thank you for showing this. in the west, we would call this a true halloween, as it follows the spirit (no pun intended) of all things dark and spooky. i hope one day to visit kyoto and ferverently wish i could attend the event, i know i would enjoy it.

Many foreigners were watching this festival. Specters, Halloween is a content that transcends national borders. Please come to Japan and join this festival!

So cool! Amazed by the artistry and creativity of all the Yokai! Sweet, spooky, cute, scary - all of that is here! It’s so playful in all the best ways. I hope to one day see this. 😍 My grandmother was Japanese. She died before I was born. I’ve always wondered what she was like and the people she came from. Thank you for uploading this video and sharing part of Japanese culture!

Specters are a part of Japanese culture. They often appear in traditional Japanese stories and picture scrolls Nowadays, you can see yokai everywhere throughout the ages! There are many events such as on trains and in processions! Your grandmother was Japanese☺. Please come to Japan someday and familiarize yourself with Japanese culture!
I want one of the yokai portraits and masks and costumes and… 😭🤩👹🎏🎎😍

It is nice, kind of like Halloween. In Ireland, we used to have Halloween taken seriously and it was something to be experienced 😊

It's the Japanese version of Halloween. It's so much fun to see them in full-blown costumes! I would like to see Halloween in Ireland too!

@@kawaiikyoto 😘 you sure would see the kids asking for candies. They are so cute. If you keep your lights off, they don't knock your door thinking the house is empty. But they especially knock if you have a jack lantern at your window. I love carving it. It is so much fun. But I wish to eat the food sold in the festival shown in the video 😂 better than just candy
