One special detail of EQ that I love is the original soundtrack. Till this day I hear it every once in a while, and it does bring me home. Can't wait for Maestro Jay Barbeau's interview. (/hail & /salute)

Jenn Chan is so charming! In fact, everyone you spoke to simply radiated passion for the franchise. That's such a rarity these days and so very heartwarming. You're a great and personable interviewer, Fading. It's no wonder they are so open to working with you. I'm thrilled about the upcoming events. I cannot travel due to an elderly parent that needs care, but the virtual Fippyfest sounds perfect for me. I'll be looking forward to those tickets going live at the end of the month.

I think they have what they need for the next EQ already. They don't need to change the world. People like what EQ is around PoP and before. New graphics, better combat, revamped quest system, and updated UI and I'm all the way in.

The first thing that needs to happen for any EQ successor is to bring in a bunch of people who care about quality--not the current crew. The current staff has a habit of releasing buggy stuff that annoys existing players, turns off any new and returning players, and--worst of all--leads to game destroying exploits. Operationally, Darkpaw/DBG tolerates an unacceptable amount of cheating that will be the death of any new offering. A case can be made that they're complicit, as there's little doubt they know about most of the game's current problems and ignore them as long as the revenue keeps coming in. Even without cheating, a buggy product can be expected to fail. You only get one opportunity to make a first impression. Daybreak need not look far to find an excellent example: Last I heard, they own Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, which never really recovered from a rocky launch. For the record, even in an excellent product, having every dialog serve as a billboard for the pay-to-win store isn't exactly appealing either.

I had no plans to go to GenCon, but after the semi-disappointment that there wasn't going to be a Fan Faire this year, I'm considering it. It would be amazing if we could figure out how to get a mini-one going.

Love seeing the behind the scenes, thanks! What I will never understand is how there are yearly TLPs, but they don't fix the original pain points like casting through walls or pathing issues. TLPs are probably their primary source of income, why wouldn't you make the first few expansions as smooth as possible and really pull people in.

I was listening to this and imagine my surprise when I heard bits of the EQ Next Theme by Jeremy Soule. Will Darkpaw be releasing this track or tying it to a future title? It brought me to tears the first time I heard it at the EQ Next reveal, and today, over a decade later, it still does. I'd love to be able to listen to the track in higher quality than live stream presentation.

they are progession based servers , basically expansions release on a timed basis.

DArkpaw needs to undo the bard move dot nerfs. or at least make them hit only 4 mobs at a time maybe 3 when moving. This way entire zones can't be affected.

(Please Like this) So it can be seen. Could Darkpaw Games please consider player voting for TLP/TLE rulesets. I adore the game and company, and I always hold hope for the new content. Truth is, we are parents and grandparents now, can we just have 50%-100% bonus experience please. Most players don't have this time, and this naturally and consistently separates the player base. An example of this would be when a smaller percent of players consistently camp big ticket items/camps to PROFIT because nothing is in place to slow or stop it. Don't want to rant on. I just want to enjoy one of my favorite games again.

Like in Hockey, Fighting is part of the game. So are Trains in Everquest. They are part of the game and test your toughness. Bring back the Trains to the Dock!

FTE might give every player a chance at a mob if the game wasn't flooded with unchecked MQ2 and auto-clickers. Even then pet classes/wizards have a large advantage due to spamable encounter engage. Terrible system if they let cheating run wild as they do.
