I said on GameDay Morning last week that obviously Denver's winning a lot of games, but I think if they’re going to make a run they're going to have to be better in the pass game. Now, they’re doing some good things and building around some things for Russell Wilson, but some other things that I need to see them do a little bit better. #russellwilson #nfl #denverbroncos

What’s been frustrating to me is that on every play there seems to be a phase of the offense that doesn’t execute and it dooms the whole play. Like when the receivers have good routes and Russ has good protection, he misses the read. Or when there is good pass pro and he is ready to throw the receivers don’t have separation. Or there are plays where the pass pro is instantly folded and you can see that Russ and his receiver are on the same page but there’s pressure immediately. When it comes together it should be very very good.

Thanks for the breakdown, its frustrating to watch Russell be indecisive. Yeah his TD to Int percentage is pretty good but he needs to push the ball. Its odd that he is tied for the most time to throw in the league but yet he has the 4th most sacks.

As a seahawks fan I still root for russ. I honestly wanted to see the Russ and Tim Patrick connection. There's was definitely lots of hype over that but unfortunately Tim Patrick has been out for the past 2 seasons. There's definitely more possibilites with Sutton, Patrick and Mims. Jeudy has been a bust. Lockett, Baldwin, DK, and even Kearse were all aware and would constantly try to find open space even after their routes. Can't say the same for any of the Broncos receivers. But will give credit to Sutton for atleast trying and as we can see he's been a lot better.

The one where Jeudy is wide open for a TD, you can see that Russ sees the opening to pick up the first down RIGHT as Jeudy breaks free. Russ saw he could pick up the first down and just B-lined for it. Ya, there was a bigger play there, but it wasn't a terrible play by Russ.

I am curious if Russel can really come to understand and execute these plays. Like most running/scrambling genius QBs, they learn to depend on their instincts and their physical ability to avoid and make positive plays. Works great! (until they lose a step with age). It is then that it is do or die. Do: learn to make reads and get the ball out quickly. Russel has the arm strength and placement. Die: keep scrambling too early. He will either get massively injured because he just isn't physically who he was 10 years ago, or his performance will die off to where he is mediocre. For the Broncos, this is an inflection point. If they give Russel the next year to see if he can progress into this new read and throw method and he is successful, he can become a true hall of fame QB because he adjusted. If he is unable to do that and Broncos bet on him, it sets them back massively again. My opinion is kind of based on this draft. Broncos do not have the resources to truly go after a quarterback. Thus, keep Russ for another year because Broncos aren't getting their future QB this draft anyway. But start stashing resources for the future!

I think there might be something of a trust issue between Russ and Jeudy. At least that's kinda what the Chargers game felt like to me. "You want to know why I don't throw you the ball when you're wide open Jerry? Here catch the ball that hits you in the hands on the three yard line with no defenders in the same stadium as you." I've seen Jerry Jeudy make some incredible catches in double coverage, then fight like an absolute dawg for four yacs. Then he'll just drop a gift wrapped dime while noone else is even on the screen.

Man I get it, Kurt is really breaking down the film and it’s informative. But if for one second, you people in the comments think that making the right reads are as simple as he points out, you are delusional. These play’s happen in mere seconds. Defenses disguise coverages, receivers don’t always run the correct routes. Coordinators don’t always call the right plays. Quarterback is the hardest position in sports and it ain’t even close. Russell has 21/7 that’s damn good. 3-1 ratio.

I usually do not want Russell to go deep on third dwn. But in this case I mean how do you not see Jerry wide open or how do you not anticipate him being wide open. I mean does Russell play madden ever. I don't understand how in madden I'm skunking guys and then in real life Russell don't see stuff. Why is he not hitting the flat when two receiving threats are attacking one target. Why would Russell rather throw it when somebody is covering sutton than takin whats open. This is why I believe defensive coaches really ruin these quarterbacks. Because Pete Carroll probably doesn't understand to even look for that and Russell's whole career he's been wired to think like pete. He got with Nathaniel last year and he didn't even know what to look for but wanted full control. You know Sean is going over the progressions w him so this is why I blame Russell on the anticipation of whats gonna b open. Because when I'm watching this on TV I'm thinking like how do you not see these guys wide open

I bet not one of you could beat him for the job and more than half of you didn’t have the same grades or better or the drive he has. @@willf.5608 You're imagining a narrative, I've actually had Kurt respond to me defending WIlson at times last year. @@teamdinosaurs999 Every QB has their ups and downs..Look at Kurt's career, he had some terrible moments with the Rams, Giants and Cards.. But he also had at one point the luxury of playing with Isaac Bruce, Torrey Holt, Az Akim and Marshall Faulk. Four all stars and two are HOF' ers. In view of his previous comments about Wilson's intelligence I find it odd that he would only use Wilson's worst game of the year to critique him. That snapshot is not reflective of his whole career or season. As far as Russell's IQ..Wilson played QB and baseball at NC State before transferring to Wisconsin in 2011, where he set the single-season FBS record for QB passer rating and led them to a BIG 10 title and the 2012 Rose Bowl and playing minor league baesball at the same. Anyone who can thrive under 2 different college systems, win a Super Bowl, throw 331 TD's, 106 INT, and have a career 100 passer rating in the NFL is no dummy. Maybe father time has caught up with Wilson and time will tell. But Kurt and everyone else is entitled to their opinion about his cerebral capacity. My opinion is that Kurt has had a negative bias against Wilson for years for whatever reason. BTW.. Ron Jaworski has always been my go to guy for quality QB analysis. So once a dude loses his want to & is just mailing it in = its all over. Payton has done everything he can but there is no fixing this ONLY wilson can make wilson want to... and what we have seen in Denver is a dude who simply doesn't want to... just wants to show up collect his paycheck, speak pablum at the podium & then book it... so hopefully the Walton family will NOT give him another dime & we can start putting a draft plan in place to get Archie 2.0 or that kid Colin Hurley who declared for LSU.
