I would love to see a debate between Yaron and Chamath Palihapitiya. Both are in the finance industry.

The prices of houses in Hong Kong are high with zoning. However, the prices in Singapore, 80% controlled by government, is a lot lower. Does this mean that housing should be controlled by the government?

If a government wants to control prices, it can and will. But there are consequences. If the price of a good is artificially lowered, the supply will not be able to keep up with demand and there will be shortages. Just think about it. If the price of X is cut in half, how many people are going to want to produce X? Not many.

Don't do zoning laws or government control and prices will be even lower is my guess.
