@@davidmeredith2695 It wasn't a van in front of you, it was a car. Before you sped up to block the undertaking car, you did not appear to be catching the vehicle in front at all. Be more considerate of those behind and this sort of thing won't happen.

Wrong, looks like they were moving faster than left lanes, it doesn't matter how fast you overtake, as long as you do you are fine to use right lane.

Your are not there to enforce the speed limit. You were very far behind the van and were not yet in position to overtake the van, the lane the van was in was clear judging by the distance the other car behind it, so you should have already been back left one lane to maintain lane discipline.

Rule 268 of the Highway Code states - do not overtake on the left or move to a lane on your left to overtake. In congested conditions, where adjacent lanes of traffic are moving at similar speeds, traffic in left-hand lanes may sometimes be moving faster than traffic to the right. In these conditions you may keep up with the traffic in your lane even if this means passing traffic in the lane to your right. Do not weave in and out of lanes to overtake.

Nope. He changed lane safely. There was more than enough space in front of you. You clearly sped up when you realized he was planning on overtaking you, then slowed down again after closing the gap. You were in the fast lane, not overtaking anyone. You are the knob on so many levels. Just because he drives a smaller car, doesn't mean he is not allowed to overtake or drive faster than you. He is clearly a better driver than you.

There is no definition in traffic laws that says you have to overtake at a certain rate, just that you should be moving past the lane you're overtaking. You lose all credibility saying that doing 72mph isn't fast enough in a country where 70mph is the speed limit.

You probably should have moved over however undertaking is the more serious of the two issues here. Frustrating that people think it's ok to undertake and break the speed limit all in the one.

I think the worse is when people are in the overtaking lane just cruising. If someone wants or needs to drive faster than the speed limit, with reasonable tolerance this is a highway after all, you should not block them, and this wouldnt happen if people used the correct lane in the first place, maybe the yaris would have been at a reasonable speed since clearly he was trying to reach the outer lane before reaching the van.
