As the spouse of an LAFD firefighter - I can only speak confidently with knowledge on the department matters mentioned here. Regarding the budget cut - LAFD gets their fiscal funding in installments and the $17mil was the just the first installment. To my knowledge, the actual budget cut is actually $49mil. Understanding this though does require a comprehensive understanding of the department’s funding. All that to say - any cut is disastrous considering we are in need of 2,000 more firefighters, 62 more stations, apparatus and apparatus mechanics and more. Regarding the salary & union agreements - the bigger story here is the new Blackrock funded payroll system implemented prematurely that owes firefighters (my husband included) tens of thousands of dollars in back pay. Allie Beth or producers, please message me if you are interested in learning more. There is a private, internal group of whistleblowers looking to get this info out.

@@SavedBySweetGraceI actually haven't watched this video yet and don't know what the context is regarding the controversy of anointing oneself with oil. But I can tell you that in Catholicism, anointing with oil is part of the sacrament called Anointing of the Sick, but it's always done by a priest to another person who is sick, never by a lay person and never to oneself. And it isn't some superstitious thing that places any kind of power in the oil itself. It is recognized that it is Jesus who touches the sick person through the ministry of the priest (whose ordination, by the way, can be traced back to the apostles and from them to Jesus Himself) and while physical healing is the hoped for effect, if it is God's will, "the primary effect of the Sacrament is a spiritual healing by which the sick person receives the Holy Spirit's gift of peace and courage to deal with the difficulties that accompany serious illness or the frailty of old age." (That's from the usccb website.) Hope that helps!

Hey Allie! I’ve watched you for a long time and you are a wonderful role model and woman of God. I’m glad you have addressed the issue with the oil video. You are correct biblically when it comes to the oils. I know your heart and you were trying to warn the masses against clinging to the oils themselves. Because so many people would take her video and run with it without correct context. I am sure that Ashley did not intend to insinuate trust in the oils themselves. She definitely should have made that clear, since so many people are trying to maintain grasp of New age practices while adopting Christianity. I do think that Ashley should offer clarity to her viewers on this. I also think you, Allie, should offer a direct apology to Ashley only for the sarcastic blinking that definitely came across demeaning and not how Christ would want us to treat others. Maybe you have reached out to her, but just a thought. Not an apology for the biblical correction, just for the demeaning blinking effects.

Allie, I wished you showed the oil video for more context. I am surprised by all the opposing response. In my opinion, Allie was not commenting on the girl in the video. It was not a personal attack. No where did Allie question her faith or salvation. Therefore, there is no need for a personal apology. Allie was commenting on theology. And that is the issue here. There is a difference in theology. I think Allie did a sufficient explanation in this video for her stance. And others are allowed to disagree. Allie’s job is to comment and give her opinion. That’s how social media goes. As for the face expression, I don’t think it was a big deal. People make face expressions because they don’t agree, not because they are being demeaning. I think people throw the word “judging”around too much. As if it the the biggest sin but judgement is good. We all make judgements and we should. Another word for it is “wisdom”.

The anointing oil thing: I agree and disagree with both Allie and the lady she was reacting to. Agreement with Allie: let’s make sure this is done biblically and as she laid out in this episode, NO ONE in the scriptures or in biblical times was anointing THEMSELVES for spiritual gifts or any spiritual reasons. You RECEIVE anointing from the authority. Either God Himself, or an authority He has in place over you. Ex: David was anointed as king by God’s prophet. As Allie said, Moses anointed Aaron priest. Etc. You don’t anoint yourself to anything. That isn’t how it works. Disagreement with Allie: the spirituality of using oil and anointing is real, and doesn’t have to be reduced to symbolism only. God really does use physical things for spiritual healing, blessing, anointing unto something… when the apostles anointed people they really (not symbolically) healed. Or were made elders, really, by being anointed with oil. Etc. That still happens today, it’s not just for the time of the apostles.

@lynhastings8671 The title is essential oils. If you believe that blessing comes and healing comes from being anointed with oil, you cannot use any oil. Biblically it has to be made a certain way and it has to be prayed over by a pastor, elder, or priest. Essential oils do not make the cut.

Ruth 3:3 Naomi instructs Ruth to go and wash herself and anoint herself. Anointing with oil was common during biblical times. The Hebrew word "suk" refers to the act of applying oil, which was often used to signify consecration or setting apart for a divine purpose. For Ruth, anointing herself was a way to present herself favorably to Boaz, but it also reflects a deeper spiritual readiness to embrace God's plan. This act can inspire believers to seek the anointing of the Holy Spirit in their own lives, preparing their hearts for God's work. In the video, Ashley was just showing how she prepares herself, putting on the full armor of God (which she say’s) as she prepares herself for her day….Before she goes out into the world. I realize that in this day & age, with destiny cards, etc. we need to be careful. But, before we as Christians excoriate someone, perhaps we should do our due diligence, find out a little bit about the person, exercise the fruits of the spirit and show a little charity. Just saying….☺️💓

