You were talking about procrastinating. It triggered something in me. There is one shelf in my bathroom that I keep putting off. Well when you found the tote of random stuff I immediately paused the video and took care of it. It only took me about 5 minutes to straighten it up. After I got done I came back and finished the video. Thank you for that little push. That is exactly what I needed.

Yeah, 🙌 to all those Yard Sale Bins finally leaving the house (I counted probably nearly thirty). This will finally free up that whole corner. Mrs Heart, just remember to try and make sure that when you have finished doing the yard sale that no bins or left over stuff comes back down to the basement. Ensure you complete the task by giving any left over items away free or taking them straight to goodwill. I just want to add that you are not letting anyone down, so don’t allow yourself to have that negative self talk, because it isn’t true. In fact we are all so immensely proud of you and how much you have achieved, especially as I think most of us have seen the real mindset change in you, that tells us all you really want to achieve your goals and are more determined than ever. You’ll get your cleaned out basement - We believe in you!!! Btw whenever I start to feel like I’m procrastinating too much, I make a point of repeating the following mantra over and over in my morning meditation time: “Procrastination is the thief of joy” It helps me focus on the fact that by not getting things done or completed, I am actually stealing joy from myself. Therefore, my mindset changes and I see getting on with the tasks I put off, as being part of my own self-care and a way to re-open my heart to that joy.

Great video! You achieved a huge amount of boxes for your yard sale. Please, please, I pray that you give yourself grace, put yourself (& your family) & your achievements first when your yard sale draws to a close. You've made so many positive decisions. You've motivated so many people in the process....so PLEASE... don't allow the stuff that doesn't sell back into your house. Please take it to your local donations centre & allow them to continue your charitable fundraising efforts with the items. Allow yourself the space to breathe in your home & your basement. With the progress you've been making lately I'm sure that you will have plenty more items for another yard sale without saving anything from this one. Yard sales aren't really a thing in the UK. We tend to have car boot sales. I used to bring unsold items back home...but now I detour via whichever charity shop is accepting donations & means something to me on my way home & I donate all unsold items. I'm trying to beat hoarding too...& this is a great way to feel positive & avoid putting any more mental & physical energy into dealing with items than is absolutely necessary xx
@lubi7035Ай бұрын
I think, you probably need a good organization of your trash and recycling in designated area. Containers for each thing. You will be more motivated to put it in the recycling and trash right away. And definitely use trash pick up calendar to be motivated to prepare for that day... consolidate it to have clean slate then. The trash and recycling stuff should leave the house asap.

I recommend labeling your bags or boxes: trash, recycling, donate, yard sale, relocate. That way you can clearly & easily identify bags or boxes if you have to step away & come back. It'll also help with the churned stuff. Also as a time-saver, if possible, get the trash & recycling out of your house as soon as possible. You're doing great. Keep it up. You got this. May the weather hold up for you. Might I suggest scheduling a charity (VA, Salvation Army, etc) pickup at your house for the stuff that doesn't sell??

You've said that laying out the tossy pile helps you process emotions (which makes sense given how visual you are), but you've also acknowledged that you struggle with completing the task of physically disposing of everything. Have you thought about using clear recycling-style trash bags to sort directly into? You'd still be able to get that last look at the tossy pile but then things would be all set to go upstairs & go away.

I was wondering if you could try an experiment. Have your garage sale and everything that is left over you donate or throw away. Then you stack up the empty yard sale bins and don’t refill them for six months. Anything you part with in the next six months, you donate. So the yard sale part of the basement would stay clear. And then at the end of the six months you can reassess how you feel. I love your videos and Miss Pepper.
@Katy_living_simplyАй бұрын
If you transferred from now on all the stuff from the yardsale to a carboard box. It will be easier to let the things go and donate them. Box and all. Without having to take the extra step of changing them from the totes. And when you declutter again. Youll know exactly which boxes are yardsale. You can have a corner for that stuff. Personally id put it right by the stairs so i can see it daily and make progress on it. Easy to take out too instead of snaking through the basement.😊

This really needs to be the last video where you have any yard sale bins in the basement. It also needs to be the last yard sale you have until your house is in order at this point. The only thing yard sales are doing for YOU is slowing down your progress and/ or churning the hoard. It's quite counter productive at this point. I would recommend that any unsold yard sale items this time from this last yard sale goes straight into car and straight to the charitable donation center in your area (Value Village/ Goodwill/ Salvation Army thrift store etc) and immediately dropped off. Instead of yard sales, any item you want to give away that's in "sellable" condition needs to be delivered straight to your local donation centre, by passing delaying the decluttering process "by having a yard sale", which really only amounts to "hold onto the hoard just a little longer" and delayed follow through on decision. Your tossy tossy pile can be divided into "trash/ recycle/ donate" and then simply show us the final home for the tossy tossy before the end of the video to show that follow up on the hard effort of decisions you've already made. You got this! We believe in you! 💜
@amara560Ай бұрын
If having a yard sale helps MsHeart to let go, I think we should encourage that. Hopefully there will be a day it won't be necessary, because there won't be enough stuff to declutter to even constitute a yard sale, but until that day I think there are worse coping strategies.
