I get to hear that type of comparison all the time, but it just reminds me that old aviation joke An Airbus 380 is on its way across the Atlantic. It flies consistently at 800 km/h in 30,000 feet, when suddenly a Eurofighter with Tempo Mach 2 appears. The pilot of the fighter jet slows down, flies alongside the Airbus and greets the pilot of the passenger plane by radio: "Airbus flight, boring flight isn’t it? Take care and have a look here!” He rolls his jet on its back, accelerates, breaks through the sound barrier, rises rapidly to a dizzying height, only to swoop down almost to sea level in a breathtaking dive. He loops back next to the Airbus and asks, "Impressive?" The Airbus pilot answers: "Very impressive, but now have a look here!" The jet pilot watches the Airbus, but nothing happens. It continues to fly stubbornly straight, with the same speed. After five minutes, the Airbus pilot radioed, "Well, do you have to say now?" "What did you do?" Asked the confused fighter pilot. "I didn't see anything impressive." The other laughs and says, "I got up, stretched my legs, went to the back of the flight to the bathroom, got a cup of coffee and a cinnamon cake and made plans for a date with a stewardess tonight. Impressive?"

Harley has been struggling for a reason. The price is a high barrier of entry for newer riders and the customer base they aim for is dying off. Sure they have the factory customization options, but you pay at a premium. 99% of Harley owners act the way they do to justify the fact they got bent over by the dealership and get easily triggered when you criticize HD in the slightest.

Harley is struggling and for obvious reasons. They just aren’t practical for people that actually ride their bikes. I started on dirt as a kid and at 18 hit the street on a sport tour. I progressed to super sports and then transitioned to a dyna bobber in my 30s, then back to naked sports in my late 40s. I enjoy the standard sports much more than the super sports or cruisers and they are much easier/cheaper to maintain. I’ll probably end up on another sport tour before I give it up. I also just acquired a z125 pro and am actually having quite a blast on that as well. I don’t put Harleys down because I’ve owned one myself but the stereotypes exist for a reason. They’re mostly either shithead yups with more money than sense or assholes with anger issues. Some of them are cool and ride other brands as well but the die hard Harley guys tend to fit the molds of the two previously mentioned categories. Opinion of someone that’s been riding for 39 years.

Let’s put logic into this. HD riders is about long distance. And sport bike riders isn’t . Right ?!? That’s what you’re saying. 1. That’s what HD riders say why they stopped riding sport bikes long distance. Not sport bike riders they still riding. The ones saying that are what? Late 30s and up. Don’t rider a lot anymore because of 100 different excuses Or let’s face it. They didn’t ride anyway. Maybe didn’t even own a damn bike and just say they did. Now HD riders ride less hours day to day they most sport bike riders. Now let’s throw in the fact you say sport bikes as in all non cruiser, looking type bikes. Sport bike riders put more time in the seat day to day all day. In 1 state then 86% of HD that took that 3 state trip they take only once a year and do short bar to bar club house to club house in state trip. Hands down. So yall logic don’t make sense. And yes “I ride”. Get this ride “ride” to other states and I’m not talking that 2hr to get to 2 states any direction like the east coast. And ride daily. On my sport bike. I also rode a few HDs long distances. And short. Baggers also. You know what hurts when riding HDs. My back!!!!! I’m hunched over like Quasimoto In a recliner without a back. On my sport bike it was my knees. Why because I have bad knees.

