1983 Yamaha XT550, 1987 Kawasaki Ninja 250, 1988 Yamaha FZ600 and 1989 Yamaha FZR1000. I learned to ride on the XT550. Owned the Ninja for only 3 weeks and got hit on it. Had to get rid of the FZ600 after a ton of speeding tickets. After 22 years of not riding I bought a FZR1000 with only 4,002 miles on it in 2014. Have had it up to 154.3mph. Was my dream bike back in the day and still can't believe I own one.

Wonderful list.The Yamaha RD350 was a well known adrenalin ride in the states when it came out. It was sold in a beautiful yellow and black livery and scared the crxp out of anyone who rode it. A legendary two stroke full send machine. Everyone wanted one. All of the bikes you mentioned were truly unique and fun and that's what matters. That they gave you back as much fun as you put into them. That 675 must be a hell of a fine machine. Great video.

My favorite bike has to be the Triumph Rocket III Touring. Yes, they made a bagger model a few years back and I owned one. It was detuned but had a driver/passenger back rest, floor boards, hard cases, heel/toe shifter, quick detach windshield, auxiliary lighting, and the most comfortable riding position anyone with a bad back could ask for.

If you "like really unique riding experiences" but there are "not a lot of Japanese 4-cylinder bikes on the list" because you "don't find them that unique or esoteric or bespoke", then I strongly urge you to beg, borrow or steal to get a ride on a mid-80's Yamaha RZV500 and/or Suzuki RG500 Gamma; both, if at all possible. As a sport bike rider and racer, these are unicorns that I think you will love and add to your "Favorite" list (even though they're both carbureted 😛).

Thruxton RS or the Indian FTR are both on my list for my first street bikes. Beautiful machines, well reviewed.
@flatcapcaferacer
@flatcapcaferacer Жыл бұрын
I have owned a Thruxton R for 7 seven years and recently did a review on an FTR Carbon. In stock form the FTR is slightly more powerful but an ECU tune on the Thruxton RS evens it up. The motor on the RS is smoother and is more flexible. The ergonomics on the FTR is slightly better for longer rides but the RS is easier to live with.

No MT07? Surprising... In Spain we would call the RD350 "ataúd de pijos" (poshs' casket) because of all the raw power that the bike would make and the careless driving that their owners would do (we're talking about a time where driving with a helmet was not mandatory yet). A cousin had one and had an accident with it and always tells me that the RD350 "was just too fast, but fun as heck".

For many years my favorite bike I ever owned or tried was my 1984 Ninja 900. loved the looks for it's time, ergonomics, seat hight. engine, and most of all how stable it was. I wish I still owned it today. and after test riding many different bikes over the last three years. I ended up buying a bike without ever riding it first. and I just got lucky because I totally love it. it's a 2017 Ducati 939 Supersport with 2159 km on it. non S version. after only a couple of minutes of riding it I was in love. the bike has tons of character. has very nice usable power band, is nice and stable and holds a line really good. and it looks beautiful. It had new Pirelli Diablo Rossa lV tires on it. I had test ridden the XSR 900 just a few weeks before buying it. and liked it allot. but the price new where I live is 3 or 4 thousand dollars more then in America. so I didn't buy it. and I'm happy I didn't because as soon as I road the 939 I liked it more than the XSR. and I paid way less for it. and it looks like new, and recently I went to Triumph dealer on a test riding day where they let me take out the bikes by myself. and test road a few different bikes for around fifteen minutes each. the Street triple RS I had tried a couple years earlier, but I wanted to try the new model. I liked it very much. but wish it had a full fairing. but I test road the Speed Twin 1200 for the second time. the first time was a couple years ago. and it seemed like a really nice bike back then. I liked the torque and sound of the big twin engine. but when I tried it recently in 2023 after riding my 939 for a couple of months. the bike felt like a piece of crap in comparison. the 939 engine is better, the handling is night and day better. and in my opinion the looks aren't even close. the Ducati is just in another league in my opinion. but the Street Triple RS I could own for a second bike. I really like it. I am the same as you as far as wanting to own a few bikes. right now I have the 939 and an old 250 Ninja and an old 175 enduro and a scooter. I want to keep the 939 forever, and sell the other bikes. and if I can get a house with a garage I want to get another nice bike or two. I would like to get a really nice enduro. and maybe a Street Triple RS. but there are few bikes I would keep my eyes out for on the second hand market. if I had the money to go crazy I would be the Jay Leno of bike owners. but in the real world I would be happy to have around five bikes. but the reality is I don't ride often enough for that to make sense. but when you get to my age everything doesn't need to make sense anymore. you only live once.

5th gen VFR800 was my dream bike back in the day...couldn't afford it back then of course. earlier this year I bought one in excellent condition for about 3500$. It really is a great machine. totally analog, good useable power, fun in the twisties and it looks just as good as I remember. I don't do hooligan stuff on it though. trying to keep it nice for as long as possible. might even retire it to the living room one day...if I can stop riding it

I bought a new 1979 CBX and stupidly sold it after getting married. It was not particularly fast and doesn’t handle that well. 127 mph was all I could get out of it but it was super smooth and the width of that engine was so cool. With stock exhaust it was very quiet and super smooth. A fantastic piece of engineering but performance was nothing compared to modern sport motorcycles. It always got noticed but was a slug compared to the CBR929 I later owned. Sure wish I’d kept the CBR though.

Regarding wanting to ride a CBX and NR750 Hondas; many CBXs went unsold after the CB900F was introduced because it was quicker, lighter, and better handling. The NR750, while a unique bike, is just too radical to consider owning due to the maintenance schedule and parts availability. Yeah, I realize Ynoob just wants to ride these bikes and I am sure he will enjoy the experience.

Turbo a Gen 2 1340cc Hayabusa or get a Gen 3 with a TTS Supercharger kit. You could also supercharge the B-King with a TTS Supercharger kit. Gen 3 would be most reliable I'd say, and can produce 300-400hp

i love my bking, but it only shares the wheels, engine, and ecu from the gen2 busa. the forks are interchangeable, but the bking is sprung softer, and has a longer wheelbase.. the bking is heavier, makes less power thanks to no ram air, a smaller airbox, and handles a little lazier.

I had a 1985 purple VMAX with Kerker 4 into 2 pipes. And a stage 1 upgrade. The most beautiful sound. Like a 1964 Corvette Stingray with external side pipes. I could not get 1,500 miles on a rear tire. Trader her for a Ducati 900 CR. With no electronic aids she handled like we were one. Miss them both.

The way you describe your bikes, there is probably your DNA up in the pipes .😂
