Yammie : As a Ducatista myself, riding six of them since starting in 2006 with a Monster, I can wholeheartedly recommend any Ducati ever built. YES, it's an expensive brand, but worth it. I had an original Rocket 3 as well, and it was just too much, too heavy, and too fast... but I think it brought me more attention than any bike I have owned. I loved being able to roast the tire from every stop. It was my coolest bike, by far.

As an owner of a 2024 FTR R-Carbon Limited, and having spent over 3K miles with it now, it is unquestionably the most fun I've ever had on two wheels. It's so alive and it has so much character. It wants nothing more than to rip your spine out and the engine is just pure bliss. You get to actually play with it on the street and rev it out, the shifts are amazing, and the tech is def a nice feature. It's the most enjoyable experience for a V-Twin and it's getting a suite of upgrades soon too, so I'm very excited for that.

This was fun! I have a 2010 Ducati Streetfighter 1098s. Riding it is the most fun you can have with your cloths on. Analog, raw, visceral beast! Not for the faint of heart or the inexperienced, as I'm sure Yammy can attest to, having had a 1098 Superbike. That 1098 Testastretta engine is a work of art and has loads of character (booming twin, dry clutch rattle, middle finger attitude)....something the newer Ducati's are missing, as capable as they are. And yes, it is a bit of a commitment to own one of these older Ducatis....you either accept that the valve tolerance intervals are going to cost you at the shop when the time comes, or you are a nerd like myself, who not only does the valve job (saving a bunch of money) but, enjoys it! No other bike puts a smile on my face or makes me laugh like a madman like the SF1098s does! And when I am doing the valves on the Ducati, I have my Z900rs (with akropovic headers, airbox mods and flash) to ride. 😁 All the bikes on this list are cool and I cannot argue with the reasons given. Ride what makes you smile. Have fun. Motorcycles are great! I'd have ten of them if I could afford it! 😁🍻

I had a MV 750 back in the day. Fantastic to look at and sounded like a Ferrari but it wasn't loud and there were no after market pipes at that time. You heard more sound from the air intake which was part of the tank. Sold it after only one year. Not because it let me down but the riding position makes it impossible to ride for longer than 30 minutes. Wrists, neck, hips and knees all scream out in pain.

I had an 848 for about 15 years, I only sold it because I could no longer be in that position for more than 10 minutes. The bike had no issues and was the perfect road weapon… once I put 1050 brakes on it. Why it had lame Brembos from the factory is no mystery but was misguided to say the least.

I found the MV Agusta F4 750cc to be extremely reliable over 15 years and 27,000 miles when I owned one. They were expensive bikes new, but at the right time - late 90's early 2000's they could be cheap 2nd hand, now the value like many nice bikes has risen. The rear Hub bearings can be under torqued slightly to avoid distorting the outer bearing cage, and routinely properly greased/checked. Or replaced with the very good aftermarket Hub available through the best internet fan sites. The bike should not be pressure washed(don't be lazy) and particularly the rear hub. The engines can over heat at slow speed and they melt the belly pan (lowest part front fairing) on the right side (as you sit) in the area closest to the exhaust. Fit a manual fan over ride switch (switch on as soon as you are going slower than 35mph) and use decent exhaust wrap on the first half of the exhaust system (6 inches past the rear brakes master cylinder should do) are the cheapest fix's. This exhaust wrap will also stop the rear brakes master cylinder from boiling the brake fluid and thus having no rear brake. Also check the heat shielding in the belly pan is still stuck down properly as the adhesive can fail in that hostile area over time. If fitting new shielding do a thorough job and seal the edges of the shielding to keep it stuck down for good. The riding position is sporty and is quite tiring after 3 hrs in the saddle unless your young and or fit.

I'm a yamaha simp through and through, but this time around i bought a Scrambler 1200 XE purely because i thought it was incredibly cool. No regrets at all, it IS incredibly cool. That said, in total honesty this is one fun list video I agree entirely with, and ill go somfar to say that often we riders get carried away comparing spec sheets, and more often should just buy the bike we find really cool. Particularly those more "they're their own thing" bikes like the 701, or the Indian FTR. Bikes that arent trying to be a copy of another bike, and bikes that just really tickle your giblets.

I feel that Harley made a huge mistake by discontinuing the EVO Sportster. I think H-D could have made them Euro 5 compliant (supposedly the reason they were killed) with a little work. The new Sportsters just do not have the clean aesthetic of the air-cooled bikes, and very little of the EVO's cool-factor. Fortunately for guys like me the used market is flooded with lightly used EVO Sportys.

I think the new Buell Hammerhead 1190 is super sexy and should be on the list; just barley over 400 lbs with over 100 lb-feet of torque! It's the spot bike version of the Super Duke that KTM refuses to make... Don't get me wrong, that MV is one of the sickest bikes ever imo, but the chances of it turning out to be the bike that kills me are just too high. A painful, and totally avoidable, death by panic induced heart attack (seconds after screaming my final words- "NOO, it broke down!? It's all over, I'm SCREWED!!!") if a coil or plug died/ needed to be replaced- I'd ride it once, maybe twice, before hopping off (thanking God I made it back still running) and immediately selling it 😂 The KTM RC8 is the only one on this list that I might see myself keeping if someone gave it to me for free (and only if I really liked how it rides)

@kevindowell6003 I'm surprised anyone else who watches this guy's video's even knows what I'm talking about. It was a blessing to have experienced the late 90's-00 motorcycles. @@davidlagno7717 The 80’s and 90’s motorcycles brought in awesome innovation that added to riding, fuel injection and ABS but still retained the fundamentally simple essence of the motorcycle. Manufacturers have forgotten the spirit and essence of riding and are engineering the experience of the machine out of the machine, too much tech just cause they can. I also have a Moto Guzzi V7 Special. The 60 plus mpg and reliable cold start, predictable performance at all temperatures and altitudes is appreciated. The extra margin of safety from ABS is appreciated. But fundamentally it is still just a basic simple motorcycle, the experience of the machine is still very much there. I wish motorcycles and cars for that matter would return to those principles
@kevindowell6003

@ I don’t know why KZbin fails to post some of my replies…here it is again. The ‘80’s and ‘90’s were great. Fuel injection and ABS on motorcycles that were still simple motorcycles with the essence of the machine and the spirit of riding left intact. Engineers spend too much time engineering out the experience of the machine and make machines that are far more than the average rider can handle. If a machine needs traction or wheelie control, then I would argue that is too much. My traction control has a sensor on my cheeks and is regulated through my wrist. I have a Moto Guzzi V7 Special that is still a simple motorcycle with the experience and character of the machine still front and center. We shouldn’t forget the awesome V4 in the Honda ST1100

I owned Ducati 900ss, I ride it for 3-4 months at the time and then it go to the service shop for a year at the time to repair..... sad but true...., by my honda CB1300, never ever spent over 3 days at the shop and it can ride 1000+ km per day easily!!!

Funny you mentioned the Sportster after the new Adam Sandoval video sihtting on you and Sportsters and telling you that you need to find the right Harley because the only point of the stripped down Harleys is so that people will buy the touring model bikes when they get more money. Oh, and there's straw man arguments aplenty.
