@@luigiganggamernumber1tpc It sounds like a v8 because it's a crossplane crankshaft, so it naturally has a deeper more rumbley sound. And most cars can't really sound like this simply because the engines are WAY bigger and have significantly lower rpm limits.

Cross-plane generally refers to the R1's crank in Yamaha's context... And higher in terms of Mustang's Coyote v8 and Shelby 350's flat crank! So yes it's easier to relate and understand when you say it's a 270° parallel cylinder engine

Di detailed yung explanation ng mechanic. 180° crank shaft is typically used configuration sa inline 2 dahil no need na masyado ng malaking counter balance dahil 180° apart ang agwat sa isa't-isa, pag nasa TDC ang isang piston andun naman sa BDC ang isang piston. Sa 270° naman is after mag fire ng isang cylinder need pa mag rotate up to 270° saka mag fire ang isang cylinder, ang advantage is more traction contribution compared to 180° pero medyo may power loss na dahil additional counter balance na ang inilagay sa crank shaft para mas ma minimize ang vibration. 360° which is used sa motor na yan ang biggest down side is mas malaki ang power loss nya halimbawa kung same CC lang sya sa ibang motor na may ibang configuration like 180° and dahilan is mas malaki ang need na counterbalancer para ma counter ang force sa impact after igniting a piston gaya ng 1 cylinder engine na may additional weight ang counter balance sa crank shaft

Yamaha calls everything with a crossplane crank shaft a cross plane crank cause the R1 has an inline 4 with a crossplane crank. Now, technically the MT07 is a crossplane crank but it’s not unique in this engine layout like it is in the r1 being the only cpc in any inline 4.
