Self Adjustments
One of the most effective methods for embodying your yoga postures is through self-adjustment.
By touching various joints, muscles, and body landmarks, you awaken your proprioceptive sense. "Proprioception" refers to our body awareness in space - imagine navigating your house in the dark and sensing the walls and doorways around you. In yoga, we learn to sense these various body parts in space. Often, we find ourselves bent sideways or upside down, which enhances our proprioceptive "strength," but also increases the challenge.
By mastering self-adjustment in postures, you can enhance your alignment, stability, and most importantly, your embodiment in the position.
In this video, I demonstrate self-adjustments for the triangle pose:
1. Hip Joint Adjustment
2. Rib Cage Adjustment
3. Head Adjustment
4. Arm/Shoulder Adjustment
