That motivation is actually one of the reasons why I hate HxH so much. Dude's like " my dad left, but I totally wanna be him", then basically kills himself with ex machina powers over the death of someone that sorta knew his dad and that he spent 2 minutes talking to and then magical wish bitch comes out of nowhere, full restores and destroys the friendship blossoming for however many fucking episodes that shit show was, cause Killua is just like "nah, she's my sis, so fuck off Gon, see you never :)" I must've actually completely stopped at that point, because I never realized there's a moment where he meets Ging in the anime. The last episode I had in mind was Gon just going some place after Killua fucks off.

@QUANTUM GAMING Well, he is not and he is pretty famous for being a bad father. But in my eyes, yassop takes the worst title. Just look at what both ging and yassop did for their sons. First, lets talk about ging. (1)He made sure that gon will be in proper care so that he can grow up properly. For that reason, he left gon to his mother and cousin. Seriously, gon had one of the best family and childhood in the entire hunter x hunter series because of that decision ging made. (2) According to bisky, the greed island game was designed just to train gon. (3) Ging never came face to face with gon. But he always kept an eye on his son. When gon was a child (2-4 years old), kite saved gon from a bear in whale island, No one knew about that. At that time kite was on the same mission, finding ging. As ging's student that was kite's final mission. So, kite went to whale island to search for few clues and saved gon without realizing who that child was. Few years later when kite finally found ging, Ging thanked kite for saving his son. It proves that ging visited gon time to time or at least kept an eye on his son in a different way. (4) Ging left clues everywhere for gon so that gon can find him. (5) Ging didn't visit gon in the final arc when gon was in deathbed. But if ging were to visit gon then it would make gon's entire journey meaningless. Think about it. It's hard to find laugh tale and one piece. So, rayleigh just told where the laught tale is and how to get there so that lufffy doesn't have to bother with finding the poneglyphs. It will still make luffy the pirate king. But it will make luffy's journey meaningless. It's the same with ging. It was gon's mission to visit ging. But instead if ging visit gon then the whole journey is pointless. Or a more relatable example, do you know remember that shank refused to see luffy in marineford? Why? Because luffy didn't complete his journey to meet shank. Luffy still wasn't a great pirate. So, even though luffy was in near death conditon like gon, shank refused to see luffy just like ging refused to see gon. Now, lets talk about what yassop did for his son. (1)Nothing. (2) Nothing. (3) Nothing. (4) It didn't seem like yassop even tried to keep an eye on his son. He probably loves his son. But he never did anything for his. Ussop was an orphan and lived without a family. At least ging made sure that gon has a family. Now in the yonko saga, we can see just how much power and influence the yonko crews have. Even if it's not personally, yassop could keep an eye on ussop in other ways. I am sure he could do it if he wanted to. But he never really cared for his son's well being. on the other hand, ging always made sure gon's growth without being directly involved. Now, you decide who is the worst father?

Wild theory: Ging is not a bad dad, he is just a bad person. He cares enough about people to do stuff, but he did not show many feelings towards Gon, just like he did not seem to care too much about Kites passing. He is overly realistic when it comes to death and being a hunter in general.

I heard somewhere that Ging may be based on Togashi himself and that would make sense. I read one day an interview with Togashi's wife (don't remember where though) about how Togashi treated their wedding at the start. He basically said to her that there will be no ceremony, no kids, no living together, they can work on their own jobs without bothering the other and they are free to cheat on each other. She was so pissed she decided to call off the wedding which made Togashi change his mind and beg her to marry him. Just WOW. I don't know if that was fully legit, but that would explain A LOT about Ging.

Yasopp's absence is more justified because he’s part of a Yonko’s pirate crew and the World Government have been known to target the families and/or lovers of famous pirates. (ie Gol D Rodger, Portgas D Rouge and Ace). While Ging on the other hand is a highly respected, famous Hunter and doesn’t have a real reason not to be with his son.

Endeavor and yassop are not as bad as the others. Endeavor is actively trying to make amends and even gives up living with them as he can't fix it. Yassop is basically better than gin in that regard as he told Luffy about ussop. Would also add "chivary of a failed knight" that dad is a horrible human being and a coward who can't face his son until he is exhausted bruised and broken and even then can't accept him while the girl he is dating her father will take care of him after school so nobody can touch him anymore. He is a horrible person. Also you forgot judge

@Gucci Guwop compared to some of the others like judge who made all his kids into machines that actively ended his wife's life as she took drugs to prevent the modifications from happening endeavor is much better. Endeavor is actively trying to make amends and even knows he can't so he buys them a new house and lives alone but he is actually trying with shoto and even his kids wanted to forgive him but endeavor stopped it to be alone. Also dabi is not blameless he is trash just as young endeavor was. If I was dabi why would I cause my mother who did wrong more pain showing what I've become. Dabi is not good in any way for doing that and if she ends her life that's just as much dabi as endeavors fault. But yeah I'm siding with endeavor on this angle as dabi probably sent his mother to an early grave with his stupid actions and shoto will need to put to stop to him as well

Judge doesn't even try. Also funny enough dragon is kinda a good dad as he wants to see Luffy one day compared to gin who sent assasins after him in a dangerous game. Fate zero tokioimi I wouldn't put as bad as he did raise Rin more so middle Goku probably a horrible father in all accounts as he isn't that good compared to piccolo who is a child.

I see Ussop having to duel Yassop at Elbaf, probably as part of a Davy Back fight beetween the Strawhats and the Red Hair Crew.
