With Aura Edition available for the same price I'll better get Lunar Lake
@bellamartinez2788
@bellamartinez2788 Ай бұрын
@JustJoshTech the issue with the HP truly is it's display. Not only is it not OLED, but it is also only 60hz compared to the Lenovo. Also, to the previous reply, I had the Aura Edition and the issue with that laptop was the processor not being multi threaded leading me to return that laptop and look for an AMD processor with at least 120hz display so that I can use it for light gaming. This Lenovo Josh showed off in this video basically ticks all the boxes except, I really wish it has wifi BE (wifi 7) as I just got a Wi-Fi 7 router for Christmas, but this is something I can live with. 60hz display is something I cannot and why the HP is close, but a miss for me.
@Shizostereo

@bellamartinez2788 was that a hardware bug with Aura? It's supposed to be multi threaded isn't it? AMD is famous for their multi threadin capabilities though. Lunar Lake attracts me with their energy efficiency

Thanks for the review. FYI, the OLED screen door effect occurs due to a touch layer, so non-touch OLED screens do not exhibit the screen door effect.

@@22Tech Indeed. However, I believe this should become a non-issue soon as screens continue to improve. For example, Samsung's 2.8K OLED touchscreens on the Galaxy Book3 and Book4 series show almost no screen door effect, and the 4K OLED touchscreen on the Asus ProArt P16 has a barely noticeable screen door effect as well.

I have the previous generation of this laptop with the 5800U. After almost 3 years I had it die with a power supply that failed during a hurricane while I was on generator power. It fried the motherboard. Lenovo ended up replacing the motherboard for only the $140 warranty fee. Really good on them and its great to see them stand by their products. My biggest gripe about the new version is that it isn't as small and light as my Lenovo Ideapad Slim 7 Carbon. My laptop is only 2.2lb while having everything but the Yoga hinge.

IPS panels in 2024 are now excellent and anyone claiming they are vastly inferior probably have not tried the ones on the XPS 13 or Surface Laptop 7. I prefer IPS as I use mine for office work and browsing so it is kinder to my eyes with a white background. As these are ultrabooks then IPS are the best choice IMHO. If you are buying to watch media then OLED may slightly be better. OLED is the choice for gaming, but these ultrabooks are not really for gaming. Wait for Arrow Lake.

I think it is important to point out in those videos, when talking about SSD upgradeability, that some Lenovo laptops like this are coming with a 2242 form factor for the SSD, which limits *considerably* the model/capacity choices and availability for replacement. If Storage (SSDs) are important to you, some Lenovo laptops might be a non-starter exactly because of the 2242 SSDs - sure, you can replace it, but the choices are so little and so poor and so expensive that it might not be worth it.

@ thank you so much! I wonder why not many reviewers point that out?! The integrated GPUs are good enough on these new chips that it seems like a no brainer to leave it off unless you absolutely need it!
@Jimster481

@@kylehessling2679 Maybe because it is a bit of the pain in the neck to actually disable. You have to reboot the computer and go into BIOS. Otherwise just turning it off in Windows doesn't usually make the battery life way better. Does depend on the machine though. I have a Acer Nitro that can get 9hrs of battery life if I just turn off the dGPU in windows...

That battery life completely kills this laptop. The Yoga Pro 7 (14APH8) I have, with a 7840HS and a RTX 4050 offers similar battery life and a dedicated GPU! I wonder how it would fare with an IPS display and sensible power settings.

When you guys are reviewing products do you ever take into account brand reliability. I hear practically nothing but good things from Lenovo but in this video you compare it to a similar HP product. I hear good things from them too but then sometimes it's followed by a horror story of a laptop suddenly taking a crap on them.

lower performance when unplugged and low battery life. Why buy a laptop like this if you need a charger with you at all times? Either go all in to a behemoth of a laptop with a high watt gpu and a beast of a CPU, or get an ARM64 laptop.

Having used MacBooks for years, I can’t fathom going back to these mediocre trackpads. We see them on Lenovo and Samsung laptops. They are awful. The Dell XPS and Surface Laptop 7 ones show it can be done on Windows, but I suppose they are more premium. So this would not even be on my shortlist of Windows ultrabooks. I would, for my use case, office work, choose either Intel or Snapdragon as both of these are subject to heavy discounts and are fast and snappy at web research and office duties.

Loud or semi loud fan noise even for almost light loading? Neeeext!! One of the reasons why mac is still behind by much is just that. Been able to use 20w average or even low in the air lineup makes apple silicone be ahead by 2-3 years right now. Intel did the best decision to lower the TDP of Lunar lake. I guess next battle will be that, lower the TDP in x86 to be on pair with ARM. For 95% of the users it is sooo much easy to use a macbook air over any Acer swift, yoga 7 or HP envy.

AMD laptops are just so bad at the battery life department. At the same price, most people that use productivity softwares should get Intel. They are getting superior ST and battery life.

I don't find macbook trackpad that much better tbh. Yeah, it's good, but then I go back to my lenovo yoga 14 and feel 0 discomfort. And I'm using the trackpad and gestures all the time. Feels like people just blowing this out of proportion. The difference is not that significant anymore.
