I hurt my back yesterday and I’ve been in pain since. I tried ibuprofen, a heating pad and some bio freeze and nothing really helped. I used to practice yoga about 3 years ago but I moved somewhere that is hard to find a good class. I thought I would try to find a yoga video for back pain and try it today. I came across you and did two of your videos. The pain is almost all gone now. 🙌🏻. I’m glad I found you here. I can’t wait to do other videos of yours. 💜

I have struggled with back pain for almost a year. I have tried physical therapy, massages, and other types of pain relief. They have all helped just a tiny bit. I was told by a doctor I was just going to have to manage my pain. That was unacceptable to me. After reading in a couple of different places that yoga helps with back pain I started doing this video. I did it four times a week for six weeks and my back pain is completely gone! It has changed my life! A lot of the poses that I couldn't do the first time I did the video, I can do them all now! I am so thankful to you, Adriene! I am going to start on your other videos now.

Today marks a week since I began practicing YWA for low back pain and hip rotation. I made a 31 day playlist of all the low back and body yoga videos she has made so I can practice for a month. Yesterday, for the first time since 1 year and a half of chiropractic and rehab work, the crook in my lumbar FINALLY got unstuck! It's only been a day, but I can notice all the pain-free ways I've been able to twist and turn in my everyday movements where they used to be uncomfortable! Thank you YWA! I will definitely continue the work through my playlist

Hi Adriene! I recently found my way to your channel. I haven't done much yoga before, so this is all foreign to me. But I'm just coming out of a very chaotic environment. I just stopped teaching in a third grade classroom; the dynamics that were going on were causing me to continue to get sick. It felt like a war zone in there; the amount of behaviors that were going on in the classroom made it very difficult to teach at all. I had students coming up to me saying they didn't feel safe; but I was doing all that I could: calling parents, writing kids up, and coming out with various rewards systems for positive behavior both individually and classwide. But still the behaviors continued on without any resolve. It kept intensifying. It got to the point where every day I went in I was experiencing health effects. I made the difficult decision to step away from the classroom to focus on my health. All of that to say, I have been working on restoring trust with my body. I was so shut off to how stressed I was that it took my body stiff-arrming me (through nausea and intense sickness) to make me stop. I feel like I am trying to come out of an addiction to overstimulation and trauma. I am wanting to put my health first. I recently got both a fitness trainer and a nutritionist. In addition to those things, I want to get in touch with my breathing and movement exercises that help me focus on what is actually going on inside of me. "Is there pain present? Does that stretch feel good? Do I need to do the less intense version? Do I need to skip that movement altogether?" These are questions that you or anyone else can't answer for me. Only I can. I have to look inward and ask myself what is going on and then make the appropriate adjustments necessary. Lastly, there are a lot of different yoga coaches out there and a plethora of yoga videos and I have been looking at many of them. However, I am drawn to your videos for a few reasons: (1) the presence that you carry. There is this deep sense of peace and safety that emanates from you. From the tone of your voice to the different ways to modify the movements, I felt like I (a yoga novice) can fully trust your instruction. (2) Your explicit instruction to get in touch with what is going on inside of our bodies. To stop if it hurts, to do a more advanced move if we can't feel the stretch. I feel like the explicit instruction you give is helping me to restore the trust with my body: that I feel and "hear" what it is communicating and I will make the appropriate modifications that I need to. (3) the overall peace that I experience. Again, this may go back to the presence thing. But I've watched videos where it is all about the moves or the breathing and to me it feels forced. But when I watch your videos I feel like I can fully relax and focus on the breathing and the movements. I realize this was a long comment, but I wanted to say that I'm glad to be a part of this huge community (ALMOST 11 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS!!!) and I look forward to explore the many other videos that you have put out. Thanks for who you are and what you do, Adriene!

After finishing my book I woke up this morning feeling like a bus ran me over. I watched this video a million times before but this morning I did it with intention. I focused on my breathing more than ever before, so much so that I attempted meditation after my yoga for the first time in years. Not only was ALL of my back pain relieved but I've never felt so at peace before. I literally was having an outer body experience. Thank you Adriene!!

I'm doing these back pain videos for a while now and it does help. I had my back broken 3 years ago and from time to time I'm having difficulties getting up from the bed because of all that pain. After doing these "excercises" for couple of weeks I allways feel like a new person. But for everyone who has serious back problem I don't recommend those "rock your body" getting up or down, cus it brings a lot of stress to the spine. Rather than that, allways get to left on right side of your body and get up with a help of your hands pushing your back up.

Adriene, thank you so much for this fantastic video! It relieved my back pain. Being tall, obese, and having COVID-19 with weakened muscles gave me awful lower back pain that made it hard to get up out of bed in the mornings. I was having all these painful muscle spasms and cramps in my lower back and legs. I tried everything I could think of- hot bath with epsom salt, went to get a few massages, Advil, walking... all of which sort of helped a little, but the pain came right back. The last night I recalled this video, did it, and instantly there was a big difference in reduced pain, not just right after doing the program but also the next morning! I could get up out of bed with more ease! Thank you!!!!

