@DKDKTV you did not talk about hybe statement too but they released a statement first before yg On September 29th Hello, this is Big Hit Music. Our company regularly initiates legal proceedings against perpetrators of malicious activities related to BTS, including defamation, personal attacks, sexual harassment, the spread of groundless information, and ill-intentioned criticism. We would like to provide an update on these activities. We have recently filed additional criminal complaints against postings with personal attacks and defamation using new information provided by fans as well as collected through our monitoring initiatives. We have found multiple defamation postings containing false information about the artists on platforms in and outside of Korea. We also have found that a specific poster has been spreading the same ill-intentioned rumor on multiple platforms and filed a criminal complaint against the poster after gathering all of the repetitively uploaded postings. We are currently following our legal response process which monitors and collects evidence on malicious posts for 365 days and then includes them in the complaint. Active reporting of our fans has been a big help to our malicious posting monitoring initiatives. We would also like to share with you that after an extended police investigation, we were able to identify the suspect and the case has been sent to the prosecutor's office. Big Hit regularly collects information on malicious postings regarding BTS, reports them to the authorities, and files criminal complaints. We would like to stress that we will continue to initiate strict measures to ensure that these malicious acts are not repeated, and our policy of no settlement and no leniency remains in effect. We ask that you make continued use of our hotline (protect@bighitmusic.co.kr) to report any cases of abuse. We will continue to work to ensure that the rights of our artists are fully protected. Thank you." Yg on the 3rd of October after blackpink promotion YG Entertainment Announces Strong Legal Action Against The Spread Of BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s Private Photos Oct 3, 2022 by S. Nam YG Entertainment will be filing a complaint against the person who spread private photos of BLACKPINK’s Jennie. Previously, rumors spread that Jennie and BTS’s V were in a relationship after personal photos spread online featuring figures speculated to be the two idols. On October 3, YG Entertainment released a statement announcing that the agency will be taking legal action, responding strongly against acts of defamation and the spread of false information. Read YG Entertainment’s full statement below: This is YG Entertainment. We are revealing that we have officially requested the police to investigate the original distributor of BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s personal photos. YG has been continuously monitoring the relevant content, and we submitted a complaint last September after collecting information. In order to minimize further damage, YG has refrained from commenting [regarding the situation] and expressing our stance. However, the recent mass production of rumors, accusations, personal attacks, sexual harassment, and invasion of privacy sparked by the personal photos have been occurring indiscriminately, so we felt a sense of responsibility, making it difficult for us to overlook this any longer. Therefore, we want to reveal the facts of the legal action, and we want to correct the situation. YG is taking strong legal action against posts that are tarnishing the character and reputation of our agency’s artist. We inform you that we have filed a complaint for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, violation of the prohibition of illegal information distribution, and obscene use of communication media for the actions of repeatedly uploading information that has not been verified to be true and writing excessively malicious posts. We plan on taking all [possible] legal action without any leniency for further harm that occurs afterwards. The photos that have circulated online were revealed illegally regardless of one’s personal intentions. The act of sharing [these personal photos] is not only a secondary offense, but it is also subject to legal punishment. We sincerely ask that you avoid this indiscriminate sharing. YG Entertainment will continue to work hard to protect the rights of the agency’s artist going forward. Thank you. I think all this was a media play Why do they have to wait till their promotion were over And yes all this created more hype They got what th wanted Want to hear what you have to say about big hits statement

To speak to David's point about treating too thin and too overweight equally--while I agree that both are equally bad for your health, the problem lies in the fact that one is often seen as aspirational and desired and one generally isn't. In society people aren't overeating and downing junk food to get that 'cool obese look', but people WILL develop eating disorders and starve themselves to look like an unhealthily thin celebrity. The difference is one look is often praised and rewarded, while the other heavily scrutinized. Therefore people feel more obliged to speak up about one over the other.

