This was great! I have been using YNAB since October and I have watched some other videos about credit cards, but I didn't know that you could set a target and I have never really understood how to "budget" for credit card payments. I usually only pay the statement balance so I would only budget the statement balance, but then I quickly realized that even though I do not pay interest, I couldn't really pay off my credit card in full because I didn't have the full amount set aside. But now I get it! And now I know that I can set a target. Great video! I love YNAB!!! It is the best app out there by far!

YNAB click so much better for me than mint. It’s digital envelope stuffing. And I like that you have to manually assign categories rather than the overwhelming mess mint did.

Excellent video on budgeting CCs with YNAB! I stopped using YNAB 3 years ago because it wasn't working for me. But I returned to YNAB a couple mos ago (now that the features have improved). But budgeting my CCs in YNAB was still a tad confusing. Your video helped me out tremendously! NOW I get it! Lol. Thank you!

OMG thank you! I actually don't grocery shop in person. I've been doing Walmart pickup the last 2 years and couldn't be happier. They use the same prices as in store, plus if they are out of something, they'll upgrade you free of charge if they have a replacement (we often get larger sizes of products, name brand instead of offbrand etc for the same price)!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been trying to figure this out for the past month and just kept getting confused. I was setting my monthly CC goals (now targets) to align with my required monthly CC payments but then the interest would get added and YNAB would make me allocate more money than what was needed for my monthly payment. But now I understand that the goal you set is EXTRA money you want to go towards your payment in addition to the interest that gets added monthly. I've watched a bunch of videos but none explained it the way you did. Thanks for taking the time to share with us!

So Felisha. I'm still a bit lost with this. Why not set my minimum payment rather than the interest? Becasue the minimum payment is higher so if I just pay the interest, doesn't that mean I not paying my minimum and making me delinquent?

I am using the Snowball Method to pay off my credit card debt, which means that I will only be able to pay off the minimum for the rest of my cards. How do I work with this on YNAB? I am confused because minimum payments include both interest payment and payment on debt. How do I account for the payment on debt principal that is included in a minimum payment?

If you have the accounts linked, how does that manual moving of funds in ynab affect the balances once the bank activity comes over? will you have duplicate transactions🤔

If you entered the transactions in YNAB manually, it will be linked when the transactions are imported from the credit card bank. YNAB will match them up for you. No extra balance or payments are duplicated.

Linking can definitely make it easier, especially if you're not in the habit of tracking your expenses when they happen! I usually default to unlinked for these videos since some CC and banks don't let YNAB link to them!
