Bro, definitely u should make a tutorial on how to make that, rocky messy vintage look!! Decrease the size of the frame, and zoom into that, trying to equilze ?
@tomdchi122 жыл бұрын
I was around for those early 80s days of crazy music videos (watching, not shooting) so I'd say combine #2 and #1 - talent wants to wear a different jacket in the close-up vs. the wide? Lean into it and change up the entire outfit! Light the wide with green and yellow, and the close with magenta and blue. Just because you're in one location doesn't mean some trippy alternate reality stuff didn't happen between the shots. It's a music video. Lean all the way into some crazy style changes. Also, that fire shot at 4:02 is... well... fire.

Love the vintage aspect. I did that a long time ago. I do it on tons of album/song covers I do when the artist sends me cell phone pics to use lol. Such a useful way to turn low res into dope project.

While I agree with you re: continuity, I don’t know that your examples are really indicative of what you’re saying. Hood up in a close shot but down in a medium comes off as a stylistic choice IMO, not necessarily a continuity error. And really, if the video is more performance based than narrative, then those small gaffes aren’t too much of a big deal. Just my thoughts. Great video as always. Thanks for sharing. ✊🏾
@xaviermichel94522 жыл бұрын
When you’re shooting for a different perspective of the same scene, making sure everything is the same is important. The viewer shouldn’t know that it was recorded x amount of times. Continuity is very important in film making. He explained it perfectly
@JayFingers2 жыл бұрын
@@xaviermichel9452 In a narrative film or video, sure. In a music video, especially one that’s performance based, not so much. Viewers aren’t idiots. Unless it looks like a oner, viewers know that several takes are required. This is a medium in which a lack of continuity can be forgiven as it can be seen as (like I said before) a stylistic choice. Look at classic videos by Hype Williams, Francis Lawrence, and Paul Hunter and tell me their “continuity errors” detracted from viewers’ enjoyment and appreciation of them.

I do have to say there has been more mental contemplation for my video projects and with that being said, maybe I over think that I have space for areas where the idea doesn't quite come together the way that I've envisioned but I have space to mold a fairly decent idea but great points! I think the first 2 points is something that I took notice in review and always mindful of going forward. I'm not sure if the real excitement is actually coming up with the idea, shooting it or getting back to editing!!!!
