Notice they didn't have any footage of her playing, she rarely sees the court and that's really a shame. I have never seen this much interest in a draft class. If the WNBA knew they were doing, they would make sure that each one of these rookies received a little bit of playing time, every game.

The culture in Seattle seems like a great fit for Nika but they have so much talent that she’s not getting any real playing time. Chicago could really use a point guard but I’m not sure if the culture would be as good a fit. That’s the bad part about going to a really good team as a rookie, though the Aces do seem to be working in a good amount of playing time for Kate Martin.
@donovan7102

I feel you don't get it's a good thing she didn't have to carry the load for a team as a rookie. She is a 2nd rd pick on a loaded Seattle team. Unlike Chicago and LA who needed their rookies to start and have significant mins. So she just gets to study the game before she has to play significant mins

chicago has a great point guard in Chennedy. Seattle is pretty stacked in the guard position but she could get playing time there still. It's called depth. That will be useful when the playoffs begin. Nika has an amazing opportunity to develop. She has a team willing to invest in that development. That's rare.
@donovan7102
@donovan7102 3 ай бұрын
@@shonduhsings The main thing that makes it hard for her to get mins is Seattle goes 9 deep without her and most teams rotation only need to about 9 people deep. So her and Kiana sadly get the garbage time or no time at all.

@@donovan7102 I agree with your insight as well as your comment above. It is a blessing in disguise really. She gets to develop and build on her game without the pressure that other rookies have. See that doesn't really work for a couple reasons. Nika is still just getting started so she is not gonna play 10-15 mins right away because that's not what Seattle needs her to do. Also Horston and Vivians along side Sami jump in at the 1-3 spots so Nika doesn't get back up mins either. Until she proves that she can handle their responsibilities she will get no more than 5-7 mins

Nika is still marketable and the fact that Bird is now in a management position helps. It's tough for any player in the W or even the NBA that is the 10th and higher player on the bench to stick. You do not improve without playing and they are basically practice players. Hard to prove yourself in practice when they are basically walk thrus. Also for Nika, Seattle has Diggins and Loyd arguably the best backcourt in the W. She was given a 4 year contract but again her market ceiling is still high. Without her playing that will eventually wear off. I think they will move on from Nika by middle of next season if not sooner. She be better off in Europe.

@@Brolic123 I don't know Seattle's views on this, but Nika needs to play sometime soon, just to merge with the team. She won't be of much use to them if they don't let her get used to that role and the other players to her style. If they can't or won't do that, then she would be better to trade elsewhere after the season. But right now, staying with a team that could win the championship might be a great highlight to whatever comes next for her.

@@nhart5132 the reason she is the all time assist leader? she played with a bunch of wnba first round picks. the reason she is still on a team? Geno and Sue Bird. That's it. There are better players signed and waived every day. Seattle traded Jade Melbourne (who is better). The people mad at the Bronny nepotism should be mad about the Nika nepotism.

Caitlin Clark IS Rookie Of The Year. Pure dominance and talent. Humble and professional. She's got me watching what I have never watched. BETTER WAKE UP WNBA. Opportunity is pounding on your door and you are allowing thuggery to be a part of the game and suppressing REAL TALENT. I can stop watching just as quickly as I started the WNBA. Assault does not have a home here.
