Okay, important things to note. Base open TTD trains start in 1925, so unless you're playing with an alternative vehicle set you can't play earlier dates (I use 2cc trains myself and prefer to start in 1900, although in American scenarios I like to start in 1875). Neat to see them using the set but they need to quarter the cost of the trains to make the game more playable. Additionally in earlier starts horsepower is what you should look for not speed. Speed is meaningless if your train can't pull cargo.

Duncan you're my favorite yog, but I'm gonna let you know that trains are literally an integral part of the U.S., and they still see huge use in product transportation, far more than almost any other country in the world.

The funny thing was if they kept going for long enough, his strategy could have been really viable. He was building up to how a lot of naval logistics chains work IRL, where travel is kind of slow but there are just so many ships coming and going that it's a constant revenue stream. Takes a while to build up if you can't fund a massive fleet right out the gate, though.

my hot tip for anyone, when you start get the shittest train. and do multiple ore/coal ect routes. once you make money you can upgrade... Just like yogventures Yogscast just go balls deep 🤣