@rickyhawkins7407 in the 1980s Regan imposed a 49% tarriff on Japanese motorcycles, and which was not imposed against ...stating that because Harley was American and played a significant role in WWII they deserved a competitive market place advantage... This came after Harley suffered its first year of losses against Japanese bikes between 81 and 82 .. In 2002 Harley lobbied the Bush administration to drop it's plans to impose tarriffs in European steel as that's where they were buying their product from In 2008 Harley used government loans to a total of 2.3billion to avoid taking losses and keep their corporate officers and share holders paid . And finally in 2016 Harley avoid Trump's tarriffs on imports for their Brazil, Thailand and European factoriess... Which will continue on with Trump's new tarriffs he plans to unload .. effectly protecting Harley one more time from tarriffs that have affected other brands of bikes. I have ridden one since 1992. My first was a 1974 FXE “Shovelhead.” Harley has made significant improvements in their machines since those days. Are they as technologically advanced as their foreign competition, no. But their core market doesn’t want that either. They scream and stomp anytime the company changes or modernizes anything. And don’t even get me started on the smear campaign the last couple of years because of the changes the CEO made to the machines or maintaining employees. Back in the day i went through a faze where i wanted to make a farley(fake Harley), had a Suzuki Boulevard, it was a carb version so yah 2001ish, to make a long story short i was a big fan of the Heritage softail, got many of the Harley parts, whitewall tires, tons of Harley chrome bits then got deep into fabrication, a part diden't fit? no problem, bending metal and fabing new connections/just made it work one way of another, nedless to say it was fun. Kind of a "taste of Harley customizing" but yeh even with metric cruisers there is a bounty of parts choices. In my older age ive gone off in a different direction, fully a Triumph guy now but never the less you do you, whatever it may be. -Cheers

@@mikein60fps30 I think it would suck if all bikes were created equally in all categories. Sure most bikes have aftermarket but you can not argue that HD has the most bolt on ready parts. That’s just a fact. For many this is a high value point. To each their own, I don’t like crotch rockets, also don’t like the gear but I understand it suits their desire and has value for them. And that’s great. 2 wheels 1 love.

I actually don't get either side, though I'm closer to the H-D side. I am 65, and I started riding at age 10 on a Bultaco Lobito 100 dirt bike. I got my license and first street bike at age 16. It was a Suzuki GT380 2 stroke triple. I didn't pick that bike specifically for any specific reason. I wanted a used street bike that I could afford, and quickly found that one for sale. And it was a lot of fun. It was what I would call a "standard". Everybody but Honda made 2 strokes back then. Then at age 21, I got my first brand new street bike. A 1980 Suzuki GS450L. A small displacement Japanese CRUISER. I loved the way it looked, and the riding position was far more comfortable than the GT380. And it was totally highway capable for a solo rider. I put over 40,000 miles on that bike, mostly touring. After that bike, I went through a long list of Japanese cruisers. They got bigger and bigger. And I used all of them for touring. My trips got longer and longer. I never had any desire to go fast, never cared anything about handling, as long as it was acceptable. Comfort and ability to cover long distance was most important. And so was the looks. I love the cruiser look. At least the way cruisers USED to look. Bright shiny paint, bright aluminum, and lots of chrome. I've also had a number of dirt and dual sport bikes, as well as a few vintage British bikes. One kind of bike I have never owned, and in fact cannot stand, is crotch rockets. They are insanely uncomfortable, there is no place on them to carry anything, and I consider them super ugly. They are fine on the track, but they were never designed for the street. They were built for track use. On the streets there are speed limits and unpredictable traffic. Every crotch rocket rider I have ever seen has been riding recklessly, irresponsibly, and illegally. Crotch rockets are seriously overrepresented in crash statistics, part of that has to do with their design, the other part is that they are mostly ridden by IDIOTS like this Yammie Noob guy. The streets are NOT racetracks. There is a reason why MX bikes are not street legal, and crotch rockets shouldn't be street legal either. Just like MX bikes, they should be for closed course competition only. I have always liked the looks, sound, and feel of Harleys. That is OLDER Harleys. Back in 1995, I tried to buy a new base model 883 Sportster. They wanted TWICE msrp for it, and it would take 6 months to get it. They insinuated that I could get it faster if I was willing to pay more. I told them where to stick it, went down the street, and bought a new Kawasaki Vulcan 750 for UNDER msrp. I have owned three Vulcan 750s and still have one. Two bought new, the last one bought used. They are by far the most comfortable mid sized motorcycle I have ever ridden. I have put over 230,000 miles on them. I have had a couple of Goldwings. I found them boring, and didn't keep them that long. Kind of like driving a 2 wheeled car. I've never had any desire to own or ride a H-D bagger either. Back in 2003, I got my first Harley. A 1989 FXRS Low Rider. I still have it, and absolutely love it. For me it is the perfect H-D touring bike. And when I say touring bike, I'm talking about Easy Rider style touring. Back in 2016, I bought a 2002 Sportster 1200C. I wanted to do some shorter distance Then Came Bronson style touring. I have owned close to 40 different bikes, about half of them bought new. Starting in the '80s, there was always a new motorcycle that I wanted. I spent a fortune trading one bike for another. That all ended when EFI, ABS, traction control, rider modes, and flat black came along. There is no longer a single new motorcycle of any type or brand that I want, or would even ride. That includes all newer Harley Davidsons. I will not ride a flat black computer. And the M8 bikes are just as smooth and quiet as a Goldwing. I know because I test rode one. I currently own five bikes. My 1989 FXRS Low Rider, 2002 Sportster 1200C, a 1997 Kawasaki Vulcan 750, a 1966 Triumph Bonneville, and a 2009 Suzuki DR650. All carbureted, no computers, all except the DR650 are bright and shiny with lots of chrome. NO flat black. The DR650 is yellow, with an unpainted aluminum engine, wheels, and other parts. I have ridden over a million miles. I have never crashed. I have never gotten a ticket on a motorcycle. I always ride alone, never in groups, and I do not carry passengers. No phones, no stereos. My riding time is MY time. Just me, the bike, and the road. I have never known anyone else who rode a motorcycle. I am not the socializing type.

