Oh so that’s why everytime bj mentions killing his dad, Lydia freaks out 😭
@CGWolfGaming3 жыл бұрын
I already loved this song a lot, but after seeing the movie the musical is based off of, it got even better because of the context! Beetlejuice is a demon but he can't do anything in the living world because of some afterlife rules, unless he's basically summoned by having his name said three times in a row (which he's not allowed to say himself). He let it slip that "any ghost" can do the possession thing that he did. Those other two characters that came in are actually ghosts that used to live in Lydia's house and they are more friendly than Beetlejuice, so Lydia sided with them for a plan against her dad to get the family out of their house and Beetlejuice realized he was being rejected. Beetlejuice got scared there because he just screwed up the only opportunity he's had in a long time.

I love love love this song! There's another animatic that uses Beetlejuice and Lydia but this one is equally good (I'm still surprised the artist decided to call it an animatic when there are so many moments where it's almost completely animated 🤩). Glad you enjoyed it, it's definitely a banger!
@theshadowman40153 жыл бұрын
Because that's what an animatic is, actually! 😚 It's a rough animation, but from what I've heard, animatic is kinda misused for what's actually considered storyboards.
@47ratsinahoodie3 жыл бұрын
@@theshadowman4015 Animatics are storyboards with sound (typically) and slightly more articulated movements to better get across the movement and timing in a storyboard. However, with the smoothness of some of the moments in this animatic, I do think it could qualify as at least a KZbin animation (where you have some actually animated scenes and some that are more like an animatic). I've seen people call much less movement an animation so it surprised me that with so much animation, they still elected to deem it an animatic.

I loved this animatic when i first found it. There is another one that other people mostly react to that i find less fun to watch, so I'm happy this is the one you watched. Not to mention the voices of Lydia and BG are amazing. To answer your question about Betelgeuse being scared of Lydia; so despite him calling himself a demon Betelgeuse is actually just a ghost that's been around so long that he has so much experience haunting the living, and in some cases killing the living, he is considered a demon. Due to this there was a curse placed on him that he can not effect anything in the living world unless someone says his name three times uninterrupted, but he can't directly tell what his name is. That's why he was afraid after putting in so much work in talking to, possibly, the only living person that can see him, into not jumping to say his name only to basically say, "Any ghost can possess another person. It's the most basic ghost ability." And Lydia realizes that. So he basically screwed himself out of his only chance back to the living world and Lydia knew that.

the reason Beetlejuice were ''Scared'' of her in the end of his part of the song, is cause YES.. He is an Demon, But He can't do anything in the land of the living if someone doesn't say his name 3 times, and when Lydia state ''But Beetlejuice what do I need you for?'' after he accidently tells her about Possession, He gets scared and Nervous, Because he is worried she won't make the deal with him. That is the reason he were ''Scared'' of Lydia.

But anyway shes looking for her mom and its hopeless and her dad shows up and they have the big heart to heart and she finishes the song and goes home to wreck BJ's whole existence. Also "Fright of Their Lives" sung by BJ, Adam, and Barbara is just hilarious.

Ohhhh boy! Love this song and the musical as a whole! Beetlejuice is a really fun character to imitate, especially with that voice. That simultaneous “what” from both David and Lydia is one of those things you just can’t plan. Fun fact: my high school theatre teacher actually spent a fews years professionally playing Beetlejuice at a Universal theme park! Wow. It’s been a while since I’ve had something interesting to comment, huh? Well, it’s that time again! Day 147? Of As always I continue to advocate for “Pity The Child 2” from *Chess* and/or any song from *Great Comet of 1812* . Have a wonderful day, and I regret my inability to make a good “Whole Being Dead Thing” reference.

Loved the Beetlejuice musical and this song is absolutely stealing the show. It's such a bop and I loved seeing you react to it and how you found it funny everytime Lydia teased Beetlejuice. It's not that he is scared of her - Lydia is just the only person who can see him and knows about his existence, so he's desperate for her to give his demonic antics a shot. This is late but, to explain the plot a bit for the people who want to know. Beetlejuice isn’t afraid of Lydia at the end, he needs her to say his name so he can be visible as a demon and so he won’t be alone in life, to interact with the living and he is desperate because she is the only alive person who can see him. When he’s pinned down, it’s just showing that Lydia gets the upper hand because she figures out that she doesn’t NEED beetlejuice to get her father out of the house. Beetlejuice needs Lydia and tries to convince her that she also needs him, and she considers his offer a little but doesn’t want strings attached, then she realizes that the mainlands (the dead couple) could easily help her. Before that song he sang about how he was alone and invisible because Adam and Barbra mainland wouldn’t help him get a living person to say his name, and how he’s been alone for his whole existence. The mainlands are being possessed in the song and beetlejuice makes them say great things about him, even though they think he is a dangerous and unstable weirdo. In this song he is skipping a step and going straight to manipulating Lydia when he finds out that she can see him (because she’s strange and unusual and the reason people don’t see ghosts is because they usually ignore the strange and unusual, but this doesn’t apply to beetlejuice because he’s a demon as well as dead, hence the name rule, no leaving the house, not being allowed to lie, among other things), he also wants a friend, and he thinks it’s a win win if he scares her father, Lydia gets freedom to grieve for her mother alone without her father wanting her to brush it off and be happy, while he finally gets to be free from his curses and he with a friend who understands him. Anyways thanks for listening to my Tedtalk, go watch the musical, it’s fantastic and as a writer I think it made in depth characters
