They overpriced and made a mess of the release in R3 in India. Considering it used to be one of my favourite back in 2016 when I first rode it and wanted to finally buy (thinking it would be affordable), but no. Aprilia on the other hand with its release of RS457, nailed it. It offers more power and features at a much lower price in India. I still have mixed feelings about the release of Ninja 500, I preferred the Ninja 400 for its nimbleness, even though 500 might have more torque but once again it will be overpriced. That being said, Ninjas will do very well but mostly in the pre-owned market in India. KTM on the other hand is kicking ass but it has that hooligan/squid/chapri image in India. Really would have loved if RC390 new model got released soon. Honda again has disapponted by not launching a twin cylinder sports. Neither 8S nor R7 are coming to India, which is a disappointment again.

A lot of it has to do with emissions. Using larger displacement to keep similar power figures. Negative to that is you get lower reving motors with bottom end grunt, super fun for seasoned riders, but tourqe is the last thing a brand new rider needs with zero experience. Most "Beginner" bikes have near 30ft-lbs of tourqe or more now and will pop the front up with a good twist in low gears.

One point of disagreement on a starter bike. Resale is the most important feature and the CF MOTO will not have that. This is a starter bike and the best I can find on a used starter bike from Honda or Kawasaki that is three years old, is 75% of the new purchase price. You would be lucky to get 50% on the CF. Am I full of it? Well I own a Hyosung that I purchased with 300 miles on it for 33% of its new sale value. The bike is not bad, you just can't sell it.

Disagree, the entry level category doesn’t need to get faster. A true beginner bike should specifically be slow and lightweight with more forgiving throttles to keep riders from making disastrous mistakes. There are less riders on the road than ever and yet fatalities are steadily climbing even with better technology and I believe that has much to do with the culture of starting on bikes way too fast for them. (Recently rode with a new rider that started on a m109…I told him to be careful but lo and behold a month later he totaled it after riding only 4 months)

Interesting, thanks for sharing David. I've been keeping a close eye on this bike since its release & hadn't heard about this. It's a pretty big deal imo cause firstly if the pattern continues it's not a good look for their all new CP engine. Secondly it puts a huge question mark over the bikes reliability in the long term. Could see many unhappy owners in the future especially if the issue rears its head anytime after the warranty has expired. In Australia their new 450 MT adventure bike with the same engine is being released early this year, currently on preorder. So far it's garnered heaps of interest as us Aussies have been itching for a small displacement adventure bike like this for years & Cfmoto have really delivered. Any idea if Cfmoto have sorted a fix with a revised bearing so it won't affect their new adventure bike engine ?

Nice bro! I just passed my MSF and bought a 2016 R3 this last weekend. I’ve only had the chance to ride it home down the street but it does seem to be a good bike for starting. I’m sure we’ll both have better bikes with more features down the road

I agree with everything you’ve stated…they need to either drop the r3 and bring a r4 out or they need to upgrade the current output on the drivetrain they have now. Even the tech is outdated compared to the competition…needs a TFT color screen etc. They definitely need a 400cc variant.

Not enough power for American roads even if you're a beginner. The lack of power is a liability on our dangerous highways.

Used to own a MT-03, the R3 has enough power for the US highways. I personally took that bike to 105 mph and I'm 6ft, 205 lbs

I agree. I’m heavier than 250 and have a CBR 300 but once I hit 73ish the climb to 85/90 is slow. I never felt comfortable with enough to hit the highway.

They really need to slap in a smaller cc CP2 engine into the R3 if they want to compete.
@Eye_of_Samadhi8 ай бұрын
The R3 engine should've been a cross plane from the beginning IMO. If not in the 1st Gen AT LEAST in the 2nd Gen update from 2019 onwards it should've received a CP2.

First I want to submit that this may have been just an idea for content. He might not really think this way believe it or not. Coming up with great content isn't easy so...to be fair... But this idea that Yamaha is being complacent...resting on their laurels with the R3 is ludicrous. These four Japanese motorcycle makers we know and love all have rich storied, significant histories don't they? All really great stories of accomplishments and competing with each other..on the track and in the marketplace. We all know this. But what you all don't know is how fierce that competition has been. Every freaking day they don't waste a minute on doing the best they can. And yes a lot of it does have to do with that Japanese thing of excellence we all heard about. It's real and they're in it to win it. Still... Point is ..every single thing they all do is for a reason and passed an army of brilliant super geeks approval. So when you're trying to understand why they do what they do ..start with that in mind. Like the R3 for example. If you start with what I said in mind you might conclude that it is....Yamahas take on the perfect small cc sports bike. With the balance of cost/price factored in. But everything is intentional and has been meticulously considered. Now that is much more likely than anything like laziness or complacency.
