Hey George, I'm not sure if you are checking comments on older videos so I'm jumping ahead to thank you for all you've done! You break down japanese grammar in such a thoughtful way for the student, it's really helped me in my studies! I was *especially* stuck on the rules for conjugation and your iru/eru distinction helped clarify so much for me. There are other great explanations but this one has helped me the most. I'll be ordering your books, but please keep the videos going! They are insanely helpful. Thank you! Ok jumping back into the playlist now lol

Thank you George for all the hard work you put in! I'm about to finish JFZ 4 will then continue with JFZ 5 after that. I started out with Minna no nihongo, but after finishing the first book and starting the second one, I just felt like I needed more in depth grammar knowledge, so I got all your books and I love them! After finishing JFZ 5, I will try to start Minna no nihongo 2 once again and I hope, it won't frustrate me as it did back then.

Maybe I'm missing the point, but @ 1:42, about「月末」if the weekend is literally Saturday and Sunday. Is there an exact period of time described by 月末? The last week for example? Or is it just the moment the month ends that I'm describing when I use 月末?

Hi jonathanallen2560. 月末 have many nuances depending on context. It's not only specific days. If you do something what you have to take weeks for it, you can use 月末 for a week. But I think 月末 means the last few days of month in most situations. Anyway the last week has a sspecific word 最終週. Thank you.
@japanesefromzero
@japanesefromzero 10 ай бұрын
Even in English we say “end of the month” and it isn’t a set day. Only the weekend has a set time frame. End of the year as well can be the entire month of December. So basically just use it like English.

Hi again jonathanallen2560. You have to use 州 for state instead of 県. アメリカの全部50州 doesn't make sense. If you want to use this words order , 部 is unnecessary. Just 全 can modify later words. If you want tio use 全部, you should change words order. Likes 50州全部. Thank you.

George I wanted to let you know that because many of your [older] videos don't have the specific grammar written on the title (or description) they will not be found if someone searches for "X grammar". Take your と思う video for example, if i search "と思う" it wont be found atl all, so people will miss out on your great videos.

So would the following sentence be "I will study by 9o'clock" or "I am studying until 9o'clock"? 9時までに勉強します。And how would you say the other one if it's the first one?
@SonarHD
@SonarHD 10 ай бұрын
9時までに勉強します sounds just as weird in Japanese as it does in English. You’re saying, “I will study BY 9 o’clock.” If you get rid of the に particle, then it becomes a natural sentence 9時まで勉強します = “I will study UNTIL 9 o’clock.” If you tweak the sentence a little, then we can make it sound natural again using までに, like so: 9時までに勉強し終わります = “I will finish studying by 9 o’clock.” With までに something needs to be finished by the designated time. You can’t start an action at that point. Hope that makes sense.
@1uploadrs
@1uploadrs 10 ай бұрын
If you want to indicate future tense you would probably want to use つもり as in 9時までに勉強するつもりです。(By 9, I intend to study). Your sentence makes the point across too so you are not wrong. For the 'I am studying until 9 just drop the に and go 9時まで勉強しています as the the しています represents ongoing form (Until 9, I am studying) basically.
@japanesefromzero
@japanesefromzero 10 ай бұрын
