I thought sayonara was to his old love, and in a way it was, he was saying farewell to what he was, as he will now become something else, enhanced by the "encounter" with his daughter and the miracle of life; simultaneous making us feel tiny, and still making our hearts grow larger Thank you @_ dogcat400 for the translation.
