@@singlewomenretiringabroad Sorry you had that experience. That's my biggest fear so I watch all the shows on you tube. You have to get a money belt. Watch Rick Stevens . He informs people how to not get robbed and wear a money belt. I have been using them for years. Make sure you wear a top and pants and put it on under your top and stick it in the front of your pants. Only keep one card on you when you leave the house and keep some cash in your money belt. Put your card in your hand bag in the inner pocket with a zip and zip it! I also use RFID sleeves for all cards. They prevent scimming of your cards. You can also get a passport card. It's an ID with the same information on your passport. Look on the USA passport office.

Sorry this happened to you! I had a wallet stolen in my younger days and it changed me! Today, I only carry a wallet as a decoy. I keep my money and credit cards separated in baggies. I keep the money I am going to spend that day separate from my other money so that I am not taking out lots of cash at once. When I use to travel abroad, I wore a money and passport belt under my clothes! I also took off the zipper tabs on my purse so that it would be difficult to open. Also, keep an old phone for use as a decoy, and if it is charged you can use it to make emergency calls (even without service)! Carry backpack s in front of you, Cross body strapped purses are also good. Stay safe!

Theft happens everywhere. I recommend Pac Safe bags that have locking systems for the strap and zipper compartments and cut-proof strap. In Cuba, I locked my bag to the table leg which I felt was security enough because I was with a big dining group. When I came back from the bathroom, our lovely server was picking up the entire table end while our tour leader was tugging at the bag! They thought I was being careless and left my bag vulnerable. I showed them the lock and we all had a good laugh.

Well, I think I did mention in my first comment on one video of your channel that as a senior man(65+) I got ASSAULTED by 2 young(20s) dark-skinned ladies near the Iglesia del Carmen subway station around 8 in the evening' , corner of the street for Hotel El Panama. As a senior Black man, I tend to be nice to dark-skinned young ladies greeting you in a friendly way. Well, do NOT do it in Panama ciudad as these 2 young ladies were just trying to confirm that I was a tourist . They both block my two hands while one of them was searching through my pants pockets. I had to SCREAM loudly to attract passers-by attention for them to let me go my way. Fortunately, I was let go without losing my passport and bank cards. This happened in February 2024 ! On Avenida Eusebio A. Morales ( El Cangrejo), groups of 2 to 3 young LADIES will approach single men in a very aggressive manner ( seizing your arm, following you for one minute).

Sorry to hear that this happened to you. I don't know if it's still happening but there was a gang of girls going around NYC stealing women's purses when they were riding the bus. If a woman had her bag sitting on her lap one of them would pour water on her head and when she reached up in surprise to touch her hair one of the robbers would grab her purse. I guess if the strap is too short to wear your purse as a crossbody bag try to sit near the window and tuck the bag in between your body and the wall

Some good advice, def a learning experience. What I do when I go to Europe, is wear a small purse under my clothes, so if I need to access it, I can access it by pulling it through my top. I also carry necessary cash & metro ticket in my pocket. Also, I would only carry necessary 1 cc with me, leave the rest at home. I only wear a cross body purse here in Panama. I turn it around, so no one can access it. Again, I only carry my cedula & 1cc with me. The rest stay at home. I don't live in PC & only travel with my husband.

Maggie, I love your channel and your optimism. I feel a lot of affinity with you: Haitian, retired, common sense, and trying to find a purpose for this next phase of my life. Excellent tips in today’s videos. No place is ever going to be 100% perfect

But you said Panama was perfect for you and that you would recommend it to everyone but why are you complaining ? This could be the beginning of something dangerous a head, hope nothing worse happens to you but remember to always defend that which is your.(Black Africa)

Hi, thanks for watching. I still love Panama and would recommend it. It's not for everyone. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

You absolutely need to change the title of this video. This is hugely exaggerated, sensationalized and inaccurate. "Robbery" is well defined and you even explain how it doesn't meet the definition but then add a caveat about how YOU THINK it does... I just subbed you a week ago and this is ridiculous!

Thank you for your comment. I'm guessing you unsubbed..
