45:44 Correct! Tolkien makes a lot of mentions about the mining and forging of Mithril but his worldbuilding when it comes to Middle Earth's bauxite reserves is considerably sub-par so I made a bit of a substitution.

Now that I have this in mind, the lore assumption that I will now consider after conceptualizing that Frodo was just wearing an aluminium chain shirt the whole time is that Middle Earth's giant spiders have a comically weak bite.

As an American Daltos is nuts. Our country is held together by hopes, dreams, spit and duct tape. We are only powerful because we spend a terrifying amount of military spending that could be spent actually fixing our societal issues.

As an American I approve this message!! Daltos is right that it is getting better very very slowly, that being said we could do it faster if politicians got their act together.
@hoffa572 жыл бұрын
This is half right. America has had the most powerful economy in the world since after the American Civil War in the late 1800's. We were isolationists until WW2 ended. That was when we took over on the world stage. The thing that's been hurting us is being the world police at the cost of our society. If we were to go back to being isolationists again to take care of ourselves, we would improve, but the world would decline. Wars would break out all over the world if we backed off because many other nations have improved their societies because they didn't pay for an armed force that can't in reality do anything. Their societies would take a major hit if they had to start defending themselves again. NATO and the UN would be able to do nothing without our support in any major conflict. So I too don't like seeing people crap on the US because they don't see the whole picture and live in la la land. Wars and armies cost money. And if the US wasn't #1, then #2 Russia and #3 China would have been a lot more aggressive and successful around the world.

That take on the us was incredibly defensive, emotional, and sounded.. well exactly how I would assume someone from the US whos been taught about how powerful and great they are in school etc their entire life would sound. The point he started talking from wasnt even about the US directly. It was someone from the US going somewhere else and thinking it was good.
@Satherian2 жыл бұрын
What are you on about
@timmystwin2 жыл бұрын
@@Satherian About 2 hours in Daltos says that the US is super powerful and that's amazing infrastructure wise, and they can't do anything social wise because they're so big, and that they can't do trains (despite literally being founded on trains) etc. It's the kind of thing you see said by Americans trying to justify their nation as it is, instead of looking at its problems and wondering how to actually fix them. It's just sad, and reeks of brainwashing, because for instance the New York/Washington/Boston Corridor is begging for good trains - and doesn't have them. Because private companies own it all and there's no social consensus to fix it because "we can't do trains." Sure, the US *could* be the worlds best infrastructure wise. But it chooses not to be, for the reasons he says which simply aren't true.

I do find it funny how they were laughing about a guy who had a misconception of a country based off of what he had heard from the media and then turned around and started mocking Americans based off of what they had heard from the media. Anyways American is an incredibly diverse place and you will find all sorts of people here. In my area I don't meet people who want to flex their guns like Daltos and rant about supposed power. Running into a person like that here causes one of those moments where everyone gives side glances and tries to move on past the rant. We also tend to get a lot of help from the community. Everyone chipping in to help families that have fallen on hard times and help them get back on their feet, even if it's small things like cooking a stew for them. Don't group all Americans into the same generalization, there might as well be several small countries here.

I think a lot of people misunderstood your rant to be more blindly patriotic than it was It's not like America doesn't have a ton of issues, but industrial (and military) production capacity isn't one of them we have the bulk
@Mp3rocks92 жыл бұрын
The USA’s manufacturing output (18% of global) is only surpassed by China (20% of global). Yes, many Americans have individual financial issues, but that wasn’t the point. As for the military, I think they put it quite well in the video by describing the US as the biggest bully in school. It sucks that there’s a bully at all, but it’s beneficial for the countries that are being protected by the bully. I don’t think Daltos was being proud of the USA’s global bullying, but he was reacting to people who were saying that the US was weak in terms of manufacturing output and military strength.
