I think 'Duality, and 'Mamata Banerjee' must be made synonymous. During the elections, she widely promulgated her, and TMC's Bengali 'roots', and how no outsiders must 'rule' over her state. Now, she herself is pandering to those very regional areas where these outsiders have a stronghold. (i.e Goa, etc.) It's very evident she is outreaching to the masses as a national figure, but for that, she has to keep aside the 'Bengali Race' argument below the cactus.

Actually, by "outsider", it was meant for the caste and creed politics inherent of the cow belt culture and politics, which is indeed quite foreign not only to just Bengal but also to many southern and north-eastern states. And I, don't feel that I'm doing anything wrong saying that. Exhibit A, UP, a state which has a population as big as Pakistan but has even lower gdp than that of the country!! So, as you can see, all the states who are fore-runners of Indian economy (That includes states like WB as well, ever after facing drought of heavy industry!) are actually being dragged down by the states like UP not only in an economical way but also in a political morality stand-point. Since all the states in Cow belt like UP have high affinity towards caste and creed based politics. Which is again very foreign to states like WB.

Today in India, BJP has proved that if you do caste and creed politics then even if you don't win votes in liberal states, you can still be on the helm of India's ship. Parties like TMC and AAP are only now starting to expand. It would be 10+ years even in the best case that TMC would be a real national party. But in 5 more years India would be a de-facto one party State. That's where Congress comes in. In the official tmc newspaper ,Jaago Bangla, their spokesperson has hinted that what she is actually doing or aiming for is that by chance either the Cong or BJP does not get the majority mark, and she gets a lion's share of the 42 seats, she will demand the PM chair for her support. So it's all about the chair. What WB LoP Shuvendu Adhikary had said recently makes more sense that after virtually destroying WB economy, giving up the day to day administration to the Kol High Court, and relinquishing almost all CM powers to bhaipo (he now has full control of IAS,IPS transfers, controls Education,irrigation and other imp ministries ), she just wants to give up her current chair to her nephew and wants to take over a new chair.

Pritesh Patel Congress lacks its own ideology and it borrowed pseudo secular, anti-hindu and anti-national ideology from commies. The lack of an original ideology also manifest in the form of corruption. BJP top leadership comes from RSS dharmic and nationalist ideology. So, even if BJP did not do any thing, they would neither do corruption nor sell the country. So, BJP is the best bet for India for the next 25 yr.

Kejriwal nowhere to be seen(other than Delhi), Mamata a mere empty noise: not fit for national politics, left parties have become irrelevant internationally, DMK and Stalin can’t think beyond Tamil and neck deep into minority politics. Hence, only option left is BJP whether we like it or not. It’s my opinion that NATO is not a good approach for democracy.

I can see on the internet that the Congress IT cell behaves as if it does not even care about reviving itself. It lists down the problems with Modi and anyone who challenges them is termed as an "andhbhakt." If I know how the cookie crumbles, this mentality of alienating the fence sitters is not going to bode well for the Congress. Yeah we in Bengal don't want our state to become rape capital of India like UP Bihar where every hour some girl gets burned down for wearing jeans. We are happy to trade off a part of industrial growth for not having cow belt parties in the state with their backward idelogy and hindi imposition agenda. And besides if you follow figures and reports, Bengal is actually far ahead of many other states on numerous HDI metrics and quality of life indicators. Unless TMC does something similar to what BJPee is doing at the center than they will have the goodwill of the people.

I went through so much trauma that it took me many years to heal just from watching Bengali poverty. I respect Bengali culture and thats why I went to WB to study engineering from Delhi.

India still has massive poverty in many places and Bengal has them too. Dharave for instance is not in Bengal. Similarly there are many other areas of poverty all over the country. Unlike bhakts I'm not in denial about the fact. But its also a fact that according to objective statistics Bengal is one of the best in many metrics. There was an episode few weeks ago about poverty distribution across states. There Bengal was on par with Gujarat despite being one of the larger states. So its relative. Even if you go to parts of New York LA you will be shocked seeing the poverty and degradation. Because of that will you call LA a "poor state"? I think not if you have brains. Hope you get well soon from your trauma.

The only reason why tmc won in west bengal is the polarization it created regarding nrc and a weak performance by cpm and Congress which failed to split muslim votes....nearly 80 percent of minority votes went for the tmc and they nearly bagged 50 percent of the vote share and BJP just at 40 percent

As usual a balanced view of politics, SG. India definitely needs the Congress. A new congress. Or old congress with new leadership. Anybody, except a handful (literally) can see that. Yes, politics and its discussion are part of a democracy as long as the discussion includes the benefits to the electorate, mostly in its united functioning to improve the lot of its people and in the progress of the Nation to compete with developing and developed economies of the World. Frankly, winning elections and defeating a party (in this case the BJP?) as the declared aim is an affront to democracy. Mamta, P. Kishore, Sharad Pawar, the Yadavs and Patnaiks are all passe’. May be an odd Patnaik or a Stalin may work for a while at local levels. We do need two strong political outfits at the National level, each with a 40% voter base for a strong Government at the Centre always and every time - without that India will forever remain a laggard democracy. Tail piece. Coalitions are no answer. You can’t expect to consistently win test matches with T20 specialists. Like IPL, the best coalitions in India can offer only some excitement. An aside: It is time we stop talking about defeating the BJP and talk of a political environment best suited for progress. A nation ca't make progress by just praying any which way.
