Was alive to see the 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 world series but was too young to really appreciate it. I started really getting into baseball in 2001 and when the Yankees lost to the Diamondbacks I was devastated. Then seeing them getting manhandled in 2002 by the Angels, another unexpected and choke job loss in 2003 vs the Marlins, watching the horrible turn of events against the Red Sox in 2004, then the putrid performances of 2005-2008 I was beginning to think I wouldnt see a championship for the Yankees in a really long time. This 2009 season with all of their walk off wins and pie face celebrations made me feel like something special would happen. Then watching Alex Rodriguez finally deliver in the postseason and still seeing all of these comeback games in the postseason all the way to seeing this last out and finally witnessing a world series championship where I watched every single game from spring training all the way through to this made me cry. I was at the parade 2 days later with all of my Yankees brothers and sisters still with a tear in my eyes! Thank you 2009 Yankees!

I still remember standing in my living room with my dad (we're both HUGE Yankees fans) and we both broke into tears when the last out came. It was the first time the Yankees had one a series that I was old enough to pay attention to. I was alive for the 98, 99, and 2000 wins but I was too young to know what was going on. And then seeing them lose to the MARLINS in 2003 was heartbreaking. For that reason, the 2009 Series win is a moment I'll never forget

2001 was on the heels of winning 3 titles and these amazing homers to win games 4 and 5. 2003 had the amazing ALCS so it wasn't;t the worst. 2004 was the worst, but hey Papi and Manny roided so cheating your way passed the curse doesn't count. Still tho, This year means so much.

I feel like it’s pretty cool to have a sports story. Any sport, any story - 2009 was a tough year for in my life as I was trying to come to terms and deal w the fact that my first bf did not love me we were on the rocks. Wasn’t going well for me in my friendships or at school - just a mess. But the 2009 World Series got me through all that. All I did that year was watch baseball - I studied it, I learned from it. I was inspired by this larger than life team that was known all over. The 2009 yankees were my box of tissues that wiped my tears. 27 time world champs. That year was heartbreakingly incredible. ❤️ I love my city, I love my team. ICONIC