The young people like me who do ride Harley’s ride dynas fxrs, sporty chops, the young side of HD is still alive and well, if you want to knock Harley for anything it’s not really giving the riders like me a lot of love. Touring riders are born every year when somebody trades their sport bike to Hd. And those bikes do what they need to do. But I love HD. Sure the brand needs some change, but what doesn’t?

Yammie is overanalyzing all his (and other's) personal reasons for riding (or not) Harleys. I started on Triumphs in the sixties, had some friends on Harleys. That's all there were. We all could afford only older used bikes, learned to fix them as we learned to ride. After almost sixty years of being around bikes, it is obvious to me that not just bike culture, but all culture, has changed. But Yammie, one thing has not changed--Triumphs and Harleys are still the coolest! And at 80, I still have one of each. And my heart still flutters every time I get on one. You can keep those plastic bikes that are worth nothing after five years.

I ultimately ended up sticking with Triumph's but had a friend (who picked up a sporster and she would let me ride it)/loved that bike, it had soul even though it was just a sporster/though heavily moded.) Some people get the Harley thing and others dont, at the end of the day to each his own. Annd to through a curve ball into things, have you heard of Janus motorcycles? hand built American made even some Amish hand made parts thrown in (leather etc)/though with a import honda clone engine. They sure are something else, 1920's vibe 🤔 kinda like to get my hands on one of those, talk about "an old school vibe" light, small (they make a 250, 450 versions) but man thats how the first bikes were/kind of a beefy bicycle with a engine thrown in it, wow just something else. Best of luck, -Cheers

I came so close to pulling the trigger on so many very nice extremely low mileage used wide glides and other dynas . I grew up around Harley’s like the sound they look good love that there made in America. I ended up buying a bike with more suitable for me I just always rode a standard non sport light bike. Honestly most of the Japanese bikes don’t appeal to me even though I’ve owned a dozen of them. We are day trippers but I demand comfort good breaks and power and a seating position that puts me in total control of the bike especially in an emergency. Ended buying the new Bonnie she’s a sweet with all the new stuff I wanted. Ive been riding every weekend no Harleys in sight since it got cold in the northeast. The funny thing is lots of Harley riders don’t consider non Harley riders non bikers just another reason I bought a non Harley.

However, from my experience (through others that I know), I don't feel that they build a reliable motorcycle and that's the main reason I probably won't own one. That being said, I don't care what anyone else rides. They didn't spend my money on it. The only thing I care about is not being a douche nozzle just because someone rides something different than you. I buy what I think checks all the boxes and I'm sure everyone else does the same. After trying a Harley last summer I learned how much weight has to be thrown into a turn compared to my ADV bike and the Suzuki Savage I started on, but I was also blown away by how comfortable it was to ride. It’s why I’m debating on upgrading to a cruiser or a scrambler to see if that riding style could cause me to want a Harley in the future. I will give sport bikes credit for having the rule of cool on their side, but I’ve found that I prefer comfort and preferably the option to off-road on my bike.