After listening to the scripture pulled out concerning anointing oil, I think I see where the miscommunication is. Allie spoke about the oil in James 5 being symbolic, and she is correct. But I think it is important to recognize what the anointing oil is symbolic for - the Holy Spirit. Baptism is symbolic, yes, but a very real spiritual transformation occurs in a person when they are baptized. Communion is symbolic, yes, but very real transformation happens when a person partakes of it. The scriptures that seem to have been missed, concerning anointing, are things like Acts 10:38 where Jesus is anointed with the Holy Spirit and power, or 1 John 2:20 where believers are anointed by the Holy One. The oil isn't just oil, but represents the Holy Spirit. Not in a dead fashion, either, but the Spirit truly comes upon people when oil is applied in faith - you see it at the anointing of King Saul and King David. We see it still when we pray for the sick and they are healed like in James 5. The oil is not necessary, but the Spirit of God is. What separates this from witchcraft is not power - for God does anoint His children with power through the baptism of the Spirit. The difference is where does that power come from. Witches sage their homes, but Christians anoint their homes. Both are inviting spirits, but only one is inviting the Holy Spirit. We can't just look at a ritual and then say, "That's witchcraft." It would be like looking at the sacrifices of Israel and declaring they must be pagan because they are killing animals on an altar. The use and purpose both matter. We should also be very careful not to make the mistake of the religious leaders who declared Jesus was driving demons out by the power of a demon when He later declared it was by the Holy Spirit. Calling the Spirit demonic is an error scripture tells us to avoid at all costs.

I'm gonna be 1000% real here. Allie, I love your show, and admire you as a more mature sister in Christ. You are gifted and courageous and absolutely led by the Spirit. I will say, we don't agree on everything theologically, but it's secondary doctrine- the issue of deliverance being one of them. As someone who is not reformed, operates in the prophetic, and generally believes in the gifts being for today... I agree about THIS clip. Not because "oil" is the issue, but because we will know a tree by its fruit. Here's the issue: in many ***spiritual*** ministries (which focus on the POWER of the Holy Spirit and not on the character of Christ) there's sometimes this tiptoeing into what you describe .. witchcraft. I.E., selling special oil, "blessed" items, etc. I won't say that praying over things is meaningless, or that anointing things is nonsense. I pray and sometimes use anointing oil but majority of the time, I don't. Because I know I don't need it. Where these "ministries" go wrong is the same spot Simon the sorcerer went wrong and believe they can sell or buy the gift of God. What does this have to do with Ashley? Well, as I said, you know a tree by its fruit. That whole sphere of "influencers" have, more often than not, resembled the rest of the world. I will just put it that way. Knowing what I know and having seen what I have seen (the fruit), I was fully put off by the clip of the anointing when I saw it. And again, I'm someone who believes in operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I believe in the Great Commission and Mark 16:15-18. I'm taking the time to mention this because it's such a mucky situation, and unless we have a more robust picture... it's easy to cast a stone on either side. I am sincerely praying that the young and new Christians slow down and sit at Jesus' feet before getting ahead of ourselves.. God bless you all in Jesus name.

And in her caption it was something about how what she did was on AUTHORITY! She wrote AUTHORITY in caps, so I am too. I have to admit, when I watched her video the first thing I thought was that it was just like witchcraft! Maybe not everyone understands it, but I do because I was very interested in the occult before the Lord saved me. The thing is, I also went through a phase where I tried to mix the occult practices with Christianity. There was something i liked about the aesthetics. I do believe a lot of people do the same as they transition. The sad part is that Ashley is making these things public, and others may think this is ok! She needs to repent and stop trying to be a Christian influencer when she isn't biblically sound. I'm so happy you called it out. God bless you and your ministry.

As someone who worked for CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act for environmental review of projects) for years, it’s a mess. In general, it makes sense. Projects imposed should analyze their impacts on the environment and population. However, a lot of good projects don’t pass due how expensive this review gets and takes a lot of time to pass as well as agencies are held to their constituents (residents) who may not pass projects due to demand of NIMBYs (not in my backyard). I could go on rants about how each jurisdiction has so many policies and additions for analyzing and processing and city of LA is a prime example of overreach.

This is as much syncretism as Christmas Day is. Reclaiming God’s creation for His glory should not be condemned. I acknowledge your attempt to backpedal the witchcraft accusation. It is not closer to sorcery than scripture, however. No spells are cast in her video, no chatting with spirits. It’s literally praying God’s promises and in Jesus’ name while anointing, based on her understanding of scripture. “Witchcraft seeks supernatural power outside of God’s bounds.” Which part of her prayer was doing that? Witchcraft and sorcery will never acknowledge Jesus as the power behind the prayer. The person did not seek supernatural power outside of God’s bounds. Yes, putting your faith in creation as holding the power and accessing or “endowing” said power without God is wrong. It’s idol worship. No different than the golden calf in exodus. God created gold and gold was exploited for use against God. But it is a massive and incorrect leap to assume that was what this woman was doing.