I agree with your point that being thin, especially in KPOP, is definitely seen as aspirational. I disagree about whether people looking for a bigger look is not aspirational. In the west, there's a whole industry geared towards women that encourages BBLs and breast augmentation, which can also be harmful to your body. Not as harmful as a chronic ED, but still harmful.
@abbyfrancesparker87382 жыл бұрын
@@minyoongi6039 But that's more praising over- exaggerated curves and impossible body frames rather than severe obesity. I agree it's just as unhealthy to uplift any impossible body standards, but the point I'm trying to make is that publicly scrutinizing a body type that is typically considered socially 'undesirable' is just adding insult to injury more than showing concern, as most people aren't inspired to be that.

I am seeing some debates on whether HYBE or YG put out a statement first about the Jennie V issue (which I believe doesn't matter and don't understand why people would care, other than having underlying 'our company is better' narratives). Anyways to let you know about the *Korean media* side, currently, there are several headlines on the news questioning "why is HYBE staying silent?". Major news outlets are clearly stating that YG put out legal action about the Jennie V incident, but HYBE is not doing anything (Some might think this is because K-media is paid by YG, but facts are, HYBE is way more influential and wealthier, and why would YG want credit for an issue like this. It's not a speed game at this point since the media is already criticizing YG for only speaking up after 5 months). So about HYBE taking action first. There was indeed action taken as HYBE put out a statement earlier that it would take legal action against malicious attempts and defamation towards their artists. Fans fixated on the Jennie V case thought this was about them(which probably would be), but reporters and news outlets saw a vague statement that didn't specify anything about the Jennie V case. Thus, I assume that is why they think HYBE did not take any action yet, since they haven't *specified* anything such as mentioning V or 'dating rumors' in their announcement. In the end, I don't understand why it is important who investigated first or not, and who gets the credit. The collaborative goal here is to protect each of their artists, not race on to get the title 'we protect our artists faster and better' and say 'the other side wasn't doing anything and we did all the work'. Why can't people understand that the two companies respectively have been taking measures with their own legal team at their own pace with their own approaches and methods? I would actually assume that both parties would've gathered together and done a joint investigation on the matter and discuss how they will each cover the case with their own PR methods.

Wonyoung IS naturally on the thinner side, but she’s lost even more weight recently, which is why people are worried. I don’t necessarily disagree with David, but your attitude writes off a lot of what is known about the idol industry. Being naturally skinny is not the norm, okay? Her company may not be enforcing this strict of a diet, but she may very well be enforcing that on herself. If you’re in part known for your looks and body (ex. You calling her the most beautiful idol of this new gen), you’d want to maintain that, no? I don’t think it should be up to us to comment on her weight, but writing off her extreme weight loss as her just being naturally skinny is harmful. Being this thin can be extremely harmful and detrimental to your health. Even if you’re naturally this thin, doctors WILL recommend that you try and gain some weight. Fans say this about every single idol in the industry, and yet you can clearly look at photos of them before debut and see they were not stick thin. Again, being “naturally skinny” is not the norm.

As a mental health care professional who has dealt with eating disorders extensively, I have to say that Wonyoung's appearance is kinda alarming. She does not look "naturally thin;" she looks malnourished. That said, the only way to know "for sure" is a medical examination. My hope is that they have access to a doctor who can check her heart rate (first tell-tale sign of anorexia) as well as her nutrition.

I've been super thin too, I'm 160 and my normal weight used to be a steady 42 kg naturally but for a while in my life when it was stressful I weighed under 40 kg and worry is definitely warranted no matter if it's from stress or eating disorder or poor appetite because when the body has started to eat your muscles it's only a matter of time before it starts to weaken your heart muscle, not to mention that almost all my former eating disorder friends have chronic joint pain from being too skinny when younger. Being too skinny now can catch up to her in her 30s and I hope she can get at least a few kgs on her so that if she gets sick it isn't life threatening.

If you're as busy as she is, there's probably times where you gotta choose between eating or sleeping. Im side eyeing David's sarcasm. Yes, WY is naturally skinny. She's BEEN THIN. Wonyong mentined once that she practiced playing the flute till she got a nosebleed. I think she has an obsesive and perfeccionist type of personality. I worry that she is loosing weight on purpose trying to be the smallest she can be and constantly body checking. She started very young in the entertainment industry and soon became the it girl, but with huge popularity often comes pressure to be worthy of that title.

