Yangwang U9 | The bunnyhopping 1288bhp coupe

This is the 1288bhp electric supercar that can bunnyhop and drive on three wheels - the Yangwang U9.
Yangwang is the luxury arm of Chinese manufacturing giant BYD, and the U9 is one of its first production cars.
Straight from the off, it has a lot riding on its shoulders. With competition as fierce as the McLaren Artura, Lamborghini Revuelto, Aston Martin DB12 and Ferrari SF90, the U9 has so much to prove if it’s to make a success of itself in the UK.
Its performance will likely be key to that success. 62mph is dispatched in 2.36sec and it will go on to a top speed of 192mph. Oh, and over the quarter mile, it’s about as fast as a Bugatti Chiron.

It is both inconvenient and unprofitable for car manufacturers now. The person who can afford these types of cars have already put their deposits down before the “big” reveal and don’t really care how they drive..Most new cars are just status symbols that will spend 99% of their time in storage after the first week of ownership. We are living in the dumbest timeline. I noticed most new cars revealed like this are also “ultra exclusive” 500k-2M+ one off based on cheaper supercars instead of true one offs. Like the new Aston Valour and Bentleys.

Doesn’t matter how good it is really, it has no heritage or brand recognition. When you buy a Ferrari you aren’t just buying the car. You are buying in to the glamour of the brand and its incredibly history. It’s not hard to make a fast EV.

More impressive and much sexier imo in the same price range is the gac aion hyper ssr 2dr ev supercar. Also has 3 motors with awd, torque vectoring, 1234hp and it weighs just under 2,000kg with a 75kwh pack. 👍🏻😎 Another impressive little Chinese ev 2dr is the ssc sc01 coupe with 429hp awd dual motors weighs in at 1400kg&starts at 42k! With 503km of cltc range(so 200ish real world miles of range from a 60ish kwh pack.

Being objective: The styling is a bit busy, specifically along the side. The front isn't traditionally beautiful, but interesting and unique in a positive way. The overall mass of the car needs to be cut to really emote a sport-car asthetic. The tech really is something cool and different. For a first time car manufacturer, with no prior pedegree in the field, I'd say it's a solid first attempt. I'm more interested in what the next generation is going to be like.
