"Steven Tyler and Joe Perry loved the attraction so much that they rode it 12 times before leaving." That is just so adorably wholesome, especially for a band that had a less than wholesome reputation back in their heyday.

I'm glad they can't replace the Rockin' Roller Coaster with a marvel ride; it's an original story, let it be. Not everything needs to be a reminder of all the intellectual properties Disney owns. Besides, I like Sunset Blvd. the way it is: a mix of Old Hollywood glamour and the intensity of the music industry. Two big rides based on movies would kill the great contrast that section's got going for it.
@kingofrapture

Exactly, I couldn't agree more. I also love the old Hollywood section of the park since I love studying film History. I hope it remains there for at least a few more years. I want to go back there again.

@Unownshipper

@@sorcerersapprentice Oh no, I hope that's not true! That'd be a huge loss. Is it just deal to use The Twilight Zone copyright that'd expire or would the whole ride be up with? It'd be so sad if it lost any aspect of its ambiance because I think the TOT has one if not the most well-themed and cohesive story of any ride in the park. The suggestion to borrow the story from Tokyo Disney is a good one, but nothing would compare to the tried and true Tower of Terror. If Aerosmith goes, that'd be too bad, but I can see the argument. So long as its a roller coaster tied to the music industry, I'd be satisfied. I just hope they'd choose a worthy replacement. There were rumors way back when that they were going to replace Aerosmith with the Jonas Bros! What a nauseatingly shallow prospect that would've been! Besides obvious cheap self-promotion, the ride would've aged SO poorly. Glad it didn't happen that way.

When the band's manager asks what she's supposed to do, "Send them all with you?" The cast member operating the pre-show room has the option to call out over the intercom or otherwise a line about giving the "tour group" of guests some backstage passes. Hence why Steven Tyler looks to the crowd, and says, "I love that idea!" Cast members still sometimes do this, but it's much more rare compared to the early days of the attraction. Some extra knowledge for ya.

If Disney were to change the American version of “Rockin’ Roller Coaster starring: Aerosmith,” the only acceptable change, in my opinion, would be “Rockin’ Roller Coaster starring: Queen.” This could work, as Disney has had full ownership of Queens music in North America since the early 90’s. Plus, with Disney about to acquire 21st Century Fox, a Queen-centric update would allow for some easy Fox cross-promotion (just film a new pre-show with the cast from “Bohemian Rhapsody”). Honestly though, I would love to have a roller coaster with songs like “Brighton Rock,” “Seven Seas of Rye,” and “Don’t Stop Me Now.”

When I was a little girl, maybe around 4 or so, my momma would ALWAYS listen to Aerosmith, and so naturally I became obsessed with their songs while growing up. When I was about 13, my parents tried convincing me to get on rock n roller coaster because it revolved around Aerosmith... I cried and begged to NOT go on 😂😂😂 Then on our next trip, when I was 14, I decided that it was time to hide the baby in me for a bit, and actually get on... Best. Decision. Ever. Now, I can’t get enough of roller coasters, I’m always looking to get on the one with the most loops and barrel rolls. Rock n roller coaster popped my roller coaster cherry, and the day Disney decides to “reimagine” this wonderful ride, will be the day a piece of my heart breaks. So many memories made while on this ride, and they link to precious memories made with my momma. She and I are always listening to Aerosmith together.

Yeah I agree with you on Aerosmith. That fact that they wanted to do more than just lend their music and actually be a part of the attraction shows that they wanted to give park goers a good time. This might sound like a dumb statement, but while they are not among my top 5 favorite musical artists, Aerosmith is without question in my top 10, not only because I like there music, but mainly it’s because of there willingness to contribute to the Rock’N’Roller Coaster.

The wife and I were at Disneyworld in the summer of 1999 and had just finished riding the "Tower of Terror," and were walking past the brand-new ride that wasn't yet open to the public when we noticed the gate was open and there was a Disney cast member inviting people in to ride the roller coaster. They were conducting an unannounced "preview" of the ride as it was set to open the following week, and wanted to get the word out and also get rider's opinions on the ride. Of course we went in to give it a try as we both love roller coasters, and there was NO crowd and NO waiting. We loved the ride so much we rode it four times back-to-back before we left! We went back to Disneyworld the following year about the same time (summer) and the ride was absolutely packed! To this day it's still one of my favorite coasters!

I remember when I was like 5 or 6, me, my twin brother, and my dad were in line for the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, and I was excited to ride it as I was tall enough to ride (I've always been pretty tall for my age.) but when we got into the loading area, I could hear the screaming countdown voice. I started crying as that voice scared me and I was going, "I don't wanna go on anymore!" so we left the line. My brother was mad at me for preventing him from going on the ride while my dad tried to comfort me. XD I was such a chicken when I was a kid.

Very nice memory with this one, sister was terrified with coasters and we told her this was a slow ride (she was only 10). We get to the front of the line and she sees the ride power launch and proceeds to start screaming. We had waited 2 hours to ride and my dad was livid thinking he wasn't going to get to ride because of her but thankfully the Disney staff offered to watch over her until we were off. Great Times.

I was on the opening team for what was then Disney-MGM's Rock n' Roller Coaster. It was a great experience for sure. This is a great run down of the attraction. We had thought from the beginning it was going to be The Stones. As for the loss of the Chris person in the studio, that's more than likely a cost cutting move as it was a cast member in the rotation. That's one less person they need to operate the attraction.

This was my first and only coaster I've ever ridden with inversions. Also my first launch coaster. I am a wimp and although it turns out I love the loops/corkscrews on coasters, I am much too afraid of drops to ride them...unfortunate lol. Have an odd history with this ride. I was there opening day, my brother rode the ride with one of the band members, I watched a Brittany spears concert in front of the coaster, and I went to the Star Wars party with the overlay. The overlay was a lot of fun. Really cool how just a few sound effects can make you feel like you're on the millennium falcon. Was a blast. They had a special frame for the event as well, so we got pictures [of me screaming because even though I like the ride the liftoff is still too intense for me lol..]. Great ride. I'll be upset if it's ever replaced with some random IP....

My favorite memory of this place was that I was a little kid, waiting with my dad in the gift shop, while my mom and brother rode the ride. I found this weird Aerosmith pencil that was squiggly and rather had a weird shape, so I thought it was a bendy pencil. So I thought to be nice, and try bending it back, and what I found out, but was too late, was that it was a regular wooden pencil, so I accidentally broke it. My dad saw, and we both had that ""Oh shit!"" look on our face. I quickly hid the two broken bits within the pile of pencils, and we, or I, never got caught. Though I'm sure the pencils were dirt cheap, so it wouldn't be a big deal if we got caught.

I was a CM at Rock'n'Roller Coaster in 2017! I worked Galactic Nights, the Star Wars audio was put on each train as the b mode/maintenance track (it replaced, of all songs, Down With The Sickness) and since it was very easy to switch tracks, literally a switch on the side of each train, for all ride at the end of the night we would turn the show lights off and ride with Star Wars.