There are a number of idiots in every group regardless of what they ride...that said, Harley guys often aspire to play an elitist angry character. Like when rappers aspire to sometimes flaunt wealth. There are community/societal assumptions that pigeonhole riders with a certain appearance...just be cool to everyone even if they're rude to you...kill with coolness. If you don't like it when another rider passes you and you bum rush them for simply passing (on the left in the other lane) you...I think you might need some support in other areas of your life 🇺🇲

@@TheZX11 Agreed. My ZX10R is the most comfy on my road trips. Doing road trips with upright bikes is like mountain bikes doing the Tour de France. I can't explain the feeling. It's the thump. If a Harley pulls up next to your super sound insulated car and it has a stock exhaust, you can FEEL the Harley in your car. Alright Adam, you earned my subscription with this video. I have to agree with everything you said. I have watched a few Yammie Noob videos but after that one, I think I will avoid them until he broadens his outlook. His style is condescension and I feel watching his videos supports or encourages his style. Like you, I have ridden many motorcycles and enjoyed every single one and have no issue with any of the styles of bikes or riding - as long as you are not negligently endangering others. I started my motorcycle journey on a 60cc Suzuki (age 7 or 8?), moving to a massive 90cc Yamaha and then more old junkers, never owning a new bike until I bought a 1984 Honda Sabre V45. Even at that time, I would have bought an H-D, if I could have afforded it. Being a dirt-broke pump of 20, the Sabre was a dream. My brother and his 'clan' all rode Harley's. My uncle and his wife road just about anything - BMW, Moto Guzzi, Aprilla, Honda (his wife road her Gold Wing to work every day while pregnant up to the day she gave birth)... the list of bike's in my family is long. The H-D clan, they never cared if I showed up as the sole Honda and rode with them. It was just a bike and I was just another biker. No one cared. Eventually, I had the job to allow me to buy a Road King. I bought it in Norfolk, VA, rode to San Diego, then back to Texas, the first week - due that on a sport bike confortably. I loved my Street Glide, bought a few years after the Road King. Now, my stable has a H-D (Pan America), KTM, Honda and Indian. All very different. All for their own purpose. Track - check. Mountains - check. ADV - Check. Touring - Check. Why some people cannot accept that all bikes are bikes. If you ride a Grom, you are riding. Make that Gold Wing yours if that is you. Swap pipes on your track bike for the sound, okay. I wave/salute every bike I meet and most return the gesture. The community does not care so much what you ride. Just ride your ride.

I support any channel that serves to promote motorcycle riding, especially now in times where our youth are torn away from adventurous lifestyles by computers, the internet and social media. I like Yammie Noob's channel, because he attracts and appeals to the more youthful audience and opens the door to them to the world of motorcycles. This is not a bad thing in my books. In this video, Yammie separates the HD riding community from the broader motorcycle community for purposes of creating entertaining discussion. He succeeded, because, amongst others, he prompted someone making a reactionary video about this. A little about me. I have been riding bikes since 5 y/o (Honda Z50 being my first, which I still have). I presently own a gen 4 Kawasaki ZX10R and a Harley V-Rod Muscle. Riding these bikes enrich my life and each of them serve up a different riding experience. Believe it or not, for long road trips (+/- 2000km loops) I choose my Kawa every time, as its simply more comfortable (my physique, ergonomics etc) than any other bike I have taken on road trips. Interestingly, look at the distance of Tour De France cycling race compared to races done with more upright bicycles. My final remark: HD has and should continue to coexist well with other brands of bikes. I did not buy my HD based on financial considerations or because I needed to commute or because of its comparative performance features & attributes. I bought an HD simply because I WANTED ONE.

I have been riding motorcycles since I was 10 years old and I am now 68. I started riding Harleys in 1991 purchasing a 1992 turquoise and white Harley Davidson heritage. At that time when you rode a Harley Davidson, you were literally like a celebrity. People would come up to you talk to you about your bike, even if they did not ride. One of the coolest things was for about eight or nine years you would get men over 70 who fought in World War II who came up and talked about how they rode one in the war or they purchased one after the war. They would share their stories about racing them and how much they enjoyed their Harley Davidson. It was awesome. This is something that never happens today. Once someone asked me what is it about Harley Davidson I said if I need to explain you won’t get it. I rode Japanese Japanese bikes for years and I do love Japanese bikes as well.

