk with a sort of stand for a keyboard? I could actually need one, any suggestions? Also, I just wanted to say that I loved your playing, amazing work. :)

Thanks for watching and the comment. It’s from a company called Buso Audio. There are other companies that make them as well. I picked this one because it fit the dimensions of my space well.

The CP does not, however, have the same effects. You can get better EPs from the YC as a result of the amp simulations and different effects routing options.

does yamaha yc have synth sounds?
@PeteCalandra

Yes it does as well as organ sounds with drawbars. It's main focus is as a well rounded stage keyboard for gigging. Not as a synth replacement.
