Thanks Mr. Noob for all your content. I started 50 years ago on a pair of Kawi 100 and 125 scramblers. Long story short....always start your biking experience off road if you can. Learn to handle those small dirt bikes like a rodeo star, learn to maintain it yourself. You will spend as much time on your ass as yu will in the saddle, but gettin' tossed around like a rag doll and breakin things is half the fun. You can ride them things 10 months of the year, and you will be tough, hard and cut like a navy seal. When you transition to a ADV, super sport, cruiser or bagger, everything yu learned off road will mostly apply to the street anyhow. The very best way to start is small, in the dirt and free of traffic bs. When yur tearin thru a forest dodging trees at 30 or 40 mph , then road traffic will seem real tame in comparison. Thanks for letting an old guy rant and reminisce. I really miss those days bro 😢.

Loved it! I have to admit, on my list of bikes I'm currently looking at include both the CB500X and F. Used to have a FJR1300 for me/wife to ride. She didn't like it, so I got a used Goldwing, which she loves. However, now I'm looking at adding something for ME, smaller, lighter. I'm 58, so I don't need 140mph (any more). I would suggest that one of the reasons people look at ADVs is for comfort. I found the CB500X had a great seating position, and those of us that want to avoid the V-Twin boat anchors, my choices are limited. At present, I've decided on an MT-07 (with raised bars) to give me the light weight, plenty of power, and a comfortable seating position. Apparently I'm a dying breed because I want neither a Harley (or wanna be) nor do I want to lean on my wrists for hours at a time. Okay, so I wandered off topic... great video, made me LOL... out loud. :-)

My first bike (at 21) was a CB500X. I'm a quite tall guy and had a relatively tight budget. Love it, even if i had to do some changes to get the ergonomics right. Spooled about 34'000kms on that thing in the last two-and a half years and absolutely adore it as a do-anything machine. I wanna buy a different bike with better ergonomics and cruise control so I'm currently saving up for a used R1200GSA.

You know yam, ADV 150 is a bike for those who wanted an ADV look while having the practicality of a scooter. And here where I live in Indonesia, it works fine since the traffic mostly only move at 40 mph and the road is narrow. Example, the highway here is only one lane and potholes is not a rare sight. Also, anything other than scooter here is doomed. Underbone? Their time has long pass. Proper bikes? Not enough practicality and expensive. Scooter? That's the one to go. This pretty much our mindset right now. But who am I? I've never rode an ADV 150. Heck, I've never rode something bigger than 155cc! Ps. My bike is a K45 CBR 150r and a first gen Yamaha NMax 155

There's another breed over here in Europe. The die hard classic Yamaha XT500 rider who can't stop droning about how the likes of his bike won the first two editions of the Rallye Dakar ever and therefore it reigns the ADV world supreme since its inauguration in 1976. That's B.C. of course. Even though for today standards the frame is too soft and heavy, the suspension too short and the brakes downright inexistent, not to speak of the ghastly 6V lighing system, they can't stop pointing out how this easy to fix 30-odd horsepower mototractor is by far the best vehicle ever to carry a human being across any desert anywhere in the known universe. They're a bit like the GSA folks but they set themselves apart in two important points. 1- they prefer good coffee over the shit at Starbucks. 2.- they're right. The whole ADV circus is basically just a dustcloud caused by the divine XT ridden by god himself. 😎

As a RE Himalayan owner, that is pretty much where I end that conversation. But my baby is my Ducati Hypermotard 1100 S 😍😍. The Himalayan gets all of my emotional abuse and frustration

I don’t know if I’m annoyed he didn’t pick on the DRZ- with every weight- adding adventure mod possible or not. Maybe I’m still cool. I almost bought a KLR.

Amanda from As the Magpie Flies has rolled over 50,000 miles on a CB500X so it can't be that bad.

I had to pause the video after the KLR roast to stop laughing. I ride a gen1 and do call it my pack mule. When you compared it to cockroaches surviving the apocalypse I lost it. lmfao Keep your guard up Mr. Noob, I think I saw Will Smith in the comments.

Almost every off-road biker I know is the kind that just to keep up to a completely made up standard of “doing extreme offroad tracks” will never admit that they enjoy easy tracks as well even if they actually aren’t experienced enough to do hard tracks when starting to do off-road i literally had troubles finding people who’d accept to do something easy to help me learn cause everyone was like “nah dude if it’s not extreme don’t bother me” most of them for the same reason (me included) had to learn by doing hard tracks (and they also pretty dangerous tracks ngl i once fell w the whole bike off a 6m cliff and had the whole group help me lift the whole bike back up to the track, got really lucky it wasn’t one of those like 30 mt and got out of it without getting hurt and w my bike still working)

As a brand new CB500x owner, that hit hard... right in the feebie jeebies. Still I wouldn't have it any other way.

It shouldn't. cb500x is an amazing little motorcycle, I wish I would have something as nice for a first motorcycle. All I had is ninja300 and trust me it was way worse. My little brother just bought cbr500r as his first motorcycle and I actually like it, It's very comfortable and torquey that is fun to ride. Actually looks like a proper quality motorcycle and not just something you throw away a year after. Just because it doesn't fit yammie's taste doesn't mean it's bad he is not an authority on what is and what isn't a good motorcycle.
