Excerpt: "And so what must be achieved is the replacement of thought by Divine Love. This is the essential first step of yoga. If we are going to reach God, we must replace the chattering and imaginary tendencies of the consciousness to avoid its own essence, because it does not realize that that essence is Love."

ABOUT SHUNYAMURTI: Shunyamurti’s life-long quest for truth and the power of healing our souls and our world has brought about a deep understanding of the dynamics of the traumatized ego, the karmic trajectory and wounds of the soul, and the radiant healing power of the Supreme Real that is the One Self. He has learned how to work on all levels simultaneously to help sustain the ecstasy of Self-realization. Many years of meditation practice and training in numerous forms of yoga, including apprenticeship with Baba Hari Dass, ten years of vowed association with a Brahmachari ashram in India, a special resonance with Sri Ramana Maharshi and a deep study of Advaita and esoteric Shaivism and Buddhism, have been supplemented by the intensive study of western metaphysics, modern sciences, profound exploration of the dimensions opened by entheogens, trans-personal psychology, various forms of psychoanalysis and Jungian dreamwork, and the entire development of the perennial philosophy, including Taoism, Kabbalah, and mystical Christianity. Shunyamurti now functions as spiritual guide, retreat leader, and teacher of the Sat Yoga Ashram and Community, in addition to his ongoing advanced research in the Yogic sciences.

[To All Who Listen to Shunyamurti’s Teachings: Thank you all for your serious consideration of these ideas, which are intended to help you live a more coherent, peaceful, creative, compassionate, and productive life, and to be of service to the welfare of our world. We understand that our approach to existential concerns is not for everyone. We honor your right to disagree with these ideas and to stop listening if you do not like them. We gladly post comments with disagreements, if they are stated in a positive and mature manner, that allows civilized discourse about your own contrary ideas, and which may spark further useful and profound thought about the important issues that the teachings raise. If there are sincere questions about the teachings, or misunderstandings that can be clarified, Shunyamurti is always ready and willing to respond with helpful elaborations and even to cite texts and other authors whose writings may be of assistance to serious seekers. But comments that are simply angry and insulting, immature and unreasonable, will be removed because they undermine the educational and inspirational purpose of this project. Those who have questions that are more personal should write us in a private email and one of the teachers in our wisdom school will respond in the same way, or if the question is a very subtle or difficult one and requires a response from Shunyamurti, we will forward it to him on your behalf, and when he can, he will respond personally. By the way, we want to clarify that these teachings are new, they are not simply a repetition of old traditional teachings, but integrate current thought in the sciences, psychology, cultural studies, and philosophy. Shunyamurti speaks from his own realizations and deep clinical experience as a healer.]

I have waited so long to hear words like this. The "soul" of your language is like my native tongue that I have forgotten, that I am now hearing for the first time again. Your words ride on the spirit underneath and I can hear its cadence. "Truth and Love", "truth and love". Much appreciation, and feelings of gratefulness , of being blessed, receiving your light , where wrapped in your wisdom, when we unpack it what is revealed is love. Love and THIS! Thank you!

We haven't had a social culture since the eighties. The modern zeitgeist is one of a "Karaoke ego".
@brandogrando8152
@brandogrando8152 5 жыл бұрын
Sure we have, and have, a social culture. The current culture is one of short-term pleasure and materialism, for the most part. But there seems to be a shift happening, of adopting long-term strategies for holding onto those pleasures, on an individual basis. This is the current culture. It's lack of a central, identifying face does not imply it's absence. The mask is one of shifting colors and shapes, in multiple places at once. The concept of 'culture' has changed, evolved, dissolved into into a higher state than it once was. The boiling pot of the world, the western pole of civilization, is starting to show steam. It's starting to grow a true spirit, or in other words, the grounds/foundation for a true spirit are being formed. :)

@@brandogrando8152 That's like saying a box of Captain crunch is a turkey dinner because we have a changing concept of turkey dinner. Virtually every industrialized country has projected the ego into a 4 inch screen and literally vaporized any connection with anything else. Positive and negative reinforcement exist within those parameters. If that's a turkey dinner than I'm Elmer Fudd. I do think that when the the societal structures reach a point of complete nihilism in which they have there are those that may have an "UNDERSTANDING" or whatever term you want to give it. As to whether this will flower into a larger cultural shift who knows. If the ego is built from the knowledge passed down from generation to generation then how can there be a collective awakening. Knowledge is the past. Could be way off here and I ask that question not to debate but to know. I've heard so many interpretations myself.

Thank you...and exactly how is this "status of consciousness which is our true nature" attained when the ego feels so real, so solid? Thank you...😊
@brandogrando8152
@brandogrando8152 5 жыл бұрын
The ego only seems solid and real up to a certain level of conscious realization. After enough honest 'self' reflection, you will begin to see that which is constantly there, the 'self' that you have claimed to seem so solid, is nothing but a shifting array of sensations an feelings that you have trained yourself to hold onto, that you've labeled as 'me'. If you wish to dissolve this ego, see yourself as an extension of a more complex ecosystem. Sadhguru likes to use this example: The forest is an extension of our lungs. The air we breathe out, the trees breathe in, the air the trees breathe out, we breathe in. See the world as a complex ecosystem like this, every one of our actions is an action in a large chain of cause and effect, of different systems breathing for eachother. It is here that you begin to see the word 'self' as just another word, just another border we've drawn at our skin, just as we draw lines as borders between nations, these lines don't exist but we will act as if they do. In this way they seem solid, until you are honest with yourself. There are no nations, there is only the world. Just as there are no nations, there are no cities or communities or individuals. We are all threads born of the fabric of the earth, animated by its air, growing of its soil. The awareness of the self is not the self. Don't get confused. the awareness watches the self, just as 'you' might watch a fly buzzing around 'your' head, the awareness watches the self buzz around the human body. The ego gives itself existence through your memory, through each sensation you experience and claim as self. The exploration of what it means to be aware, brings to light the knowledge that awareness is NOT predicated on being conscious. This is a realm of exploration all on its own. My current understanding is that awareness is 'nothing'. However, that is not to say that there is 'no awareness'. Sounds contradictory? that's why it's so interesting. but i digress. have a good day, and i hope you have a fun journey going forward!

I am wondering if my experience has anything to with this teaching… I feel connected to all the living creatures, I feel their pain, their suffering, all the time. I can’t stop thinking about the fact that even in a moment when I experience happiness, in this particular moment so many souls die or suffer in agony… It’s an unbearable pain for me, the fact that I cannot do much about it. I cannot understand why was I placed in this world, in which we have to get desensitized, immune to the suffering of others in order to have energy to survive. But survival has not much value... since everything dies anyway. I have no other desire apart from that for all the suffering to end. I feel like I cannot be happy until every living creature is happy too. But I have a lot of fear.. fear of how much pain the existence has in scope for us... how much more evil will we be forced to witness.. and why... I’m terrified...

Sat Yoga Institute, Thank you for sharing your insight, I love watching your videos and this one did give me some relief. It's just that when I think about it, it is quite a difficult concept to grasp. If all of it is just an illusion, why do we have to witness all that suffering? What's the point of it all? Why do our loved ones need to die... or why animals are being abused so much..? Why are we placed in this illusion? It's so difficult ...

Keep meditating. I understand that through dissolving the ego, we can tap into the presence and power of God, which can really impact the world. I pray for all living creatures to be rescued and cared for, although I can see that there is much need for Grace. I'm just learning about the power of meditation. Best wishes and may God abundantly bless you for your concern for all creatures.😇💖💓🪔
