"The organization has been criticized for its conduct during sting operations and has been accused of exaggerating claims regarding its work. Former staffers at O.U.R. have stated that the group is rarely involved in actual rescues, and the claims of rescues have misled donors and the public about what the group does. The group's founder, Tim Ballard, was the subject of an internal investigation in 2023 after multiple former employees accused him of 'sexual harassment, spiritual manipulation, grooming, and sexual misconduct.' Ballard resigned as CEO as a result of the investigation. Weeks later, the organization was named in a lawsuit filed by two married plaintiffs who accused Tim Ballard of sexual assault and grooming". Alright, I don’t like the movie (in concept, haven’t seen it), but I don’t think the empty seats thing is accurate. Maybe in some areas, but as someone working at a theater, I can tell you our Sound of Freedom screenings were packed. People definitely showed up for it. The Pay It Forward system did not affect the Box Office results. What it did was essentially put the money all in a big pile, and at any time, someone could go into the website and order a ticket through there while taking money out of the pile. However, that kinda makes the grifting even more ludicrous, since on-top of the money people were already spending actually watching the movie, there’s the giant money pit that they have no obligation to actually put towards tickets. And I doubt too many people used it since they had to give them money to stop child trafficking. So on-top of the almost $200 million it made, it raked in probably millions more from donations, none of which has to get split with any theaters. That’s all pure profit. This was all a giant grift and it worked out spectacularly.

Like, if we're being at all charitable and not just treating him as a money grubber, he's basically using people's emotional response to the idea of child trafficking to attract the kind of guy who thinks that the best way to tackle child trafficking is to think "What Would Steven Seagal Do?" If the kind of straight-to-DVD action hero bullshit that he and his cadre of marketing execs want to engage in actually helped with child trafficking, I don't think child trafficking would be a problem. Should also be noted that the Sound of Freedom fans are not only the same people which also tend to watch child-rape-apologist & 16-to-17-old-girls-should-be-married-and-pregnant Matt Walsh, but also vote on pro-child-marriage Republicans to the degree that there is US states with NO minimum age to get married, which yes, is just selling/giving kids to dangerous people.

I work at one of the giant American theater chains and trust me, there were way more people going to see it than we had denouncing it (zero of course). Hard to believe there was a 'big push' to ban it or anything like that. We tend to have rushes of usually elderly guests when a new faith-based or conservative grift movie comes out, and this one was definitely the most popular one I've experienced, at least having worked there for about a year (came out on the 4th of July too of course, obligatory 'murica). We almost always have one, and just in case you're interested, the current one is the season 4 episodes 1-3 of the bible show that's probably streaming right now called the chosen. The studio for Sound of Freedom didn't send us a poster, likely to save money I guess, but that only made people ask me, a part-timer, why there wasn't a poster outside and passive-aggressively insinuating that we were trying to silence this movie that had most of our business for 2 months. Also, our AC system is whack as hell (old building) and the guests would sometimes show us articles from conspiracy sites that theaters were sabotaging the movie by cranking up/down the heat to make it impossible to watch, as if we wouldn't just simply not show the movie if that's what we were trying to do. I had to nod and smile to many elderly folks yammering on to me about how it was such an important film that more people need to see. Messy theaters left as well, they're not a very considerate crowd, those qanon-adjacent fellows. When this movie was popular at our theater, it was the time that my fellow employees were the most nervous/scared to deal with customers and clean up after them. Anyways rant over, long story short, part-timing in America still sucks even if it's a film related job.

Critical drinker siding with Ben Shapiro and Russell Brand kinda confirms he is a conservative.

You are unironically doing a kind of "you know who else drank water, Hitler!" argument. I don't know about Russell but he has being against and even made fun Ben Shapiro's takes on media before, so where does that leave him?

@@R0CKDRIG0 He makes videos with them, agreeing with almost all their takes on the subject ''politics in movies''. Besides, come on, he sides with the Fandom Menace and people like Nerdrotic, and he talks about politics ALL THE TIME. People like that have a certain agenda. Only those inside the rabbit hole are not able to see it.

@@R0CKDRIG0 Russell Brand seems to be a left-wing populist with economically socialist views. Despite that, though, because of his populist views, he has aligned himself with right-wing populists. Also, many right-wingers have criticized Ben Shapiro. Hell, some of them have criticized Donald Trump. That doesn’t make them any less right-wing.

So Adam going on Vaush’s channel means he’s a…. He also went on Idubbbz channel a couple days ago. And I hate to break it too you but they are putting politics into movies. And when people say that they mean in movies they shouldn’t be. Like big budget movies. Movies that shouldn’t be overtly political. Not to mention DEI and ESG. As well as Oscar diversity requirements.

Tim Ballard was BIG in the Mormon Church, real chummy with the high-up people, and they in turn promoted OUR and his work. Since he's been outed as someone who does SA on his own female coworkers, the Mormon Church has excommunicated him and scrubbed all mention of him and OUR on their web presences. He was about to announce his candidacy for Mitt Romney's old Senate seat, when people came forward with all sorts of skeevy things about him and lots of receipts. Also, isn't the most common type of S. Trafficking for kids in the U.S. when a Queer kid gets kicked out of their home and falls victim to it themselves? Not "illegals" trafficking precious suburban white children, but all those well-to-do conservative parents blowing a gasket when they find out their child uses they/them pronouns, and then shoving them out the door.

They actually called him out in a public statement after he tried to imply he was related to a church higher up (he’s not and the official seemed all too happy to tell him to stay away) in the lead up to his failed campaign

Idk how I’m supposed to take a political movement remotely seriously when their politics come down to buying content to consume. People are deluded

I had no idea the clip of caviezal talking about adrenohcrome was from the press tour for the actual movie, I thought somebody dug that out of his past and maybe he was reformed now. This was actually some straight up, overt QAnon shit I'm crying. Makes the entire saga 100x funnier in retrospect

Also, Caviezel references DUMBS (a Q-Anon acronym for “Deep Underground Military Bases”). This crazy conspiracy theory revolves around the idea that there is a parallel underground civilization of military bases that spans around the world with advanced technology and where alleged atrocities are taking place (trafficking rings, human experimentation, sacrifices, etc.). It almost resembles the plot for Jordan Peele’s “Us”, but without the doppelgängers. I wish I was making this up.
