At a concert in Boulder, Colorado in August 2019, Jon Anderson, the lead singer, stated that his inspiration for writing this song was him 'waking up' ...spiritually and literally. He said he woke up one morning to see his two eldest children, who were babies at the time, quietly sleeping and he was over awed at the wonder of life, leading him to write the song. The recording is here on You Tube.

After listening to this the world seems a brighter, more beautiful place. I only hope that Jon Andersons musical message of transcendence will help us see the infinitely wonderful story that is the human race.

This is my favorite song from my favorite YES album. A group of friends went to see them in the 90s and after the show ended and the lights came up one of the group proclaimed "That just makes you feel inadequate doesn't it?"😄 Such virtuosos!

Every song from this album (Going For The One) is perfect. I highly recommend you hear all of it. They have so much amazing stuff. Some Yes lyrics are very concrete and have very specific meaning, more or less, others are mostly abstract such as Siberian Khatru, many are halfway in-between. All of them let you use your imagination to take you wherever it takes you. Many songs are indirectly about finding and understanding god, in a non-traditional, non-specific way.

Yes really was an all-star band. All Virtuoso players each of who could also compose, which is unique. Each member also had a distinctive playing style and sound. Nobody sounded like howe, nobody sounded like squier, nobody sounded like wakeman, nobody sounded like Anderson. They were mature musicians because somehow they made it all work when having all that talent and ego could have easily blown up in their face. They were one of the exceptions to the old saying "you can't have too many chefs in the kitchen".

I highly recommend after maybe a couple more of their "normal length" songs that you give the monster track "Close to the Edge" a listen. There is nothing like it. My favorite piece of music ever written, and I don't say that lightly.
