Hello everyone and welcome back to another animatic!!! This one is a song from the beetlejuice musical. It's taken me since October of 2019 til now to finish it but it was all worth it. I had fun and it was very expressive and neat to put into motion.

For some extra information about these characters: The Claire and Elizabeth in this time line are not the same as in Hellfire. This setting is as well before Caln met Ewan as seen in SweetTooth.

I just love this depiction of Beetlejuice. The more traditional one comes across less like a demon and more like a ghost, looking corpse-y as he does. This one is way more reminiscent of an actual DEMON, who makes deals and tricks people into giving him power over them. And when you spell out his name the right way, Betelgeuse, like the star and mythologically etymologized name it sounds more like an old demon with a "b" name, liike Belial, Beelzebub, Baal or Baphomet.

This Beetlejuice feels like the modern incarnation of the animated Beetlejuice show on Nickelodeon that I watched religiously as a kid, down to the constant shape-shifting. I L O V E him.

He makes it just sound like he needs her help before he can punish her dad. Or at least that’s how I see it. dude this is so amazing, i love how in the first “beetlejuice…” “yeees” “beetlejuice…” “yeeeees” “beeeeeeeeeee.. cause!” every time the character singing lydia’s part says beetlejuice, the background slowly goes more from purple to red, like he’a gaining power, and then when she pulls a 180 on him, it goes straight back to purple. awesome detail.

I must say--I'm a retired film editor and frustrated animator (I can barely draw a stick figure) but I did, at least, do sound editing on one cartoon, the Mickey Mouse featurette THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER--but I've looked at several of these animatics on this song, and yours is the most creative and TRULY using the animated art form to enhance and propel the story. You use great poses, and WONDERFUL transitions and gags that really add enormously to the song and the whole spirit of the scene. You should really be hired by somebody!!! I hope and pray Disney and others will return to 2D hand-drawn animation and God, you're good!!

I watched it over and over and over again and I learned all the lyrics to the song and got my friend obsessed with the song and then we discovered it was from a musical.