I think one important point to make when it comes to being underweight: it is extremely dangerous for someone to be consistently underweight, especially girls around Wonyoung's age. like the damage it can cause your organs, bones, joints, hormones, muscle, and your heart... it's unreal. people like to gloss that over and deflect to the side effects of being overweight/obese, but honestly the long-term damage is worse for being underweight. that's why eating disorders are the most deadly mental illness. even if she's not ill in that way, it doesn't negate the damage being done. already the pressure is sooooo intense to be thin (especially for women, especially in Korea) I can't imagine the effect of making this extremely thin girl the It Girl who's known for her looks. even if we want to give her the benefit of the doubt, that she's that thin because of her schedule, she's gonna break down at some point. she's a teenager. she needs to have time to recover and grow, and pushing her as the ultimate visual when she's basically skin and bones is alarming. like, give the girl a break. please.

There is a lot of nuance in the conversation regarding wonyeong and her weight and the desire to be ultra skinny in general. Being naturally skinny because of your metabolism or because you have a very active life style is different than being unhealthy. To me, who grew up a competitive dancer, I know the difference between lifestyle/metabolism skinny and disordered eating skinny. We all have no business diagnosing her but we can express concern for her. Being that thin can have very negative and long lasting affects on one's health like hair loss, loss of period, malnurishment, increased risk of injury and much more.

I'm 200% sure in my *delusional naive* head that the company would not make WY to lose weight in her current or recent state. A human being with eyes knows when it gets *too* skinny. If the company thought that the current state of WY was their wannabe look they would try to pressure that towards the other members as well. But the other members look healthy, right? The industry is indeed well known for its harsh diet plans and beauty standards, but as you can see, even the Korean public and fans are showing concerns about WY's current weight. I don't think the company would be ill-informed about the situation. So that just comes to the logical conclusion that at least the company is not pushing or forcing her on an excessive diet to get infinitely skinnier than she is. I would bet on a personal matter or just extreme labor-driven weight loss. Just wanted to elaborate my thought process. If you think differently, then I respect that too.

They won’t make her loose weight because she simply cannot loose weight. She’s already at a alarming size making her loose more weight would have her passing out (if she already experiencing this it’ll become worse). Plus if they simply tell her “wonyoung loose weight” they’re reliable for her health and im pretty sure the company doesn’t want to get sued or any legal trouble because of that. They mostly tell idols who are naturally chubby to loose weight because they want to have a slim face. I don’t think they’ll tell wonyoung to loose weight they will either force her to eat because they’re getting backlash or they’ll simply ignore the fact she’s very underweight because they like her skinny

There is a difference between being naturally on skinny and unhealthily skinny, Won young right now is very clearly unhealthily skinny. Not only that but the noticeable weight loss in such a small time period is even more worrying
@wendyraye12 жыл бұрын
The weight thing sounded more like a health issue than a looks issue. I know people hate it when people assume that a skinny person is unhealthy and has an eating disorder. Unfortunately, loss of weight is a metric used to help determine this. I think when eating disorders became very well known in the 90s a lot of random information was put out there and there is still a lot of unreliable information out there about it. And there was cause for concern, at least here in the states. The % of people with that small of a bone structure is very small, yet we saw a much larger number of girls, mostly, at those sort of weight levels. Even more concerning, it wasn't always related to the girl wanting to be "skinny" teens have way more stress on them than they should. A young woman like Woyoung is in a very stressful environment and I think people are probably worried she might be overworked, stressed and too busy to take care of herself properly. People love their idols and care about them.

It applies to YG statements too since ppl argued that YG acknowledged ALL leaked pics of Jennie except the V Jennie photos bcus they didn’t mention “couple photos” on their statements. Yg and Hybe both mentioned "posting content not been verified for authenticity (reality) and " defamation post with false information " and a specific poster spreading "SAME ill-intended rumor " on multiple platforms. If you look at Wonyoung when she was in IZONE she wasn't this scarily thin. I don't know if the pressure to continue to look beautiful since she's the new "it" girl and doing so many brand deals. I'm not a lawyer, but my guess is that fake and photoshopped photos could be considered "invasion of privacy" if one or more parts of the photos are real, and were attained through hacking. So if Jennie's photos were hacked, then photoshopped so as to appear she is with V and put out for public consumption, then her privacy was invaded. I don't know about the laws in SK, but in America invasion of privacy law guards the rights of celebrities to be left alone and free to live their life from intrusion by others.

