That silent moment when Nucky talks about his decision being made easier and Gyp stops long enough to realize that he was singling himself out in a den of jackals was perfect. He's a good example of a guy who got where he is by being hyper violent and aggressive...but eventually that stops working. If you can't play the politics and diplomacy, you're never going to get far in the upper echelons, and viciousness isn't going to cut it when you've pissed off every single person in the room enough to want you dead. He just couldn't let anything even resembling an insult to him go, and that made him weaker than he was capable of perceiving. Hence, why he dies on a beach in a puddle of urine, choking on his blood after being stabbed by his own guys.

@missbelled6700 not true, he is a capo for Joe masseria and they are businessmen with ties in crime. It was the character laughing at Gyp. Michael Stuhlbarg never comes out of character and in my opinion, it kind of showed that Rothstein couldn't take Gyp seriously. Rothstein had way more power and connections than Rosetti. He could've had Gyp killed easily if he felt the need to do so.