Hey Adam Sandoval, Do you remember when you were a Nobody and Harley Davidson only gave away new Motorcycles to Celebrities like Elvis and Jason Momoa? So Jason took a Brand New HD that had been given to him and he painted it flat back with rattle cans of spray paint? To me that was very Cringe If HD's have such good fit an finish why do you need to paint them with aerosol pant cans? Harley Davidson was the Last Motorcycle MFG to work with KZbin channel bikers. Remember your World's biggest Harley Davidson Parade, the one that you Organized with no Help or Interest from HD. Then HD shows up and tries to take Credit for it? Have you noticed the $Million Dollar Bogan ride HD's for years and never got a dime of promotion from HD until Laidlows HD got him some Free parts and accessories from HD? Remember that Diversity hire CMO Senior Marketing, Brand Builder and advocate for Consumers Heather Malenshek didn't support your riding to every HD Dealer in the Continental USA? Remember when HD offered you a contract to Promote HD's only and you had to agree to never be seen riding on or sitting on any other Brand of Motorcycle? It's sort of like your New Girl friend is prettier than your EX girl friend. Adam did you ever buy an Indian Challenger, or did Indian loan you 1 for a year? I can't think of anything you could do to get more Sponsorship and Free Stuff from HD than to ride an Indian for a year. The HD Street 500 & Street 750 have been discontinued a couple or years ago or more. I am not sure if they still build them in Asia and sell them in other Countries or not. The Cheapest HD you can buy in 2024 is the Nightster for $12,000.00 +++++ all of the HD taxes. The Cheapest Touring Bike you can buy is the Road King Special with no Windshield for $25,000.00 The Street Glide and Road Glide for $26,000.00 ++++ all of the HD Taxes and extras and sales tax ect. Then the next price is $32,500.00 Yes the Honda Gold Wing is a Far Superior Motorcycle especially in Reliability. I hate all of the Plastic on them. Labor is Horrendous to work on them because you have to unscrew all of the Plastic. Harleys have a lot of Stator failures thanks to all of their Vibrations. The Gold Wing has a Car alternator on it which is easy to replace on the side of the road with a few simple hand tools. Keep in mind , the most I paid for a new car is $7,190.00 for my new Z-28 Camaro in 1979.. As far as adding aftermarket parts, @ 14,000 Miles I put headers on it a much hotter cam Single plane Intake Holley 600 CFM Double pump carburetor and Headers. I basically doubled my power.. then I put bigger sway bars front and rear for much better handling too and wider tires. If I had to pay $32,000.00 for a new Touring bike the last thing I would want to have to do is spend thousands more for better suspension ect. Adam you get lots of Free stuff for Promoting after market parts, good for you, but Most Modern Motorcycles don't need $5,000 to $10,000 in aftermarket parts to make them ride like an Indian and perform like an Indian does stock. As far as loyal owners there are Huge Goldwing Clubs too. It looks like 2021 was the last year for the Street 500 or the Street 750 in the USA. HD Imports small Parallel Twins for their Riding Academy, but they don't sell them in the USA. A Chinese Company bought Italian Benelli .. and Benelli Dealers do sell them in the USA for $1,500.00 less than HD Dealers were going to sell them before the New HD CEO cancelled them. It's called the Benelli Leoncino 500 and 300, Italian for Lyon. Would you pay $1,500.00 more for an almost identical bike to get an HD Badge on the gas tank and the HD Orange Color? They are made in China so you should not have to pay Yamaha or Honda Prices. Harley Davidson does not sell 1/3 of the Motorcycles in the USA, they sell 1/3 of the Cruiser bikes over 750 CC's in the USA.. Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KTM, Ducatti .. BMW , Aprillia , Husqvarna Gas Gas sell many Dirt Bikes, adventure bikes Small Street bikes Enduros ect. The Biggest year for HD Sales in the World was 300,000 units. For Perspective in 1979 GM sold 288,000 Camaros.. Plus Chevelles, Monte Carlos, Nova's and Pickups. Remember only 3% of USA Drivers License Holders have a motorcycle endorsement on their License. The most Popular Motorcycle in the World is the Honda Cub with over 300 Million of them sold .
