Resin for kids is insane. The aquarium my partner works at tried to introduce a resin craft to their birthday parties, to which I said "that is a terrible idea, it will not end well" because it is true that resin is safe IF you follow the safety instructions- which will tell you that you need a respirator and "well ventilated area" by which they mean a dedicated space with a robust ventilation system, not just opening a window. Obviously they never intended to sink thousands of dollars into protective gear and a new ventilation system. It didn't last long. A kid got resin in their eyes and that's when everyone learned that the procedure for that is flushing your eyes with water for 15 minutes. I predicted this, and every day that aquarium doesn't hire me as a director of children's programming is a mistake 😂

I really feel like Mattel only really brought My Scene just to say "There we brought back My Scene so stop asking for it", because the lack of personality in the boxes is such a huge teller for me that they don't really care about it. Not even updated artwork, a huge waste. A huge shame because I was really hoping into getting into My Scene. On another note, I'm so against the Dream Besties, but their Ken doll is actually really cute for some reason. Idk I just want more boy dolls that aren't so aggressively masculine for playline dolls.

They're quite round, but not enough to have a highly stylized appearance the way Rainbow High did, and the girls all have a sort of Cabbage Patch thing going on with the facial proportions.

It's trying to appeal the big-headed dolls that are popular rn and while I like dolls like that, it didn't translate well in the Besties line except Ken imo. I will get Brooklyn, Barbie, and Ken since I'd love to design clothes for them but anything else I'm not interested.

Are you glad that it's not actual crochet because it's notoriously hard to mass produce in an ethical way? I hang around slow fashion spaces and I heard this a lot when there was a lot of granny square looks at fast fashion places (ie: target) a few years back. I'm with you if that's the case. Mattel gets a lot of flack for cutting corners, but I feel they do so at the trade off for, I dunno, paying their employees fairly, hopefully.

Trust me, those resin craft Rainbow High dolls are getting recalled if I ever see them anywhere. I'm a crafter / miniature artis who works with resin (mostly UV- resin because it's safer and faster, and yes, I have a respirator but I'm also much, much older and over my reproductive age and don't have any males - who can't ever be - near me *waves an ace flag* so I simply don't care if I get a few burns when I mess up with my gloves). I'm fine with the craft balls because the resin is the main gimmick and it's basically one the parents to know what they buy to their kids - they are also labelled over the age of 8-yrs. They should come with a UV lamp tho. But the dolls, parents will buy them to a three year old and let them make a mess with everything inside and then go ham at the nurses in the ER when his skin is peeling off and he is sh*tting blood. Sorry to be grass and I'm preaching to the choir here, but hopefully a parent or a doll designer also sees this.

The original line of My Scene dolls came with literally a tube top and a mini skirt as the second "outfit". Mattel couldn't even include two bitty scraps of fabric, just to maintain the "two outfit minimum" standard of the originals. It's just unacceptable and ridiculous. Nothing they have ever done, up until this point, has disappointed me like this My Scene collector line.

Okay, what I'm considering getting: I saw Daisy and knew I had to have her. She's my favorite non-barbie barbie character. I don't love her dress but I'm willing to overlook that for Daisy. New video, yay! Dolls - I had not realized that the RH dolls were resin-crafting. Ikes. Will still probably try to get the new girl, Bella, and Skyler, since I have plenty of outfits I can replace the plastic with. Monster High - got the Witch Weaver collector - gorgeous! The whole package sparkles! You can't see it in the photos, but it's sooo pretty under lights! Love the doll, had no idea who Harris Reed was prior to this, but he seems really cool! Can't wait to find Jin in stores, because I really like her as well. The scooter and Drac.... Much as I like the scooter, I don't need another doll vehicle. Most dolls that come with vehicles I get on clearance, and donate the vehicle. The exceptions are Braeburn the dragon for Apple White and Ghoulia's scooter from G1. Scooter!Ghoulia is one of my favorite versions of her. The Dream Besties.... Not sure how I feel about them. Ken has the "boy doll side shave" going on, which got old years ago. They're oddly sized dolls. One thing I did realize the other day: RH dolls and Descendants Rise of Red dolls can swap outfits. They don't match up exactly, but I could fit Red's Sorcerer's Cookbook outfit (minus the shorts) onto Ruby Anderson, and Ruby's outfit fits Red really well. In case anyone wants to use Ruby and Robin and Bella to make customs of Red, Chloe, and Bridget.

Hi, as a OG My Scene doll collector I was so excited anticipating this new release…until they came out 🙁. I was hoping Mattel would do a true reproduction just as MGA did with the Bratz, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Not to say the dolls are bad or ugly, but they aren’t what I was hoping for. And like you said, My Scene was famous for having 2nd outfits and accessories and they couldn’t even do that, and this just adds more insult to injury. Anyway, I don’t know if I’ll buy them or not. Myscene would have been a hit if they just released a reproduction line!!! That's all we wanted! 😭 The new my scene dolls don't have the same vibe as the original ones.

Personally I like the resin kits, but they are FOR SURE not for kids. It's something you need gloves and goggles for, in a large well-ventilated space even with small measures, and cleanup isn't just soap and water. Happy to snipe these dolls for the cute molds though. Gimme.

The resin is such a bad idea. Air dry clay would’ve been better. And honestly, as an adult buying these for myself I’ll probably use that instead.

Hey, glad you liked Wicked. I absolutely loved it. I've seen it twice and it gets better every time. Not sure what all the hate is about but I found it to be an engaging and delightful musical and I normally don't like musicals all that much. I have always sympathized with the Wicked Witch character and Cynthia Erivo was perfect in the role. I was also really impressed with Ariana Grande as well. I can't wait for part 2 and I am going to be listening to the Wicked audiobook by Gregory Maguire soon. This is the book that started it all. I even got the Wicked Witch doll lol. Happy Holidays!

The Dream Bestie Ken got an outfit with sleeves and full pants! That's a big leap for Mattel(the bar is in hell, I know)! I also completely agree with you on Odile. Barbie needs an entire wardrobe overhaul. I'm sad about the direction Rainbow High is taking. I think they just released too many things at once and just needed to pace themselves better. now everything new they release is a pass. I like this celebrity Bratz doll, but I would prefer that they do fun styled Bratz dolls that aren't associated with real people. I wish Jina Fire's body was all one color. She looks kinda Frankensteined instead. Or if they could have incorporated the two colors together better.