Now you said she did not claim that the oil gave her powers but I will give you her transcript word for word: “Say this with me at the beginning of every single morning (Religious ritual). First your going to take anointing oil, and preferably after you get ready, and your going to say, “I anoint this body to heal the sick (collarbone placement), cast our demons, prophesy, raise the dead (up and down motion on her chest), and operate in the full power of God, Amen.” Let’s go to scripture real quick, in Matthew 10 Jesus commands his disciples to preach the gospel, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils. Notice after that Jesus told them to literally bring nothing. Check it out for yourself Matthew 10:9 - 10. You will not see a direct scripture or command from Jesus for the disciples to anoint themselves with oil. He simply said go out there and do it with nothing. Who are we supposed to follow and model our lives as? Ashley or Jesus Christ Vanessa? Here is my second argument, look in scripture and try to find any time where a disciple of Jesus anointed themselves to perform miracles, you will not find it. You will find that they place it on others, that is crystal clear and you can’t argue against it.

@Watchmanandres thanks for the response! I don’t believe that you need anointing oil to do any of those things we have the Holy Spirit and authority in Jesus name through the scriptures. At the same time It doesn’t go against the Bible to anoint yourself or others it’s really symbolic for being set apart in him there are many examples in the Bible of oil being used in this way of being set apart. I think clarifying and making sure people are not mislead about what she meant in the video would have been an acceptable response. Saying it’s now witchcraft is a bold statement without first understanding what this girl actually meant and believes.

Love your podcast and a lot you stand and speak for. Please stop with the name calling even if it feels warranted, not something Jesus would do & we're called to grow into likeness of him. All the love ❤️

Allie, I would love to hear your thoughts on “that Christian girl” lifestyle, Christian social media influence, social media things like posting lots of selfies online, pictures of yourself reading your bible, going to church etc. For Christian women, what is some practical advice on how to handle social media, who we should be letting influence us (the difference between a pastor and online influencers), and what it really looks like to follow Jesus and how that’s different from self-help, healthy habits or a certain lifestyle

48:27 : Before I hear Allie's response to this oils thing, I'm gonna guess what it will be, 'cause this is my response: Anointing yourself is like trying to baptize yourself or offer yourself communion.

Ok, good explanation, Allie. I do appreciate that you took accountability for giving a longer theological response, helped me understand things a bit better and also affirm what I already knew. Not gonna lie, Ashley’s video caused a lot of confusion. But praise God we can always go back to scripture to verify what is biblical and what is not. And I also appreciate that you noticed that the video may have come off a bit too harsh, but I also agree that if people want to be in the public space, they should be ready for any type of criticism.

Should we anoint ourselves with oils for powers to do the works of the Holy Spirit… no. Is it witchcraft to anoint ourselves… no. I anoint my home, my husband, children, and myself because biblically it’s available for me to take up as my authority in Jesus Christ. Friends and strangers as asked or led by the Holy Spirit.

The first error is this: praying the promises of God while anointing is not “endowing powers.” If she were doing that, Jesus would not have been invited.

The reason why there's so much disagreement now you actually said it without addressing it but how when you added the word oil because it wasn't in your quote unquote version of the Bible I didn't know that there are versions of the word of God there's only one word of God.

Wow! I’m a Bible believing Charismatic and truly think you are judging all here just from your experience. Demonic is so far from my faith and following of Jesus Christ. If it’s not in the Bible it’s not from God. Sorry your experience was bad.

Allie, you still are assuming that Ashley was trying to endow herself with powers and that she believed the oil had some inherent power to do this. As you said, oil can be used to consecrate things. “I anoint myself to…” can be understood as “I consecrate myself to…” She was likely consecrating her body to the works of the Spirit, symbolically with the oil. This is a crucial aspect! You are assuming her intent, and it is upon this assumption you’ve accused her of witchcraft. You owe her a public apology for assuming something like this and accusing her.

This!! Perfectly said. Saying she’s in witchcraft is so out of line.

The conservative part of the state of California, at one time, tried to have a split away from the Blue Pill urban areas. Where the Urban Accents get their way, the difficulty is encouraging organized crime to the point of no help or hope for farming and ranching. Food is viewed as predators using criminals to keep cops busy. Urban people call shots against the downtown business concerns and against a lot of reasonably priced food for their local residents. The cops don't like money going toward food eaten by the Death Eaters of Voldemort watching TV. The star-nosed vole needs to be the soil analyst of Disney's Atlantis. The burning of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was Michael rowing his boat ashore. This got rid of his deposit on it.

Scripture tells us that we are to "spread the fragrance" of Jesus Christ. Scripture also state that He was anointed with the "oil of JOY" and "fragrant is His robes". His LIPS were anointed with the "oil of GRACE". The only way we can spread HIS FRAGRANCE is by sharing the gospel and through our testimony (eg. through our words and our actions). We can only do so by DRAWING CLOSE TO HIM. It will "rub off" on us. We cannot "smell it" it but other people will. And to some it will be the "fragrance of life" and to other "the stench of death". It is obvious that these scriptures do not refer to real anointing oil. The FOCUS is on HIM and NOT on us. I agree with your response that the recent trend is steeped in New Age witchcraft.
