Today, I am 58-years old today and listening to this song, today, has a far different meaning in my heart and soul. Listening to this song, today, in this moment, is truly a souvenir for me. Today, I listen to this song, and instead of enjoying just the beat, I listen to the words...I really listen to the words....I am consumed and moved by these words. When I was a young boy, these words had no meaning. I never realized how deep the words to this song truly were. When I was young, there was no need for me to understand what a souvenir was, because young people have no archives, no deep memories; at least not yet. But today, these words have far more meaning and significance because I have built a library of memories. Almost everything I pick up in my home today, an old record, an old photo with a long lost loves, a hat I used to wear 15-years ago, or the hat my father wore before he passed away. Maybe even just listening to this song, and the great times this song gave me...almost anything, is now a souvenir for me with so many memories attached. I would really love to record an acoustic version of this song... A song that focuses on the words and puts the beat on the side for a while. I think I'm going to work on that.

@@JacquesMesrine94 Thank you for your kind acknowledgment, friend. And yes, life is wonderful, but it is especially wonderful when we have fond memories and great music to look back upon. The things that will guarantee our smiles from the day the smiles were conceived to our last day. I was 18 in 1979 and looking back it was the best time of my life. Just close your eyes and relax with nice cold cocktail and let yourself drift back into 1979. It was an amazing journey that I was able to experience and lived to tell about it. In my opinion it was the best time to be alive and to live it. If I could take a time machine to go back in time it would be to 1979 and once I got there relive my life over again and I would not change a thing.

This classic just had so many layers...the disco anthem. This was the last dance signal at this great bar in Ann Arbor, Michigan. When we hear this ...we knew it was time to close the club and party outside or just go home. Hey, there was always the White Castle for sliders to clear those hang overs. Those good ol' days are gone...but I still have a flickering recollection of 70's and 80's. Keep on dancin'!!!....it never gets old.

This song was created to be played in dance clubs with that incredible sound that just immersed you in it, everyone dancing in cool casual clothes that would be called “streetwear” today, feeling on top of the world with no level of pretension since the feeling was genuine and not contrived. It was other-worldly in the discos.. With the syncopated lights and disco-tropic atmosphere.. I have such fond memories.. Perhaps my favorite disco song of all.. sitting pretty on its throne with arpeggio-love&desire, thelma Houston-dont leave me this way, Patti Brooks-after dark, george Mcray-rock your baby, Machine-there but for the grace of god, Donna Summer-now i need you/midnight shift I could keep going.. But I like a certain flavor of disco..and Voyage-Souvenirs hits it on the nose! One of the saddest things for me is that every single club I used to go to is now gone and torn down or burned down.. Oskos(the zoo in tgif) odyssey1, circus, dillons, flippers, etc.. If only the young people of today could have seen the glory of those places in full swing.. it really was like dancing in heaven..

Greatest , Disco, song to dance to!... Very proud, to have been, part, of the Disco Era, 1978, to be exact, ...I was in Camp Pendleton, a Corporal in Marine Corps, ...best time of my life, in Oceanside California....Ooorah!

@rogerivanmirandacreeggan75819 жыл бұрын

Absolutely the best song to allow yourself to be transported as if to experience heaven. Light, freeing, incredibly spiritually uplifting, I mean, there aren't enough words to describe this song. You have to feel it

The best time to be young and alive, oh those mid to late 70’s to early 80’s. Summertime a different club every night. The best part of growing up in New York. NYC, Nassau County & Suffolk. It had everything and we did everything. Happy times, great memories