In the middle of the practice, I heard a pop. And that was it. I am still sore, but I can function now until my body heals. Thank you. thank you. Yoga done right is a chiropractic adjustment from within.

I found Yoga with Adriene several months ago after moving and needing a yoga for back pain video. It's moving day again (this one is more permanent) and I decided to do this video before I start loading my car. Thanks Adriene! See you later for Yoga for Travel (you've seriously thought of everything)! Namaste everyone:)

I'm 21 and really horribly pulled my back over a year ago now. It took months to heal and is still tight from time to time. I've been so afraid that my lack of work with it will cause the pain to come back again. All that to say, this exercise is restorative!! I feel so so much better than when I started. 8 years after this video was posted and it still is here for people who need it. Thank you

I work with children and in order to motivate and entertain them I gotta do a lot of crazy dance moves and jumping around at work. My back and my whole body in general was killing me. Woke up and practiced this sequence. I am good to go again. Thanks a ton Adriene. I don't t know what I would do without you. Lots of love from India. I hope you're enjoying your new home :)

Thank you!! At the end when you wished me a back pain free life I just started to cry, and my body let go of something. Yoga does that sometimes, often, but this time it wasn't just the yoga. It was you too. Thank you for sharing your energy, love, and liveliness. It's healing.

Idk why yoga is so unspoken in bodybuilding forums. The main focus is on building big muscles, but not on these things that can help you not get injuries. When I first started weight lifting I got an injury after a year in my shoulder so I had to stop. Now I started again after 2 years break, everything was going perfect for 2 months and then I got something with my back, my form is good when I weight lift, problem is that the majority of my time outside the gym I sit at a computer. After I got the back problem I started doing yoga and it helped already after 3 days. Now I do yoga both before and after work out and I have no problems whatsoever.

when i lifted heavy, weightlifting was my yoga. i used to have upper & lower back pain after my lifts. once i started focusing on my form, i slowly became much more flexible and rarely had back pain. respect the weight, improve your form and it will give back to you.

Same, it’s almost meditation at the same time. I am still new to yoga. This is one video I actually find myself going into that instantly has me breathing and realizing what yoga is all about. Usually I am still too worried about following and I don’t get as much zen as with this vid! 😅

9 years old video, but one I always keep going back to. I love these gentle, slow, guiding videos that make you slow down and treat you as a complete beginner. I've been doing YWA for 3 years now but I find that there's always something new to learn and pay attention to when it comes to even the simplest positions. Thank you Adriene and the team, for all that you do!

This video and the other lower back pain video has been a life saver for me! I fell off a ladder and landed right on my butt (left hip) and have had pain now for more than two years! these videos have really helped me stretch out my lower back and it honestly just feels so good! I never thought I would be able to do even a few of the moves and I must say that the buttock massage is my favorite!! I even completed the 30 days of Yoga and now on to maybe the Yoga Camp...I have had to go back to the lower back pain videos multiple times but it's worth it! Pain free and loving it!!

I'm so glad you have found help for your back pain. I came here because after being a couch potato for 4 yrs, I hurt my back doing emergency clean up for my mom, when a tree fell on her house. Then trying to remove the carpet at my house, pulled a muscle in my back. I have high hopes that this routine will also help me after reading your post.

Hello Adriene, first I wanted to thank you for all those wonderful videos, you are a real joy to follow. Recently I started to fight a bad addiction and the 30 days series really helped me to keep focus during all those weeks! Now I can do my own routine, but I keep watching your videos to learn new postures and listening to you is very calming! But what I really wanted to say, I finished the 30 days 2 days ago and I took a small break. Today my back was sore all day long and I kept telling me that it would be alright, that I was sure i would find a video you already posted made specifically for the back pain. I go on the channel and I saw you posted this today, this is amazing, what a coincidence! This must be karma at work again! Anyway thanks for everything and keep up the good work! Namaste!

I'm so glad I found your channel. After 34 years of martial arts training which I cannot do right now. After a surgery and many injuries I've been looking for an exercise that doesn't just spasm me out more. I've had chronic back and neck pain for 17 years that causes chronic sleep problems and more. Most of the other "beginner courses", I don't have the core strength anymore to do, this is perfect for me to start my rehab. I love that you also talk about the "stretch in the feet" and how the tensegrity of the body and how it connects from head to toes, we used to say "one thing moves, all things "move" or "adjust". Thank you and where ever you are, your new room looks great, a very nice space, clean and bright.

You know what’s crazy 3 years ago I used to be in a confusing relationship with this girl at my university she always used to talk about this channel and yoga itself never gave it a thought coming back to the present I work a manual labour job over summer we don’t talk anymore (and it still hurts me everyday) but my lower back was killing which lead me to finding this channel again after 3 years and these yoga videos have saved me “Yoga with Adriene” saved me, my pain is a fraction of what it used to be, it’s crazy how life works sometimes Thank You🙏🏽
