Bazzyboss I classify anime and cartoons by the way they entertain rather than the art style. Anime (to me) is an animated work that entertains primarily through drama. And I think that this fits Avatar to a T.

To be fair, 4kids didn't have much of a choice in regards to editing. Yugioh was advertised as a "children's cartoon", so 4kids had to be in compliance with FCC TV censor rules, or it can't be aired (so I heard from one of the voice actors). Funimation, on the other hand, didn't have a TV channel back then I believe, and the dubs were direct-to-DVD, therefore not restricted by FCC TV guidelines.

I just want to go on record and say that Yugioh: Noah's Saga (Or Enter the Shadow Realm, which never made sense to me when I was a kid. Thanks, 4Kids....) was my favorite season of the entire show. Some people may argue that most of it was sort of a filler arc, but creating something this unique that revolves around the Kaibas takes a whole lot of talent. Bravo!

Well, no, the Japanese version is also a dub, it's the japanese dub. Dubbing is the process of recording vocals to match already-drawn lipflaps, which is how basically all animation is done in Japan. It's just that the conventional usage here is to omit the language name in front of 'dub' or 'sub' because it's just assumed we mean English in front of either word.

Well just so long as those franchises are away from 4kids. Not that they did a particularly bad job with them fro what they had, but I wouldve liked to have seen the more mature storylines in shows like one piece and yugioh be brought to light cause the two are pretty different from their Japanese counterparts, especially with dumbing down anything that could be seen as mature or even dark in the original yugioh show which kind of bugged me >.>
