The simplicity of the trigger mechanism is awesome!! No question this is “the way it was”!!!!

I don't like those things because they're too close to firearms for me, which I like even less, but your talent and feel for the wood is absolutely brilliant. Please keep it up

Do you think you could make a bow out of an extremely hard wood, like Australian Buloke, or Ironwood?

That’s a pretty bow! I like the resting profile It has so little brace height do u unstrung it after using it? What’s the length and draw length? I need to make one for my own broken arrow!

Never made one seventy pounds! Made a lot of rising pin (Skane lock bow) and Appalachian (bell crank-slot) trigger types, but convenience and accuracy was the goal, not power. Fifty pounds was always my limit, because I stayed away from metal work, and there are limits to just wood. Even good stout yew.

you should realy make a discord server ^^' , I think many in the community may like that :D

Check out r/bowyer on reddit. There is also a discord I help run but I’m pretty much absent because I found it to be the least efficient platform to teach bowmaking. Discord seems good for chit chat within the community but the average accuracy of the information on the group isn’t something I can vouch for whereas with the reddit group there’s a lot more expertise and the advise is usually solid

I notice that non of your bolts have any notches/nocks. Is there any particular reason for this?
@DanSantanaBows Жыл бұрын
Crossbow bolts are usually flat on the butt. The string is much thicker than a bow string so it would be hard to nock them
@seanhuds7351 Жыл бұрын
@@DanSantanaBows That's really interesting, are all crossbow bolts like this? also, just out of curiosity, is Pine ok for use as the body/frame of a crossbow?
@DanSantanaBows Жыл бұрын
Most I’ve seen are not mocked on the butt. Pine is ok for lightweight crossbows but a hardwood is much better if you want something durable. See my nerf crossbow tutorial for an example with pine

@@DanSantanaBows Thanks man, yeah I was thinking more for a 30/35lb-er crossbow, nothing too heavy or hard hitting, just a simple kind like the sort that would be used to hunt birds back in the medieval times.