Seeing all of these opinions in the comment section about Wonyoung's weight makes me feel quite sad for her, even though I am not a fan. As a person that has always been on the taller and skinnier side, I've always had to deal with unsolicited opinions and advice regarding my weight, especially from people I barely know or even strangers. I never really cared too much, as I've been quite satisfied with the way I feel or look, but there were moments when I was struggling with my weight and people made me feel even more uncomfortable. For instance, a few years ago I was going through some stuff, both physically and mentally, and I lost a few kg over the course of several months, which was quite visible. I was completely aware of it and I certainly didn't like it, but it was out of my hands. I didn't like the way I looked, bones were prominent, most of my clothes did not fit me anymore, I was worried about my health as well, even though I was not actually sick at the time. I was already extremely self-aware and most of the people I was meeting around that time were adamant to question me about my weight and to tell me stuff like: "Oh, you lost weight", "You should gain some weight", "You look sick/really bad like this", "Your bones are sticking out" etc., as if I didn't know that there was a problem. I couldn't change anything over night, it took me months to gain my weight back and it was not easy, as I need LOTS of food in order to maintain or gain weight. Imagine having to explain your private life and hardships to people that don't know almost anything about them. People's "worries" did not help me in the slightest, on the contrary, they reinforced my frustrations. I obviously don't know the situation she's in, but neither does any of the people that comment online. You never know what a person is going through, so maybe having debates online about a stranger's health condition is not ideal, especially since she might see a lot of them. These celebrities are also people, many things happening in her private life can cause her weight lost, not just company constrains or beauty standards. Whatever the case is, I hope she gets the support she needs from family and friends, because she will definitely not get it from netizens.

The only people who have a big problem with this is shippers and y/n’s and people from the other fandom who’s got some weird obsession with hating on the other group and it’s members. If people weren’t so obsessed with debunking every photo and just ignored it, this wouldn’t be a problem, but no. So we proceed to eat less than we need and our body gets used to it a bit and when we start eating proper calories then we can gain weight at the beginning. I remember when I used to eat 1200 calories. My head always hurt and I slept a lot and sometimes I could barely move. But I didn't feel hungry.

I'm surprised at the flippant attitude towards weight and health in the video. There is no one diet fits all, you should eat according to your body type (health, metabolism, etc) to maintain health. You may test "healthy" now, but in the future, big or small, you are not doing yourself a favor. (This isn't to say naturally skinny or heavier people are unhealthy, but rather more of the extremes. The skinniness depicted is not natural. (Some) idols aren't known for eating for their health, at least leading up to and during promotions. One piece of lettuce a day to make sure you look good on camera isn't healthy)

If the photos that were posted were recognizable from her private account, then yes, it is invasion of privacy - even if they were edited before posting. Both because they were her private photos and because the method by which they were attained would also have grated the hacker access to a lot of other private information. People keep very sensitive information on their phone. This is not limited to photos, but also includes things like work schedules for upcoming events that have not yet been released, private communications with doctors and lawyers, sensitive company communications, banking information...etc. Some people keep their whole lives on their phone and if they had access to the photos, then there is every reason to assume they had access to the rest and took advantage of that access.

I just want to add that I really wish Wonyoung all the best and it is not normal to have your bones looking like that. If a person doesn't eat the calories they need it is difficult for the organs to function and it is difficult to even breathe. She seems happy and energetic, but maybe she gets drips to have energy? It is common for idols. Models very often take drugs to not feel hunger and to keep functioning. I don't judge them because the reality got harsh for them and they had to cope with it somehow. I think someone should help Wonyoung because she can literally die... If I was her mother I would be crying for help and I am really worried about her because this is just so sad.
