I've come back to this song after a couple years and actually looking at the lyrics now that I'm older and wiser this feels like a story about how when someone who was abused finally fought back and the abuser used that against them to isolate them even further by telling people they hurt them badly before the true victim could tell the truth, which is some truly heinous abuse tactics that I've seen and dealt with before.

To me, it sounds like it's about abuse. Abusers often twist words and tell lies and half truths to get others to hate their victim when they try to leave. This makes the victim think it's them that's the monster, a reflection of the abuser, believing only the abuser will love them, despite the harm, and further isolating them from people who care, who will try to help them escape the abuse.

I think we all know that Christopher's spine isn't doing too good, but has anybody actually thought about the reason GHOST chose to give him twisty abilities? The way I've always seen it is that it's a visualization of how he's twisted in multiple ways despite him hiding it from his 'friends'. He twists the truth, he lies to his 'friends to get what he wants'. He's twisted-evil, wicked, cruel-so he's quite literally twisted. It's also why his true form is surrounded by mirrors. He's forced to look at his actual reflection and see the truth which is that he's quite monstrous. Both literally and behavior-wise.

If anyone is wondering, the song is about the distortionist controlling mirrors to make them look like a good person. Eventually, the mirrors become self-aware and start to reflect the true self of the distortionist. The distortionist hits the mirrors with a metal bat because he says that he couldn't control himself so it wasn't his fault. The mirrors gang up and reflect sunlight on the distortionist's skin and burns it off to reveal it's true self. The song ends with all the mirrors reflecting the actual distortionist. Okay so I see a couple of explanations and I kinda want to put in my input. So what I think happened is that Crispy would twist and turn and "distort" (hence the name) to make his reflection of his charactor seem good and nice, no matter how horrible he is. The mirrors represent the people around him as how he looks to them is, in them. So when they start to realise how he really isn't as nice as he made himself to seem they confront him about it. This is when he "breaks the mirrors" he ruins the reputations of them by saying that they are lying. This works for a little while until his actions start to peek out more and more, until everyone knows who he really is. He keeps trying to break their reputations but this ends up making it worse for himself, as he makes more and more bad choices and more people realise. This is how the mirrors snap crackle and pop his reflection or reputation. I think the sun is his actions, as it builds up and up like a dam. But that's just a theory, A GAME THEORY. Also, Kudos to you Ghostie for creating intresting stories for your songs!
