It is amazing to see how fluent you are with everything. Whether it's uncovering things growing or going well, not so well, different techniques to use with different tools. Just fantastic. Cheers! p.s. Hope all is going well with your move, work and writing. I do hope you get back in this space because you are invaluable.

Thanks so much. I’m not a natural on camera but I do enjoy sharing what we do. Still not found our next home yet but hope to find one soon. Book is out in September and work is crazily busy which is great but exhausting 😁

@@thoseplantpeople530 You're a natural teacher. It's more than just sharing that you're doing......and you're on camera! All the content that you put out and all the stuff yis are doing to justify that is really rich and varied. I don't understand why it's not getting more views on YT. Maybe you need to rethink the titles you give the videos, so that search engines will pick them up more readily. Good luck with house-hunting, must be painful leaving that place. Hope yis find plenty of sunshine. Interested to hear about the book. Take it easy!

Ooof sounds like you had quite the winter! How fascinating that a plant can die effectively of drought because the ground is frozen! You inspired us to get some Taunton Deane last year, and I'm delighted with how it is now romping away (here in the mild south east).

The growth rings were also fascinating. I hadn't realised they grew that large that quickly!

Yes we think cavitation had something to do with it, if the ground hadn’t been frozen I think it would have made it, where other plants were nearer to the house or in sheltered spots they came through unscathed. Good job it wasn’t smellovision, it got quite ripe after the thaw.

That's a shame loosing your nice Kale, one of the side shots on my Taunton Deane had flowers on this year but I soon took it out, I understand they wont produce seed anyway ? Good to see the garden again, look forward to the next one, Thanks for the video.

Thanks Graham, in our experience Taunton Deane rarely flowers but when it does it does set viable seed as shown in the VLOG2. Brassicas are very promiscuous and out breeders so our seedlings may be hybrids. We are trialling our seedlings from last year which survived our hard winter completely frozen in their pots for several weeks. No signs of them settling flower this year so hopefully not biennial and instead strongly perennial like the parent plant.

We never take the flowers off our perennial kales, mainly because there are very few, and it has no observable detrimental effects although I understand your caution.
