Even more work in the Polar Vortex from February 2021. Today was all about semis and uncleared parking lots covered with snow and ice. Some jobs were easy, while some...not so much. But we still have a good time and treat our customers with respect and have a smile on our face. Please SLOW DOWN & MOVE OVER!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

Another great Ron Pratt video! Many people with no experience don't understand just how easy it is to stick a big truck, especially when empty. 4 out of my 5 tractors have full lockers and they all have open shoulder drive tires. The one that only has a power divider is the first tractor that I bought (used) back in 1999. Full lockers aren't a cheap option and, yes, open shoulder tires do tend to wear a bit faster on O.T.R. tractors but, the extra money spent initially becomes money in the bank if you avoid having to call for a winch out a couple times. As always, be safe and God bless you, your crew and your equipment!

First saw them using a Yankum Rope on "Matt's Off Road Recovery" They are GREAT for a hard yank as they stretch on the initial yank and then kinetic energy adds to the total pull. Just don't let the towed vehicle run over the rope. In fact Matt always tells them to keep tension on the rope to be sure it does not get damaged by being trapped under a tire. Stay safe Ron. Riding season is just around the corner.

The farmers around there must love this moisture before preparing the ground for crops. It may be tiring but this is better than an office job any day. Morning/day pull outs have to be better than midnight pull outs, unless you’ve been up for two or three days straight. Much better to get paid to work out then paying to work out.

Reminds me of the time back in 1965, an airman friend and I pulled 10 stuck cars back on the road in North Carolina. We were driving from Sumter, South Carolina to Goldsboro, NC when it started to snow, (less than 6 inches) I was driving my 1954 Ford and had a piece of parachute harness and a knife to cut the knots after the pull.No chains, just technique.

Just a tip to the new drivers that are watching this video. From a old used up driver. When you’re driving on the interstate, even when 100% snow pack your tires warm up. What gets you stuck in parking lots more times than not is the warm tires melting the snow pack then as you sleep your tires cool down and you get frozen in. To eliminate this BACK Into a parking spot , then don’t go to bed,, after being parked for about 20 minutes pull forward about 6 feet. Set for another 20 minutes. Then back up about 3 feet. Then set for another 20 minutes and back up the remaining 3 feet. This allows your tires to cool down. Set breaks on TRACTOR ONLY and go to bed. You won’t melt down into the snow and re freeze while you sleep resulting in you being frozen in in the morning. Just a word of advice for those willing to accept. Sorry Ron if this loses you business but keeping freight moving and appointment times met is the name of our game. On a side note. Ron Pratt is one of the best tow truck operators I’ve ever seen in my 25 years of trucking.

When the peepers arrive, 3 weeks or so, that will be my Spring. Sir, I just finished a round of convoys. Out of 300 trucks and trailers, only 3 had your horn sound. They were shiny, new ---beautiful. What bothered me, was an oil leak line from them. You see a clean curve from the parking lot turn black, eventually. Thanks again for your program. I truly am sorry about your storms. I have in-laws near Omaha, NE. Same weather as you. Winter 1970-71, I drove in this type weather in Fremont. First and last storm. Turned into a hermit. Sending a grandma's hug. Judy.
