I can see a nice throw, just by putting 4 of those blocks together! Add a couple of extra rows for length at the top and bottom, and you've got a great couch quilt. I'll get right on that! What a fun afternoon project. 😺

I made my first potato chip quilt using an 8.5" center square and 4.5 x 2.5" pieces. I was really nervous about cutting two of the blocks in half to set that center square on point, but it came out perfect! This is the easiest and most enjoyable way to get rid of my darn scrap stash. Thank you!

Great job! I'm so glad to hear you tried it. Cutting a large block like that is intimidating at first, but the results are worth the anguish!! Scrap fabrics never looked so good as in an on-point quilt. 😊 Thanks so much for following along! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

What an amazing quilt ! Your so talented and interesting to watch when you put your creation in motion! Can't wait to finish the first of the potato chips quilt that I just finished the top! I did have many many small 2 1/2 squares after and now??? Any ideas?? Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talents!

Easy answer, Joan! Make more quilts!! But think about how you can switch things around. Try sewing your 2.5x4.5-inch rectangles into squares. Then join two pairs together to make longer rectangles. Now you have larger 4.5x8.5-inch PCBs to make a totally different quilt! Plus cut some full size blocks to offset all those smaller pieces. Check out how I used a similar technique to make my latest tropical print 'Verdant' quilt. OMG, I love how it turned out. So many options! Sure appreciate you following along! 'Double L', you have my brain spinning and I can't keep up with you! YES, please show us what adding tumbling potato chip blocks around the quilt would look like. I started cutting focus fabric at 8 1/2" square with 2 1/2 x 4 1/2" bricks and I haven't even started piecing them together yet. My sewing machine is in the shop. NOW I want to make this gorgeous variation❣️ I am INDEED inspired by your videos. So happy that I found your channel.

Thanks for another fun tutorial! I'm really enjoying being with you while exploring so many potato chip options. I do mostly crib size quilts for a local church outreach. Last week I started exploring larger sized potato chips. I made one using 6 1/2"× 12 1/2". Next is one using 3 1/2"× 6 1/2". I agree with you that these potato chips are so much fun!

What is a stay stitch?
@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise
@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise 4 ай бұрын
Stay stitching is a method used to reinforce seams that may be stressed with use, Jeni. It is sewn through a single layer of fabric within the seam allowance so it's not visible on the finished side. I first used it when learning to sew clothing. As a quilter, I've found many ways it can also assist strengthening quilt seams, especially those cut on the bias. For me it's also great for multiple quilting uses. Sure appreciate you watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
