That bit about nosebleeds was spot on. When my husband got one, he'd howl about how it was "uncontrollable". I looked down my own nose at him and told him I pitied him and all men because they wouldn't survive three consecutive menstrual periods.

Three periods, hell-they wouldn’t even make it through ONE!!!! I had some idiot at the firehouse ask me if our cramps were really that bad and I told him “Try to imagine having the pain of being whacked in the nuts every several minutes for days at a time, only located in your ABDOMEN!” That’s the best way I can sum it up, and it gets the point across.

@ I just saw your video and now your saying: for many it’s really not to bad? Are you kidding me? You really have no clue. As to how bad it really was…. at least for me. That Evil Witch Aunt Flo. Arrived at my doorstep when I was only 11 years old and seemed like she had a death wish for me. My cycles were nothing but shear HELL! From having 2-3 periods a month, heavy bleeding that caused accidents on my bed and ruining clothes. To pain that was so severe I would be puking my guts out and or fainting from it all! I was given shots for awhile to stop it from happening. Then I was diagnosed with Dismenorrea (spelled wrong I know) and still no relief. My Mom and I tried everything we could. To stop it from being so bad. No thanks to doctors at that time too. But then around 2003 I find out I had a Tumor on my Ovaries and had to have a Hysterectomy. Which ended any chance for my having any babies! Which was just as well I guess. Especially considering that I was being verbally and physically abused by my Rage (Alcoholic) A-Holic B****rdly father daily. So when you say for some. It really not to bad. I’d say your so very wrong and you should’ve done your research better. Instead of focusing on chocolate. Because I’m not the only one who had similar experiences like mine. Oh and as for chocolate…. it doesn’t make it any better either!

I saw this jerk at the local mall once wearing a shirt that said “Never trust anything that bleeds for five days and doesn’t die!” Being of a mood to be obnoxious (PMS maybe? Or it could be the shirt simply pissed me off.), I told him “Just for the record, I wouldn’t trust anything that thinks with the same body part it takes a leak with!” Fortunately he laughed, because I was bracing for him to take offense.

Yes, men do have hormone cycles but woman's cycle is more hormonal, and our bodies go through more drastic changes during our lives than a man does. @@dianeericson7900 Yes, this video is something knowledgable male feminists like me can share, but I've not really had success trying to persuade sexist guys to have ethical epiphanies. It seems they need to come to their ethical realizations on their own. The statement portion by Jills I asked about was saying all of the young men out there need to hear this. How do I personally need to hear this when I always believed this kind of thing about respect for females all my life? I continue to promote feminism even though it has led to my being fired in illegal retaliation, insulted and other backlashes in my life. My goals include to help make women and anyone else good, become happier people. But also I need to find more personal happiness, and this video makes me feel sad as it reminds me of how much disrespect for women is still out there. I feel sad enough as an avid newspapers reader. That's what I meant by writing I don't personally need to hear the audio of this video. Do you understand now? Have a nice day and stay safe.

Shirley, you're a super'hero minus cape and mask. I was laughing so hard that I forgot for a minute my own current cramping. Just wondering why you failed to mention nausea and the occasional pucking, is it just me? Anyway, thank you sooo much for your hard work. How long does it take you from conception to finish? Relyrics/music background/singing recording, several times according to the number of harmonizing parts/costumes preps/choregraphy/video recording, several times over according on how many characters you play, involving several takes and retakes I assume/then the final editing of the end video... What a colossal job and you seem so at ease at every level. Please know that all your work is greatly appreciated in all senses of the word: both acknowledged and valued. A great big fat THANK YOU, and keep up the good work. Blessings.

Thank you so much, Tilly G. Sorry to hear about the nausea and puking - sounds horrible. My dealing with everything else has been bad enough, without those extras thrown in! As for time taken for the songs, it's a good while! I had this one written about a month ago, and originally planned to have others dance for it. But I think the subject matter scared them off! All up, writing takes a few hours over a number of days for revisits. Recording is usually done in one session - also a few hours. Then the video takes forever. Not so much the filming but the making it work on limited technology. One day I'll buy a laptop with more memory, which might help a bit! But I do it because I love it, and getting comments like yours makes it worthwhile - so thank you.

Dear Shirley, after discovering the joy of the Depo-Provera jab in my 20's once every three months, this video did not apply to me at all. I didn't even experience the topic of another of your videos, menopause. I'm sure others will be seething reading this but I never kept it a secret. I can only say how grateful I'm am for those whom recommended this marvelous solution! Kris.😊🇦🇺

I also had Depo for a few years because my periods were debilitating. I'm now on something else and incredibly grateful for it.

I was on Depo for a year after my older daughter was born. No periods was great-gaining 35 pounds in one year, not so much! After my younger daughter was born, the hospital people tried to push that one me again even though I was gonna get my tubes tied later, and I told them to shove it because I didn’t want to gain that weight again. They said weight gain is a relatively normal side effect. I shot back “Five or six pounds is weight gain. 35 pounds, you might as well tie a bunch of ropes to me and fly me in the Macy’s parade!” 14 years later, I’m STILL fighting that flab…AAARGH!!!!

Carl Jung said that if employers wanted women to more productive, they had the right to plan their work schedules around their menstrual cycles. Like any great idea that does not fit the status quo, this is little known and even less considered or implemented.

I do. Better, I HAVE to. Working from home has its benefits, and this is undoubtedly one of them. Every day I do a little bit of extra work so that I can spend the usual three days of Passion away from my desk, computer and dictionaries (I'm a translator). My productivity drops to subzero levels on my periods and it's already difficult to think in my own language, let alone dealing with foreign languages.

I thought that things will change for the better after I gave birth six years ago, but it's still status quo six years later. I feel one of the most persecuted persons on earth during my menses. I was just actually praying for my menses to come early bec. I am due to be vaccinated this coming week. Besides the most painful of cramps on the hypogastrium, I also experience fever, migraine, aches, sleepiness, and severe irritability and mood swings during menses. Anyway, this made me smile. The song may seem light-hearted but it is actually very enlightening and edifying esp. to those unacquainted. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talents with us, Ms. Serban. All the best.
