You inspired me to start learning Chinese! When I go out to eat at my local Asian Fusion restaurant I have been using the more simple phrases I do know. Connecting culture and language through food is so fun and enjoyable!

That’s awesome!! You’ll see how happy it makes people when you take the time to learn their language at all, they definitely appreciate it!! You’re awesome!! 🙌🙌🙌

@semra485 good on you for learning but doing that is hella awkward if the staff isn’t foreign-born, or worse, not even Chinese lol

@@pinbat6410 The last time I went I asked the guy who served us where he was from and he told me has been in America 10 years but is from China. We had a little chat and it was nice to get to know him a bit more.

You're such a cool and understanding dude! Those kids must love having you as their teacher.

Yeah, they do 😆😆 they always like to make sure I’m still gonna be teaching them the following semester 😂🙏

I would never giveaway the fact I knew Chinese if I was you; I would listen to gossip and observe all year, then on the last day or week only talk in Chinese so it hits them that you do understand and it wasn't just a rehearsed farewell.😂😂 Also chocolate teacher is so adorable at this point it is your smell! you tell us "Y'all look good today" well, you smell good today! 😅💕

I love these stories about the funny things children say, thinking you smell like chocolate and asking if you are chinese. Its so innocent and sweet. Love it. More funny things children say please 😂😂😂

Love these short videos. Kids have zero filter and as you say they're not trying to offend. I remember being in a queue for a taxi at Chengdu station in 2015 and was talking to the parents of a Chinese 3 year old. I was literally the only white person this kid had ever seen and I'm 6 ft 3 and broad so the kid was just like wide eyed and open mouthed. I can only imagine the reaction to a black guy in Shenzhen as there are definitely less people of colour there than white expats/tourists.
@YinkaAbroad11 күн бұрын
Yeah, I try to hold off on reacting when I see children react to me, most of the time I want to burst out laughing 🤣🤣 they’ll be in the middle of playing, and as soon as they see me, their whole world just pauses, and they just watch me walk

Nice video, and it's good that you can do it from the comfort of your home. Do you cook? Maybe one day you can make a video of a meal (that's one of your favorites) and show us what you made! I don't mean a meal that you prepare on camera but one that you made and show us after it's done! 🌽🍅🍞🥞🍤👨🍳 Just an idea.
@YinkaAbroad11 күн бұрын
Yeah, I cook the majority of the time, and generally it’s nothing special, I mainly eat in order to hit a certain amount of calories and macros. I’ve showed a few shorts and videos about some things that I make, but I can do more in future for sure! 👌

Do your students know you have a KZbin channel? Also is there access to KZbin in China? Because based on what I remember I never saw such thing as KZbin when I was living in China as a child or even seen the KZbin logo before…
