Thank you for a real yin class. You allow us in the poses for the right amount of time. You remind us to direct the breath to the edge of tension. You demonstrate how to use props. You teach us how the body works. You don't add music to distract us. I see that you a holding a poll. So I'd like to suggest a 60 - 75 minute practice that includes all what you feel are the main muscle groups and essential poses to start or end a day. And, thank you for your service. I love your videos, and your approach to yin yoga.

Another wonderful practice! I tore my piriformis running in 2013. At the time was diagnosed with sciatica, as the pain was primarily in the SI joint. It was not until five years later when I saw a neurosurgeon, did I learn it was piriformis syndrome I had. Finally, got the right treatment; however, it remains a nagging issue when I sit or stand for too long. Glad to have happened upon this practice and for your excellent explanation Aprille! 🥰🦋💚

Hello, Aprille. I have been an active athlete ever since I can remember. 2 years ago, I was 25, I decided to take my athletic journey to the next level, I applied for a job for which, in my mind, I was not physically prepared. I am a perfectionist and I pushed my body to the limits everyday for couple of hours. One day I was so tired but I still decided to finish my training and something snapped in my hip area. Boy oh boy! Everyday since then I am learning how to drop the struggle, how to just breathe and be content with being instead of trying to accomplish something and being hoplessly dissatisfied with my performance. You are so soothing. Thank you for helping me on my journey.
@YogaRangerStudio4 жыл бұрын
What an amazing story Maria! As a perfectionist myself, I understand that drive to push yourself further and further and I thank yoga for helping me move into a safer, more kind space myself. I am so glad I can be with you on your journey and I wish you the very best! Thank you! Peace, Aprille

Thank you so much for this wonderful, healing, and informative video. Thank you so much for this April. I am so grateful you made this available. This brought me such relief. I sometimes get sciatica issues after a hard or long run and having to sit for hours afterward. This was the best yin yoga video I have found yet for deep stretching. My cats watched it right along with me:) I also appreciate your explanation of what is going on in Piriformis syndrome as I'm new to this issue (and hope by doing this sequence regularly I can keep the issues at bay). Loved the kitty cats coming and going and your voice as well.

This was very helpful, thank you. I have a love-hate relationship with yin yoga as holding the postures longer when part of my body is experiencing extreme discomfort can be torturous. But eventually I feel a slight loosening and there is definitely a difference when it's finished. I'm having a huge imbalance right where my right hip and glute area are extremely tight and causing low back pain. So I'm doing something therapeutic every day.

Thank you for joining me Carrie! I know just what you mean - some days the holds are so challenging but I always know the end result is so lovely. Have you tried myofascial release? While it is painful during the rolling out, the release is INCREDIBLY effective. Here's a playlist of the ones I offer on my channel: kzbin.info/aero/PLEANtQwT0VrIp_1G7SEYlXifkdUBjJM2D And here's a blended class with myofascial release, Yin Yoga blended with mindful flow and ended with Yin again to really help open the hips/glutes/lower back. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5jZZHaGfZl6jJo Peace, Aprille

You are very welcome. Different people disagree on whether to gently stretch the area while in a flareup or to let it rest. I really say go with your intuition. If it feels better to stretch the area then absolutely continue but if you feel more burning or pain while stretching it - I recommend giving it a little time to heal. Sometimes if you know you are prone to these, it helps to use these poses to keep the area mobile to lessen the discomfort associated. I hope you feel MUCH better soon and thank you for sharing your time with me today. Peace, Aprille

A wonderful class, as always, Aprille. Thank you so much. I find that the lizard pose and pigeon pose both have opposing effects on me. I get so irritated holding a lizard pose for a longer duration (as we do in Yin), I keep trying to relax the muscles but find myself unable to (probably due to years of having practised other forms of Yoga). Pigeon pose, on the other hand, is bliss. Don't feel like getting out of it. Was good to have done it right after the lizard pose in this class. Thanks for everything you do, Aprille!

Thank you Geetha! It's quite interesting how each person experiences poses differently. I no longer have any response to Sleeping Swan (other than this feels fine for me) but perhaps that because I have worked through it for quite awhile. I find myself doing the poses that challenge me emotionally and physically more often to see how I can breathe through it, allow things to arise and move on, and just be with the feelings. For me, that's the greatest aspect of Yin - time to just be. Wishing you a wonderful week and thank you for joining me today - Peace, Aprille

Oh, so helpful my hips! I used the pranayama I learned in Meditation Immersion(4/7/8.) That is what I had been missing from my practice! Thanks for sharing the resources you have- it helps so much!❤️

So nice to hear Nancy and I love that you are using the 4/7/8 breath. It's a great one to use throughout the day to help soothe and calm (I use it every night before bed!). Thank you for joining me and have a wonderful week - see you on Sunday for meditation! Peace, Aprille

Thanks Aprille. Great session. Quick question - if the one of the muscles you are working cramps up during a pose, do you recommend working through it with breathing or releasing?
@YogaRangerStudio5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I always try to take a few breaths to see if it will release but if not then come out and massage it a bit. Sometimes shifting positions slightly can help too. Adjust and see if you can find a position that is cramp free. Have a fabulous week! Peace, Aprille

This was my first class of yours and I did enjoy it! I have been experiencing a lot of tightness/pain in my right hip, and I'm not sure it my piriformis is the issue, but I though it couldn't hurt. I have one question, is there a reason you don't have any background music? I know I could set up my own, but just getting to the mat is a struggle sometimes, and the stark silence was hard in my house full of craziness. Regardless, I have been looking for some more yin practices, since I am running through the videos of another yin youtube practitioner I follow, and I do look forward to doing more of your classes.

Thank you for joining me Gina and welcome to this amazing community! I am so glad you joined me for practice. I choose to not include background music because people's taste in music and the choice to have nor not have is SO very personal. What one person loves, another is irritated by and some people strongly prefer no music. I feel giving everyone the option to choose what works best for them is more open ended and offers more options for everyone. Wishing you the best - Peace, Aprille

Should I hold as long you do? I feel uncomfortable.
@YogaRangerStudio3 жыл бұрын
Yin Yoga is a practice filled with discomfort so if you are feeling emotionally or physically uncomfortable, notice your breath and focus on all of the sensations you are experiencing - physical and emotional. If you feel sharp shooting pain or pain that makes it so you cannot catch your breath, then you should come out of the pose(s) when you feel that. If you are looking for a relaxing, deeply restful practice, I would recommend Restorative Yoga as that is all about deep comfort. Thanks for joining me - Peace, Aprille

I get piriformis before i get pregnant. and now i'm 5 weeks pregnant. what can I do at home?
@YogaRangerStudio5 жыл бұрын
Congratulations! Yosi, you can use simple poses like pigeon|swan|sleeping swan to help relieve discomfort. Even poses like figure 4 on your back while in bed can relieve the discomfort and you can also use tennis balls to apply acupressure to the area. Always discuss these poses with your healthcare practitioner. Checkout my prenatal Yin practice for more ideas to practice during your pregnancy. Thank you for joining me! Peace, Aprille
